I was expecting this as it was placed too near the end of the season and the expected increase in new Covid cases in general, that are going to appear more again as we go into autumn and winter. It really should've been placed towards the beginning of October to avoid this. Hopefully Flanders will go ahead.
I'm wondering will the Vuelta be affected as well.

It's terrible and there was also a great chance that we could've had very bad weather as well. I really don't understand what the issue is anyway with having just a one day race. There are enough controls and restrictions in place to keep crowds to a minimum anyway. Also good testing for the teams and their staff before the race should be enough.
Even worse things like this don't bode well for the start of the 2021 season which is not too far away and after what is probably going to be a hard winter in Europe I doubt infections will be down by next year, so I expect problems with the 2021 season.

Madrid will probably be locked-down so if there is a race and it reaches the final day, the organization will have to choose another place. Also plenty of restrictions in Navarra and Castilla and Leon where the Vuelta will go through, although contingency measures are being assured when the race goes there. Will depend on the evolution. If we do make it till November, it’s a win for them. I hope they do at least. |

Tour de France 2021 unveiled...sounds strange to me the double ascent of Ventoux and the finish at the bottom.
a lot of TT kms, maybe they want Roglic revenge

Didn't he lose it in a TT? 
On a more serious note, I don't think 58km of TT spread across two stages is too much at all. We used to have one stage with that amount of TT.
I think longer TTs also make for more interesting racing in the mountains as those who lose time have to attack from far out rather than waiting for the usual final 2 kilometres acceleration.

unfortunately the TTers are too good in mountains in modern cycling to allow this kind of actions.
for example Tuesday tt will just make the word END to a grateful Vuelta imo

yeah that's true 
but maybe in flatter routes it will be different.
about long TT in fact we had in the past climbers like Fuente, Beloki, Schleck smashed by riders more suited to that and they won almost nothing

But time - trials are part of the game. If you want to be a Grand Tour winner you have to do well in time - trials. Given we only had one this year and it wasn't a flat one, I think having two next year (and neither is too big) is absolutely fine.

With the Giro and Vuelta normally being more Mountain/climbing focused i like the Tour going the other way. Add some more regular cobbles as well!

was about time we got some more tt kilometers in the tour again, the last few editions have been a travesty even in my eyes, and i dont care about time trials at all

I think the frenchies realised Pinot, Bardet or Barguil aren't going to win Le Tour, so they can do more time trials again.

Pinot got a route almost as good as possible for him this year and couldn't do it. I know his crash played a role, but combined with all of his other issues and bad luck, I think he's just not gonna win a Tour.
