Deutschland Tour
Cat. PT 8 stages

Profile:

Welcome to Deutschland Tour, this will be the 10th anniversary edition of the race, continuously on the calendar since 2007. The only rider to win the race more than one time was pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/ioc.png Markus Fothen (2008, 2011). Last year the race was won by pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kdd_ita.png Simon Ponzi.
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/ioc.png Fothen won’t be here this time, but pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kdd_ita.png Ponzi is here.

The race consists of 5 stages designed to fit the sprinter teams, but the GC will most likely be decided by the puncher types, able to perform on the relative short uphill finish at stage 4, 6 and 7.

GC riders:

It is hard to call an outright favorite in this strong field of punchers, any of the above riders can win this race with a bit of good fortune.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/akm.png Hagen is very strong on the hill and acceleration but lack a bit of resistance. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kdd_ita.png Ponzi has the best sprint and perfect acceleration and resistance. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tsa_rus.png Trofimov is the best climber and strong on many parameters.

The Sprinters:

Pokerstars.com is frightening with the combination pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/pok.png John Degenkolb pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/pok.png Erik Mohs. But im sure no one would rule out pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/aeg.png Ben Swift.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/pum.png Ciolek, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/evo.png Van Stayen pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/bec.png Howard. Will surely fight for those stage win’s but might have to settle for only podiums, it seems unlikely that they will get the point classification but you never know.

Will be interesting to watch the future sprinters represented by youngsters pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/akm.png Sondre Holst Enger and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/met_rom.png Eduard Grosu

Thanks for the preview and doing this race here!
Very much appreciated really.

For the race, no question my ambitions are high with Swift for the sprints. Huge challenge by Pokerstars of course and also Ciolek, Van Stayen etc.
Seeing how the TdF worked out, I want 2/5 stage wins minimum.

Problem is that there won`t be a proper leadout train and hopefully Swift sits behind Degekolb instead.
More likely though the AI tries to do something with De Bie-Berger-Van der Sanden, which still is proper enough but without Boom/Sbaragli missing the big leadouts. So my team could fail big time here as well.

Then 3 hill stages for De Bie. It was always supposed to be a huge puncheur field, so a top10 is all I want by him.

Great to see another reporter! Big thank you for that, Tamijo Smile

Boasson Hagen has got to be the favourite here seeing there is no Bakelants here. But I suspect it all comes down to daily form, especially on stage 4, as it's the first hilly test.

Admittedly expectations are high, it would be amazing if our captain can build on his Olympic success. Fingers crossed! Also a very competitive field of sprinters, meaning my hopes for Holst Enger aren't high. The main thing for him is to avoid making trouble for Boasson Hagen AI wise, really.

Looking forward to your reports, Tamijo!

Great stuff Tamijo, nice way to help even as a non-manager! Should be an interesting race, looking forward to your reports and the PT action. Crucial race both for the title and relegation fight.

Thanks for picking up reporting Tamijo!

I'm going for a top 5 GC here with Ginanni. Some stage success would be awesome too, but not easy vs Hagen, Trofimov and Ponzi.

Cool to see you as a reporter, Tamijo! Thanks a lot for helping! Smile

Part II of the biggest gamble of my season planning: Not sending Skujins here could turn out to be a huge mistake. Decided to send him to the Vuelta instead and only send Van Stayen here and the Vuelta part hasnt paid off due to Skujins crashing out Sad

The hilly stages dont look too hard so Van Stayen might have a chance for a great GC result himself if he sits in a good enough GC position after the starting flat stages which was triggered my decision for the Skujins Vuelta gamble.

So yeah, huge expectations and i can only get disappointed now ...

I also hoped for a weaker sprinter startlist :/

Our win goal for the season, obviously. A very strong startlist, obviously.

Actually winning this with Kelderman always was a long shot, realistically a Top 3 can be the most he can achieve. I hope he can push above his weight somehow.
Arndt comes from a strong TdF and might put in a surprise attack somewhere, else he'll provide excellent support together with Felline, Bol and Mager.
The hilly stages all have relatively steady finals, so I hope for good positioning, preferably thanks to a good GC after stage 4. Bonus seconds there would be crucial.

In the sprints, I hope Ciolek can win a stage on home soil.
Bar and Lander are good enough for a strong leadout, and without Bewley here and Swift relying on other teams, I hope the AI gives us one of the "leadout slots".

Thank you Tamijo for a good preview, I look forward to your reports.

Fantastic to see a great preview from you, Tamijo, big thanks!

I really hope for a big result from both Howard and Sagan here, as I really need one to keep my dreams of winning PT alive. Embarassed

I'm really happy that we got those extra 29 points in San Sebastian as that means I "only" need to keep Becherovka 57 points behind me. Not likely with Sagan here and Howard performing better than Tzortzakis on most occassions, but atleast I have a similar (although slightly worse) setup with Koretzky and Tzortzakis vs. Sagan and Howard.

Vesuvio might well be the better of the top 3 teams though having both Gastauer and van der Lijke here. Then we have a bit of a gap to the next teams fighting to take a podium step. Teams like eBuddy, Aegon, Puma, Aker and Metinvest will look to make some resurection here. eBuddy will need to be lucky from breaks, Metinvest are here solely for Grosu and luck, but Aegon, Puma and Aker may well have some very very strong races and could be closing the gap significantly if they perform according to their lead riders here.

It's certainly an interesting part of the season this, where things are still very open.

4 fairly strong riders here in Houle, Pichon, Boily and Elissonde so the hope is for either 4 really decent top 40 GC results or a couple of good stage results would be great hopefully a good Youth results for Elissonde too

Well I'm just happy to be here for this one! It might be Schumacher's last ride in this race and I doubt Amador will do anything. Maybe a breakaway for one of the other guys.

My money is on Trofimov.

Thanks for the support, but I fear my team will do nothing here, as it's simply not in this race.

Wow, amazing stage result by Holst Enger. I'll definitely take it! Smile Also Tzortzakis with a surprise podium, being super close to take it from Degenkolb as well. Congratulations on the win, beagle, with Degenkolb being the only big sprinter delivering, really.

Thank you for the report, Tamijo! Really enjoyed the sprint coverage with the detailed writing from the final three kilometers.

Bringing a pretty good team here with Kump and Costa, so excited to see if we can set our mark on this race! Solid start by Kump on the first flat stage atleast!

Cool to see a new reporter aswell and great preview and first report aswell Tamijo Smile

Had hopes for a weakened sprint field here, with the clashing GP Moscow. Stronger than I thought it would be though, so will be hard for Rowe to get very much out of this race. A decent start with 11th place, but hope he can climb further in to the top 10 later on in the race.

Thanks for the report, Tamijo Smile

What the fuck was that? Awful.

Ohhh that was SO close! Would have been absolutely amazing to snatch the first stage and all those vital points. But 2nd is much much better than anticipated. Very happy with that. Also happy to see Degenkolb doing well and claiming some much needed Pokerstars points in the relegation battle.

Also congrats to Aker. That is certainly a good way to start a potential massive points haul race.

We got a bit of an extra leeway to Becherovka here, but we are far from safe after this race...

not quite as good as hoped / expected but still a lot of time to improve and the other stages are better suited for Van Stayen.

I realize with every race that a big priority for next season is to train Dzamastagic +1 SP so that he will be the final leadout man.

Or keep Dakteris away from Van Stayen races Smile
