Tour of Bulgaria
Later than originally planned due to some technical difficulties, the Tour of Bulgaria rounds off the C2 season despite originally being timetabled to take place in July. Three summit finishes and a TTT will decide the GC, with an opportunity for the sprinters on Stage 4 provided they have anything left in their legs after a brutal first few days.
Headlining the field of stage racers here are the usual suspects: Eastman, Pinot, Ratiy and Valls. They're joined by two wildcard pure climbers here representing PCT teams in Krasnoperov and Seboka, and the likes of Faiers, Nibali and home favourite Panayotov can't be discounted amongst others.
| MO | HIL | TT | STA | RES | ACC | Eastman | 81 | 71 | 77 | 76 | 75 | 69 | Pinot | 80 | 74 | 65 | 76 | 79 | 69 | Ratiy | 80 | 70 | 74 | 70 | 73 | 58 | Krasnoperov | 80 | 68 | 73 | 68 | 69 | 61 | Seboka | 80 | 62 | 53 | 63 | 70 | 67 | Valls | 79 | 75 | 72 | 78 | 77 | 72 | Faiers | 78 | 71 | 75 | 75 | 75 | 73 | Panayotov | 78 | 72 | 68 | 71 | 76 | 72 | Campero | 78 | 70 | 69 | 75 | 70 | 71 | Diaz | 78 | 70 | 72 | 69 | 73 | 68 | Elissonde | 78 | 73 | 63 | 76 | 77 | 66 | Ablenado | 78 | 67 | 72 | 73 | 77 | 65 | Signorini | 78 | 69 | 65 | 66 | 72 | 74 | Manfredi | 78 | 65 | 65 | 68 | 73 | 73 | Giogieri | 78 | 73 | 66 | 71 | 74 | 67 | Nibali | 78 | 73 | 73 | 72 | 71 | 53 | Stetina | 78 | 67 | 64 | 67 | 74 | 65 |
However, the TTT may have a defining impact on the race, particularly if some of the weaker TTers amongst the favourites are dropped by their teams. Eastman, Nibali, Giogieri and Ablenado may be the most likely beneficiaries of their teams bringing strong TTT squads, while Valls, Pinot and Krasnoperov will have to seek to limit their losses.

Finally, a number of sprinters have come here in search of a stage win provided they can survive Stages 1 and 3. Ulanowski should be the big favourite, but Perera, Colbrelli and Castaneda will all fancy their chances.

Given how stacked the GC will be, a Top 10 finish would be considered a success for my team. As this rate Eastman is unstoppable with only riders with similar abilites can match him. Pana unfortunately is not one of them though he has some abilities similar to Eastman.
KoM jersey is possible, as well as the U25 with Pogi if the pieces fall in place for us. But I'm not expecting my team to challenge for the overall win as this is yet another lost season and have to press the reset button again

3rd goal of the season, and we're really hoping to get a Top 10 from Manfredi or Signorini. Negatively surprised by how packed the field is, but well, we'll have to cope with that... The TTT surely isn't our friend, but we often finished slightly above the expectations, so I we don't worry that much.
For the win, I guess there's no way past Beastman once again...

Thank you, jph, for having the trouble of rescuing this race from oblivion and apologies everyone for provoking this delay. Hopefully this run of the race will be as interesting as it deserves, unlike the dull affair I was unfortunate to witness.
Good luck guys!

Hopefully Nibbles tops off a successful C2 season here with a great result. He’s shown what he’s capable of on his own this season but he’ll have the trusty support of Borisavljevic and Fernandez in the Mountains. We’ve also got a pretty strong TTT squad with Nibbles, Borisavljevic, Robert, Castrillo and Al Murawwi so hope we make some big gains there!

We've got our best here, both climbers and TT specialists to help Eastman maintain control of the C2 fields like he has most of the season.

Well, Cort Nielsen has shown himself capable on the climbs this season, but the lack of support might hurt him in the TT here. Still, should be capable of scoring decent points and possibly hedging on the edge of the Top 10. |

Ouch, Manfredi and Signorini being dropped is quite a bummer - and it's hard to understand, given that we still had 3 riders up front with Saggiorato, Masnada and Freuler... Well, if they are going for breakaway success in the following mountain stages, that's still OK, but I doubt it... So I guess we'll have to hope for Saggiorato getting that GC Top 10. Not what we were hoping for after stage 1...

Great start for Nibbles! Strong at the finish is not usually his way due to his acceleration but 2nd is a great result and puts him in prime position going into the TTT.

Good start from Kennaugh, just need a good TTT and we could be due some decent amount of points here!

A TTT Top 10 is definitely a good result for us, especially in a 20+ teams peloton. With our riders on P15-17 in GC, a Top 10 is really within reach now. And I won't rule out our best climbers, who should be in a good position for some breakaways with their current deficit.
Congrats once again to OMV for an insane TTT performance - well done!

Great effort so far from the team! A strong TTT as expected from the team and then Nibbles doing well enough to hold on in stage 3. Stage 4 should be a good rest day for the team but then the final stage will be a tough one for Nibbles to hold onto his GC lead.

Oh dear, that's really some dull racing... I must admit I've got no clue why PCM dislikes Signorini & Manfredi that much in this race, given that even Freuler (Mo 72) has done way better so far... With Saggiorato and Masnada in 13th and 14th we still have a good chance for a Top 10, which is just 3 seconds away... But we'll finally need some attacks, not this boring kind of racing...
Glad to see one of "our" young Greeks taking some KoM points, hopefully we can get some points from there, too!

Expected result in the TTT, but Faiers has had an absolute belter of a year and continues, most likely the best transfer I have ever made!

We didn't really care about stage 4 - which is a pity, as some of our boys would have been a good fit for the breakaway. But Freuler is probably too close in the GC for such a move - he'd really have been our man today.
Now, let's go all in on that last stage. With their gaps, ideally Manfredi and Signorini should try an early attack and then help Masnada and Saggiorato towards the end of the stage. But well, PCM isn't know for sophisticated team strategies, so the latter two will probably have to do it on their own... Fingers crossed!

Suddenly McCormick breakaways bearing fruit. Habtemichael with a good lead in the KOM, hopefully he can hang on tomorrow. Technically, I guess it was weeks before Revard finished 5th in an Australia but ironic that for all the breaks we have been two of our best results come on the same day in reporting time.

A good result for the team as we avoid doing too much work on the front which saves the legs for tomorrow! It’ll be a big ask for Nibbles to hold onto the GC lead but he’ll have the strong support of Fernandez and Borisavljevic who have already sacrificed themselves for him previously. I think we can do it so let’s hope the best!!

Well, in the end it turned out to be about as exciting as your original run through
I think the problem here is that the final climbs on the mountain stages aren't particularly steep, so it's hard to get a gap. Combine that with passive AI and you end up with a race where the TTT is decisive and the GC comes down to who does the best job of not getting dropped on the climbs. Definitely a race we need to look at for next season, as the intention is for it to be like the Giro del Trentino of season's past (the TTT playing a role, but the mountains being more important) than what we got here. |

Habtemichael! Finally getting some reward for his awesome number of breakaways with a brilliant race here to win the KoM like a consummate mountain breakaway artist rather than a neo-pro, and that 5th place on this final stage was very nice indeed. Awesome stuff!
