About time to post the final rankings for the 2020 season. It was a long season with many up and downs for most teams. Though the 3-5 teams fighting for the title were quickly identified with 2-3 teams going into the last couple weeks as main rivals.
In the end Isostar - Specialized takes the title and actually with quite a gap as they ended the season strongly. Main part of their success surely was the usage of Taylor Phinney, who even went past Herklotz with his final win in Tasmania. He dominated and won plenty of stages on the cost of no GT.
Puma though despite Herklotz couldn`t challenge the top2 towards the end as the incredible depth scoring of Evonik delivered them the 2nd position with Miguel Angel Lopez as top scorer outside the top10 even.
Moser and Festina follow in the top5 with a late Lombardia/Tasmania position swap.
Gazelle, King Power, Generali, eBuddy remain on their top10 spots while EA Vesuvio late takes the final spot beating Bennelong and Grieg there.
Air France and Aegon in especially really powered up the rankings in the final month and created a big gap to the relegation area, which was still a big and realistic fear in September.
Instead ISA, Tinkoff and Volvo were just above the line.
The 5 teams going down are the same as from the last update. UBS as first followed by Aker. Rakuten, cycleYorkshire and in especially Indosat then with a bigger gap already. As Volvo disbands, there is the bottom 6 teams that leave the PT.

As said, Phinney passed Herklotz in Tasmania and only Lecuisinier able to come close being on the podium as well in the squad of 2000+ pointers.
Degenkolb with a surprisingly strong year for ISA following as pure sprinter ahead of Bewley, who really felt his decline already but still top5 worthy.
Sicard as best stage racer outside the top class 3 while Lutsenko quite easily takes the best pure puncheur title.
Taaramae a bit below expectations, in especially when winning a GT, unfortunately though the Malecki drama in the Giro did cost him and the team big points and same the not always working duo with Kwiatkowski.
Bobridge with a strong year as puncheur/TT combination ahead of Sagan and Angel Lopez with Grosu being the 2nd best pure sprinter ahead of the ageing duo Boasson Hagen and Ponzi.

While the final part of the season was always expected to be a strong run I still am impressed by the team performance after the August/September fails by the full team.
Olivier in Maroc was sensational, De Bie finally delivering in a big race with 2nd in Lombardia, which was his best performance all year and moved him into a decent individual ranking as well, still behind some puncheurs I would have loved to be ahead of, but it`s definitely no longer a clear underperformance any longer.
The team even was able to carry Groenewegen`s and Zardini`s big underperformances this year.
The risk of relegation by not spending 315 k salary budget plus having 5 young talents from other teams was real but luckily the team survived and gives me a bit room for the next season.
Congrats to Croatia for the title, both actually.
And sorry to see those 5 going down, in especially Aker surely was unexpected. Hope to see all of them quickly going up again and have a strong season in PCT. |

Well, that’s what happens when transfer plans A-Z fall flat at the last minute and you have $700k in salary left over after transfers - I’m surprised it wasn’t worse. Just glad it’s over. The team will be holding a ceremony where we fire Romain Vanderbiest out of a cannon into the sun at 7pm AEST this coming Sunday for those interested also.
Congrats to Isostar on such a victory and also Generali for their recovery after their poor albeit unlucky start. Awesome to see King Power do so well too! Hope they can carry that form into next season.
Anywho, first time we’ve ever been relegated so a very strange feeling even though it’s been known since the first scoring update. Will be weird but kinda exciting going back down to PCT, such an unpredictable and fun division to be part of. A shame that a team with Aker’s pedigree unfortunately goes down too.
Thanks to all of the reporters and to roturn for keeping things going - the mg is truly special and I am so thankful for everybody that works so hard on it.

What a dominant season from Isostar!! 
The no GT Phinney plan worked really well, I think that's safe to say  Also pretty awesome to see David Per in the top 30 individual ranking 
Always sad to see some teams go down, but that's how it is. I'm sure they'll all give us hell in PCT next season

Congrats to Isostar on this great win, which came rather unexpected for me this year, but Phinney is just a beast. Great planning as well, although it surely was a risk to not let him ride TdF. Looking forward to see what happens during transfers - I don't think Phinney's wage will go down, but the Evonik guys individually didn't have their very best season, so it might be even closer next year.
Happy to see that fellow (semi-)Italian teams Generali and Aegon finally stayed up quite easily, although I still feel somehwat sorry for the former who miserably failed their Giro mission in an inexplicable way.
Commiserations to Aker; it sounds unlikely to relegate despite a GT win, but that Giro might just have been "too realistic", with the really unlikely Malecki show. And also sad to see UBS go down; it would have been great to send our talents to our compatriots for their final development step, but well, now it'll be a (probably not very close) fight for #1 in Switzerland

Big congrats to croatia for winning the title, and commiserations to knockout for coming close but having no cigar...
Also a big big congrats to roturn for finally pushing clear of the dropzone, and and air high five to Grieg who surpassed my expectations by quite a margin. On the contrary, seing Aker go down is somewhat of a letdown, and I'm sad to see that!
5th is about right for our team, and despite being in the battle for the podium for a long period, we just have way too many talents, and uneffecient wage funds floating around to be battling for big succes. Scoring 6950 points would normally be a very good outcome, but this season it didn't amount to much. Prior to the season, we expected 6500 so we did good enough for ourselves. The last 5 seasons 6950 would have landed us these results:
2019: 2nd
2018: 3rd
2017: 3rd
2016: 2nd
2015: 4th
So the level have obviously been sky-high in the top end, with us not even close to the podim. We had a goal of ending on the podium, and as such it hurt not making it, but scoring a high enough amount of points to almost always do so, takes the top off.

Also so many teams I'd rather not see in the PCT again, but here we are!
(to clarify, not because I dislike the managers, but because they win too much )

11th place for the third time in last three seasons, iirc.
Morton's Tour de France costs us our Top-10 place, even though Bobridge's strong season couldn't be expected after last year. Additional to Morton's failure in France, we obviously made a huge mistake by swapping Dion Smith for Tom David. Smith, who almost outscored our two GC riders.. Of course he wouldn't have done this for our team (since he wouldn't have had too many opportunities for his breakaway success), but it still hurts!

Congrats, Croatia!
An improvement from last year as we finish 9th for the fourth time in our history.
After Gerts' early races I was sure I was set for 3 riders in the top 20, but in the end only Grosu makes it. But he does it with a personal best so I guess that's good.
It's a personal best for Gerts as well, but after the training I was hoping he would be even better. Well, time for more training

First of all, huge thanks to every reporter! Quality of reports was insane this season and also the consistency of reporting times was excellent.
I made no secret of aiming for the title this season and basically ever since i signed Lopez as lvl 2 rider, i aimed for this season as my best shot at the title. If you would have asked me for a scoring target, i would have named 8000 points which should give you pretty good chances in most seasons. We got pretty close to that with 7886 points so that have to count as a pretty solid season. We've had some great highs, particularly the two monument victories and the green jersey in the Tour but also the GT rides by Chiarello and Tvetcov. However there were also quite a few lows but we've also had too many big disappointments such as ToNE, Milan San Remo, Qatar, Skujins GT appearance and basically every time Lopez and Skujins were at the same race. This made it a pretty weird season at times because Evoniks scoring was too rarely matching expectations but far too often at one of the extremes
I've questioned myself a lot whether i made any big race planning mistakes that cost me but i dont think so. Most of the more questionable ones (Skujins GT, Lopez in Slovenia) were due to having that double hill leadership and there were not many alternatives for that. More double leadership races probably wouldnt have been good either and Chiarello performed very well in those mountain races where Lopez could have been an option to lead so i think those gambles were worth it. So i think the only "mistakes" i made were in the squad building department where i was very much aware that the lack of TT riders and keeping two elite puncheurs would both cost me a bit in points but wasnt willing to budge on that.
The offseason will be very interesting because i have to decide between bringing the gang back for another shot at the title or a major rebuild selling multiple of my leaders...

Now to the other teams:
Congrats to Croatia, what a fantastic season for Isostar! I'd say this was a lucky but deserved victory for you: A lot of races where you ended up lucky e.g. the GT success from breaks or the succesful late attack in Paris-Tours i think it was. But you set yourself up to be lucky by specifically targetting these sort of oppportunities with those type of riders that ended up delivering. Every one of those in a vacuum includes a lot of luck but it's not the luck of the dumb. I've said it before and i'll say it again: If my team was to be beaten this season, I'm glad it was you ;)
Spoiler I dont think Phinney's decision to not race a GT was as risky as some made it out to be. In fact, i think racing a GT would have been the risky decision as you could run into a Taaramae like disappointment while no GT takes a bit of the variance out of the season though perhaps with slightly less scoring potential this way. But being able to dominate a race like Dauphine/Suisse and basically being faultless all season helps getting to the top of the individual ranking too :P
Puma, Moser and Festina all sit in a similar situation. All good teams with a dominant leader that could have entered into the title fight if they had more scoring luck from their depth and/or if the teams at the top would not have such a high scoring season. Gazelle on the other hand i feared would have been the top challenger after Malecki turned into a thousand points scorer but outside of that, never had the scoring depth from their previous season.
King Power was for me the big surprise of the season. Lutsenko was a beast and the depth was amazing. At times they seemed everywhere and particularly Dion Smith was outstanding!
Generali was for me the big disappointment. I had them down as a team that could have surely entered the fight for the podium if Spilak delivers in the GT but we all saw how that ended. Maybe they follow in the footsteps of Isostar next season though? :P
Very glad to see Grieg staying up. I think nobody really knew how they would perform with an extreme reliance on only two terrains (cobbles, TTs) which was an even more extreme approach to squad building than i did in my first seasons in the PT. I was confident that they had a solid enough chance to survive and i'm excited that they never even had to sweat too much about it. Will be interesting if the team remains unchanged or if there will be bigger changes to get back into top 5 contention by e.g. swapping one of their cobblers for a different leader. Similarly, i'm glad that Aegon didnt relegate where i was a lot less confident.
Always a bit sad to see teams relegate - most of them have a chance to come back stronger. I'm particularly bummed to see Aker amongst them as a team that i always had a lot of transfer talk and which is amongst my favourite teams featuring one of my all-time favourite MG GT riders in Taaramae but failed because of him. |

The giants remain giant at the top. Sad to see these teams demoting. Aker especially will be very strange to be racing against in PCT. Grieg has officially taken the mantle of top Scandinavian outfit from them.

Congratulations, Croatia! Well done, and it must be with great satisfaction you win this title, as both planning, execution and some needed luck were perfect for you. A very deserved title win, and one that could be difficult to beat in the near future regarding the points tally. Incredible level at the very top, and the top 5 were all excellent this season.
It obviously hurts to relegate. Though, it wasn't a great surprise after our Giro fail regarding points. From that point, this was the outcome I feared, but I hoped we could produce a couple of surprising results to get us above the line.
It will be a difficult job meeting the PCT again, after all it was named Continental Tour in 2012, when we were last in the PCT Haven't put too much thought into what this means for our team coming to the transfer season, as I'm just back from a holiday having been offline for three weeks. Admittedly, it's bad time to relegate this season, as our talents will max out now and after next season, which complicates things a lot. I guess something has to be done regarding Taaramae, but we shall see. Looking a lot forward to everything transfers bring, regarding chats, offers and negotiations, that's for sure  |

And looking at this season and the competitiveness there, some tough decisions must be made in the off-season if we're going to compete for the promotion spots already next season. |

Not happy to be relegating, but I'm excited to try and rebuild the team, and get rid of some of the dead weight. Arashiro more or less being my 2nd highest point scorer says it all about my team really. Every rider underperformed, or I simply didn't have much luck. With the way the calendar is scheduled, Quintana and Shikai should have scored quite a bit more than Arashiro, who admittedly had some "lucky" results himself. I expected riders like Kratochvila and the Kuroeda's to outscore him as well though, so my depth really wasn't that great. In saying that, it hurts to see other teams with similar riders score exceptionally better than my own did.
I'm especially excited for renewals to really see if my Plan A will work out or not, as that should hopefully put me in a good position to bounce back, but with so many riders set to decline, who I was able to fit in because of their age, I may also be able to fit in all my core riders in the PCT salary cap. Really my biggest unknown is I have no real idea what my training plans are and I need to add talents while also not getting too much worse.

Congratulations Croatia; massive performance from Isostar. Keeping this year's stacked Evonik behind is impressive.
Also there's some great managers relegating and I hope you guys bounce back to PT right away.
Gazelle's season had the shape of a rollercoaster. In many races our leaders just didn't have the same edge they had last year and our breakaway game was also significantly weaker. But there were some highlights for sure, with Malecki's Giro of course being the pinnacle.
I feel like it's time to start a new era by selling Madrazo.

All in all happy with the season. The cobbles squad didn't really work out, with Wisniowski just barely getting past the 1000 mark. On the other hand Würtz and Kragh really took a step forward after getting maxed and made us stay up comfortably.
As knockout mentions, the question now will be what to do. With an better cobbles season, we could be well inside the top 10, but we could also get a lot more points than the 289 points Pedersen scored for his wage.
Congrats to Croatia on the overall win. Very good managed season, especially the planning with Phinney.
Sad to see a Norwegian team going down and a Swedish team disbanding. Must be a while since it's "only" been one Scandinavian team in PT, but hopefully it will be for one season only.

It feels like a good end of a era to finally managed to avoid relegation from PT! My team have never been the best or even close to it but I have still enjoyed every season in this game. But lately I have been more busy and dont have the time for this!
I just want to say thanks to every body making this game possilbe and extra thank you to SN and roturn!
I will come in and check where Ahlstrand and "my" other riders will race next season!
