This is the beginning of something big... The official presentation of the Andorra Cycling Project, Andorra's only Professional team. (already the best one)
So how did it all begin? As a very mountainous country and financially one of the best in the whole world, it would be shocking to think there was no professional cycling team, the explanation is simple, it's population is extremely small.. only 85000 people, and only half are born Andorrans. Finding an Andorran cyclist is like finding a needle in a barn.
But this year the Andorran Federation decided it was about time to have a cycling team racing outdoors. And so the only reputated Andorran manager was contacted, his name is Esteban Julio Ricardo Montoya de la Rosa Ramirez and he certainly has what it takes to lead this team into the top notch of the cycling world.
And not only will the team be funded solely by the Andorran Federation, the entire team staff is Andorra-born, that's an absolute requirement to work with the team. The team's HeadQuarters is in the city of Andorra-la-Vella and all the training camps will have a base at the top of the Port d'Envalira, a climb frequently present in the Tour de France route.
The team will largely focus on hiring Andorran riders, but there is also a big focus on the Spanish and French Market. But there is absolutely no limit to wich the riders provenience may be in this team, Andorra is one of the regions with the biggest affluence of cycling training camps, and the team manager has contacts from all over the world.
The goal of this team is to bring as much people as possible to the country. It’s a great place for many kinds of tourism, and even with the cycling community the country gathers some good income.

A big thank you to the_hoyle for this amazing jersey, every victory will have his name associated to it.
This is the Jersey that all the riders will have the pleasure of wearing throughout this season. It fully captures the colours of the country and it represents perfectly some of the sponsors that will work with the team.
Main Sponsor
The Andorran Cycling Federation will be no short of financial supply for the team, it fully backs up most of the team's expenses.
Secondary Sponsors
Andorra Airlines will be the only other institution to financialy aid the team. It will also have a big role in the team's transportation, as many races occur in other continents.
Cervello will be the team's bike distributor. It's range varies from aerodynamic models, climbing specific and time-trial specific.
One of the biggest and best equipment manufacturers Rapha will also support this project. Their work and range of equipment will be essential to ensure the riders can perform at their absolute best in any type of race.
As in every sport, nutrition is absolutely essential to ensure an athlete can perform at his best. SIS have loved the idea of the project and will be an essential help for the team.
The bike equipment giant will be the team's provider of groupsets, brakes and everything related to the mecanical part of the bikes.
Definetly one of the most important sponsors to work with the team. Zipp will provide with the broadest ranges of wheels, bars, stems and seatposts to ensure a good performance in the athletes' bikes.
The latest confirmed equipment sponsor, Giro's helmets will be protecting the riders throughout the season. Obviously benefiting of it's range, from aerodynamic to super-lightweight helmets.

Transfer season off to a great start!
As a newly formed team, the expectations for this transfer season weren't very high, and the main goal was to get the needed connections and experience in the most important part of the entire season for the future.
Building a team from scratch is no easy job, but today the news were very uplifting, the team signed not 1, not 2... BUT 6 RIDERS for this season!
No top signing of course, but a solid base of domestiques, and it gives some clarity over the roster's future build-up.
Our main target, the National market had no other competition, and so it is a pleasure to reveal 4 of the riders that will wear our Jersey this year. Miguel Afonso will be an important rider in TT's and general protection in the team, Climbing duo Ivan Vila and Guy Diaz Groiller will for sure be some of the most important riders when it comes to mountanous terrain, and so is 23-year old Adrian Urcelay, a future hope but for now a solid all-rounder able to help the team in every type of terrain.
The team's attention has taken an unexpected turn, after contacting some Liechtensteiner riders training in the Andorra region, two of them caught the team's attention and soon enough they were hired to this year's squad, Dimitri Jiriakov will be looking for one of the top spots in the climbing division of the team while 27-year old Daniel Rinner will fill a so-far needed spot in the team, a pure barouder, he is capable of taking on classics, windy races and can even sprint, and doesn't lack the skill in the uphill. He will be massively important due to his incredible versatility.
Taking into account all these riders have been signed on minimum wage, it gives some more finnancial feedom to the team's plans.
The first day of confirmations was very positive, but the team now hopes to give these riders a proper leader to get the ambitioned results, and rumours are they might just get it soon!

It's nice to see Jiriakov getting picked up by a team after a year without one.
He scored a podium at the Tour of the Middle East for me previously, can't remember if it was my first or second season though, we look forward to catching up with him again after he's had a year off, even if it will be a bit weird seeing him in the opposition for a change.

Team leaders and National Champions
Second day of confirmations, and the news regarding the team are getting even better. After a rather hard and slightly mind-bugging start to the transfers, the management again confirm 6 riders from a fresh round of signings.
Loaned in from PT team Becherovka – Petrof comes 22-year old Michal Schlegel, set to take his first professional steps in the cycling world. He is a solid all-rounder and should be a good helper in many types of races.
And the team's first signing is... Luxembourguese Road and TT National Champion David Claerebout. Joining us from Indosat Ooredoo - ANZ, he is a set climber with good time-trial skills. In the right race he may be able to lead the team.
The most exciting news of the day is the absolute bargain signing of Venezuelan José Rujano, although past his career peak, he's still a noteworthy climber and is set to be one of the team leaders. In his support will also be another excelent climber, Carlos Baltazar, after not renewing with his former team he became a target and soon enough contacted by the team. A minimum wage is perfect taking into acount his climbing skills and so our mountain team has already built up a lot of power.
The last two riders being announced, both own Road and TT National Jerseys of their respective countries, Tanzania and Rwanda, adding firepower to the team are Richard Laningo Laizer, renowned time-trialist, and the multi-talented 24-year old Bonaventure Uwizeyimana, a stage-racer by definition, with a lot of quality in mountaineous terrain, alongside time-trialing and flat power.
Although these great signings, the team is still looking to bolster it's mountain depth, aswell as a secondary approach to other rider specialties. In the next two days we hope to bring another set of great news!

Wow, an almost complete squad already, congrats! Rujano is a very good signing for 60k, didn't quite fit my setup so glad he found your team, should do well for you I do have to ask though: what will the Andorran NC look like compared to your jersey Regardless best of luck, should be a nice climbing and TT team as well as attacking guys elsewhere and look forward to racing against you this year

15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Glad to see Claerebout in good hands Quite the squad you're building there, I think you will definitely do well this season.

@Jandal7 @maxime86 As a new nation there is no NC yet, it's still a vague idea but chances are of a simillar jersey to the Tricolore.
@Eden95 Thanks! I sure hope so, he's in good hands
