The young german sprinter Lucas Carstensen has won the first stage of the Tropicale. He already took some stages in african races before.

Relatively unknown to me as well, had some good results in Africa last season for the German "Embrace the World" team. Only rode local races or the occasional 2.2 race before.

Brenton Jones becomes the first australian to win a stage in the Tropicale. Carstensen finishes 3rd and keeps his jersey.

Well, his 8th place in the opening stage was disappointing (without knowing how the stage went or what happened). So I'm glad Jones took a stage-win from this race now.

Not posting this for the Top 10, but for this guy finishing in the peloton.
Incredible stuff. We mourned him for at least half a day already just 18 months ago.

Yeah it's great to see Girdlestone slowly getting back on track.

Third stage of the Tropicale, Nocentini (40 years old) and Gaudin attacked in the last climb and managed to keep the gap. Jones finished third and now leads the race.
Here is the stage of tomorrow where we could have little gaps. The average slope of the final kilometers is around 3%.

Kevin Rivera is amazing, he should have a bigger Vo2 max than Bernal and just won today! 19 y/o Costa Rican climber, I cannot find a reason not to root and follow this talent! |

Ganna showing his massive talent for a 21 year old, coming 4th on Stage 2 after doing a massive turn to pull back a group containing Benoot, Escuela and the stage winner Villalobos, now he backs it up by finishing 2nd to Mullen in the TT and pulling on the leader's jersey. Awesome talent.
Gaviria took Stage 1 as well, surprising.

Najar should win the Vuelta a San Juan. The pack let him attack from 15 km to go, and Sevilla & Torres only decided to attack from 5 km to go. Ganna did an amazing final, he resisted very well and climbed very quietly, reminding me Tom Dumoulin.

No one commented about the sudden rise of Kenya in cycling this month? Salim Kipkemboi won the queen stage of Sharjah Tour and finished 4th in the GC, he who just turned 19 two months ago. Certainly not the most competitive race in the world, but he did beat Javi Moreno and Davide Rebellin on that stage, Chris Froome's disciples are starting to rise. |

Valverde is back! Wellens won Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana by the second year in-a-row, but Valverde only in his second RD in 7 months has finished in the podium of a race
