McCormick and Ulriksen Sports are pleased to announce the return of Baltimore-based McCormick & Company as the primary sponsor of McCormick Pro Cycling. As described in our plan two years ago, McCormick Pro Cycling is a long-term project to build a significant American cycling team.
Our second season two saw important milestones with the signing of young American phenom Brandon McNulty and our debut appearance at the Tour of America. The Tour of America featured 2020 offseason acquisition Sepp Kuss race to a very creditable 4th place. We look forward to Brandon, Sepp and the rest of the team lighting up the Tour of America in the years to come.
In addition to Brandon and Sepp, sprint leader Luke Keough, key domestiques Jakob Rathe and Mateo Frankovic and our original young rider group of Thomas Revard (from loan at King Power), Brendan Rhim (from loan at Deisgual), Alex Hoehn, Zeke Mostov and Noah Granigan also return for 2021.
While we have not renewed the contracts of any of our remaining riders, at this time, we will stay in touch with them as the offseason progresses and wish them luck wherever their careers may lead them.

Not much excitement for us in renewals, McNulty comes down 42% but the absolute number remains high. Wanted Keough down but he was stubborn. Can't begrudge Kuss a raise I suppose.
I know everyone is desperate to get Granigan but none of them are available except Frankovic, who has made his wishes to move to a more competitive team clear.

Sad to see big Connor released, but understandable. Nice reduction on McNulty especially with him needing to be loaned out this season to reach level 4.
There is definitely a world where you put together a strong team with the added cap space.

Indeed, great to see McNulty's paycut
And I think you don't even need to loan him out, as 70 RD's in C1/C2 plus Avenir should easily be enough. You may however want to get a loan deal to split his wage
In any case, as wj says you should have enough cap space to bring in some really good additions! And I do actually think that Keough's wage is even too low, given his great PRL stat

thanks and agree no need to loan McNulty, 19 xp already + 20 for Avenir, should be easy. Do need loans for my level 4 guys. Maybe the PRL stat makes Keough worth it but not sure. It does work well with my home race if he would actually sprint the other stages.
Don't think this is our year to compete but we will see.

Strong cut on McNulty. Was a bit worried that your lack of renewals might result in a worse result but cool to see that those worries were misplaced

I'm sure we will be seeing a lot of each other in the coming weeks.
Hopefully, Rhim enjoyed his time at Desigual!

Think that's a great base to build on for a charge for promotion

It looks like you're building a very nice team here. My team has some US connection, but I don't think I'll step on your toes. Best of luck in the new season, but not all of it since we'll be competing against each other. |

McCormick Pro Cycling welcomes Ian Boswell to the team. Team manager Ulrich Ulriksen, noted that "when we looked at the riders in free agency and available for transfer this season, Ian was our clear and obvious target, so we moved aggressively to reach a deal with Huski"
While lead DS Ken Ulricksen said he "was thrilled to have a rider of the quality of Boswell to make the team competitive in the hilly terrain for the first time in its history." He continued, "With the addition of Ian to our current leaders, Sepp Kuss, Luke Keough and Brandon McNulty, we have our team leaders in place for the foreseeable future. We look forward to fighting for promotion, if not this season then certainly in the upcoming seasons, as Brandon matures'".
The team also announced the signing of Gage Hecht with Ulrich Ulriksen commenting, "we remain committed to developing young American riders, like Gage, even as the team becomes more focused on current results".
The team has also completed a number of loan contracts and is currently waiting finalization of the sale of team talisman Mateo Frankovic. A full recap will follow once the transfer period is completed.

It's crazy how much the addition of Boswell and the progression of McNulty just completely changed the dynamic of the entire team. Think you guys are set up for a very successful year.

Awesome signing for you! Boswell's gonna be one of the best if not the best in the division for sure now that Kelderman's gone

@bbl - thanks. plan was always to gradually add pieces so it is good to see us getting close to the end of the journey. Not sure this is our year but soon.
@Eden - thanks. will be interesting to see how the division shakes out but expect Boswell to be in the top 5. He is going to need to be good because we have zero support.

Boswell is an excellent signing and I think that puts you up there as one of the promotion favourites!

McCormick Pro Cycling announced the completion of their offseason transfer activity with the signing of German sprinter Max Walscheid from Jura - Fiat. Team manager Ulrich Ulriksen said that "While we typically look only at US riders we didn't feel that there were any on the market who were a fit for this slot on our roster. Max still has room for development so we are sure he can help the team in the future." Lead DS Ken Ulrichsen welcomed the addition, "I think Luke [Keough] is going to really enjoy having another guy vying for sprint opportunities and he knows Max is only going to get better".
McCormick also wrapped up a number of loans: Three developing riders were loaned in: Thanakhan Chaiysombat (King Power), Mantas Januskevicius (Red Bull Žalgiris) and Adomaitis Rojus (Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team). Ulrich Ulriksen noted that "Chaiysombat and Januskevicius are both young all-rounders who will help out on most terrains. Rojus is a fast man and will be working with the sprinters, he may get a chance to do some leadouts. There is real excitement in Baltimore's little Lithuania, they love the prospect of having the future of Lithuanian cycling in town. I am sure Mantas and Adomaitis will be made to feel right at home"
McCormick also welcomes veteran time trialist Dennis Van Winden to the team from King Power. Ken Ulriksen commented, "This our first loan of a veteran rider, Dennis will help us in the time trials and with the team looking to reach mid-table we thought the loan was an economical way to pick up some extra points."
Loan outs were arranged to allow Brendan Rhim, Alex Hoehn and Zeke Mostov to continue their development. McCormick thanks Zwift, King Power and Huski for looking after them this year.
The team will also add 4 stagiaires later in the year including former Azteca - NBCSN rider Ian Garrison and 3 neo-pro's Americans Conor Schunk and Cole Davis and British rider Fred Wright
Finally, two-time McCormick Domestique-of-the-Year, Mateo Frankovic was sold to Aker - Mot. Ken Ulricksen explained "Mateo had made it clear he wanted a chance to test himself at a high level and we think Aker - Mot, with their focus on the classics, is perfect for him. We look forward to seeing Mateo dishing out the pain in his new jersey."
The team is currently planning for the CT draft and will release a final roster once that is complete.

Huge props for sticking to the focus region so closely! Like I already mentioned, think you are right on the cusp of promotion this time, and I'll put you as a Top 5 pick for me in the CT. All the best for the season
