Transfer Rumours & Done Deals 2020

As we have that time of the year again I thought it might be good to collect all talks about potential moves here.

I'm going to start with a rumour I recently got that Nils Politt will join German Team Bora-Hansgrohe. Some of his training mates like Greipel and Zabel ride for Israel though, hence I'm not sure whether he'll break that link up. Also it will be very interesting to see whether he'd be a replacement for a potential Peter Sagan departure or some sort of superdomestique on the cobbles that will serve the offensive role in the team.

Politt to Bora very interesting move. I hope he will be able to play his cards as i think he has great potential on cobbles

I don't know. I could imagine him going for a big money/representation move. UAE could be fitting but they have Philipsen, Kristoff and Gaviria. Don't see a fitting team yet. Maybe Manuela Fundacion, if they indeed take over CCC, need a flagship.

Or, as crazy as it sounds, there is Israel, and back in the days Sagan helped kickstarting the project.

A swap with Politt could be a good move and I certainly don't see him at UAE. I remember Sky were interested in him some years ago and with Froome leaving Ineos could be looking for a huge name and Sagan would fit that bill. Also the team's classics ability has gone down recently and they would have a strong team to support a proper classics leader and they are also one of the teams that could afford him.

GVA to AG2R a very real and possible move. AG2R have said to focus more on classics for next year (with Dewulf already transfered I think), Bardet/Latour leaving clear up budget, and also been reported to see AG2R riding BMC's next year.
Also CCC possibly to shut down and GVA/Naesen are training partners (and friends I assume)

While I could see it coming, Ineos defines itself as a GT-Team and Sagan is a guy that with his wage and influence demands leadership, so I can't really see that combination work out, especially at Le Tour. I also think the structure might be too rigid for an extravagant type of guy that Sagan is.

Trek-Segafredo could also fit very well if they can increase their funding...

maybe Specialized will play a big role about Sagan transfer, so I don't see him at Trek or Ineos

Sky/Ineos have put up with the stupid antics of Moscon for some years now and he is neither the star or professional that Sagan is. Also Sagan needs little help in sprint stages unlike say Viviani who needed a leadout train. For marketing what could be better for Ineos than winning both the yellow and green jerseys at the same time in the Tour. Also Ineos has a strong classics team at the moment but without a leader and Sagan could fit that bill.

Big signing for Bora with Schachmann making it 4 more years. The team surely is trying to become a force. Also Pöstlberger and Benedetti extend.

In other news, Jumbo-Visma signed yet another breakout talent in David Dekker.

Colombians Daniel Arroyave (Astana) and Miguel Florez (Arkea) also seem safe to step up their game on higher level, especially if Arkea can nail their World Tour application this year.

Today Bora announced the signing of Politt. Seems like they either really got some more budget since they re-signed Schachmann already, or a big-time rider will be leaving. Contracts also seem to become longer and longer, I've seen more 3-4 year deals since 2019 than ever before.

On another note: Latour goes from AG2R to Direct Energie, which as Bardet is also heavily linked to leave, leaves AG2R with no proven GC captain. To me it seems like they're switching on the classics completely (after signing GVA and Dewulf) and giving the next generation with the likes of Paret-Peintre the chance to go GC riding.

Also: Ineos is rumoured to be very close to signing Yates, Porte and Jungels for their mountain train. Madness.

Which Yates, the one who wins or the other one?

Think it’s Adam, according to rumours. Which is the other one, now, but likely, the one who wins, in a year. Pfft

Freitas is completely right Grin I think this is a scary sign, as Yates seems to have a lot left to offer and Jungels fits their outfit all too well, being a slightly better version of Dylan van Baarle he should be a safecall in their tour-lineup 2021

Yes, Simon has won the Vuelta and a few more stages at Grand Tours. But other than that you could say Adam's overall results are better both in stage races and one day races.

Ivan Garcia Cortina has been confirmed at Movistar. Decent move for the team who always lacked someone for the cobbles, but will need to probably find one or two riders to support him in this terrain. Can’t say for sure going to Movistar is wise since they have been underperforming since always, unless you’re Valverde, but nonetheless a chance to be a team captain there so I understand.

GVA to AG2R is also confirmed.

Croatia14
Yeah very interesting move. I like the idea of Movistar here.

Bahrain falling apart though, with him leaving as well. Budget problems surely...

Bardet confirmed at Sunweb. Sunweb clearly building a new team and for the first team signing a leader instead of training them themselves. Curious to see how it'll work out.

Also didn't expect Van Avermaet to sign at AG2R to be honest.

in my PCM17 career he spent major of his time in ag2r, I won't need to much time to get used about it

nice move for Movistar...he has great potential in many terrains
