I'm beginning my second year in professional cycling. I want to become a sprint legend and you received chance to follow me and my (I hope) road to the top of pro cycling. I don't promise anything special, because I won't have good form for this race, but I think I can reach top 10 in points classification. Keep your fingers crossed! Tour de San Luis - Stage 1 Today we'll have flat stage for sprinters (something for me ) with easy climbs at beginning. Team Roster & Startlist The 2009 season had begun (for me)! At the first climb has been formed breakaway with Santaromita, Garcia-Casarrubias, Tanner, Bottasso and Buividas. Santaromita won the mountain sprint and gained 5 points to KoM classification. Tanner won two intermediate sprints. After the second one (it was 60 km remaining) breakaway had a 4'25 lead over the peloton. When the peloton began to catch up breakaway, Santaromita and Tanner tried to counter. Unfortunately, it wasn't effective. After that my team had begun preparing to final sprint. 9 km before finish line happened crash with about 20 riders (include Capecchi, Zaugg, Herrada, Haedo and Sinkewitz, who has retired). Luckily I avoided the troubles Kittel puts all his effort to give me good coditions to sprint. 1,5 km before finish I had begun sprint and...... Spoiler it was too late. Stage was won by Van Dick (Verandas) ahead Sabatini (Liquigas) and Vona (ISD). I finished the stage at 22nd place. Tour de San Luis - Stage 2 Double for Serramenti - Scarponi won ahead Bertagnolli. I reached finish line 7 minutes and 5 seconds after the winner. Race results: Spoiler Tour de San Luis - Stage 3 (ITT) Race results: Spoiler 16. John Degenkolb +31" Tour de San Luis - Stage 4 When I got up of from bed I thought "I must attack today!" - I did it! It has been formed huge group with 14 riders. I was very tired after first climbs, but I attacked again before intermediate sprint... .....and I win it! As you can see at this picture, I was veeeeery happy After that I was struggling to grupetto. I wasn't really into cycling at this time so it's going to be interesting to watch what happens. Serramenti appear to be too good here, but John is doing quite well for himself. Race results: Spoiler Tour de San Luis - Stage 6 Flat city criterium. At this stage finally I can fight for high place. 15 riders attacked today, include Vanotti and Herrada, but this group was chased (as every morning breakaway ) 60 km before finish. Kittel again showed his power - he gave everything for me during making sprint train. Let's sprint to the finish line! I have a good position to finish (thanks to Marcel)! Spoiler I lost too much energy at the end and Vicioso was fastest - but I finished at 7th place and I'm very happy! I excepted attacks for the first KoM sprint and it happened - Benenati finished ahead Garcia. Third place for Bernucci (LPR), who attacked just before climb and overtaked them. Bernucci won next three mountain bonuses and reached advantage about 5'10 (65 km before finish) ahead peloton with me. 60 km before finish peloton divided into two groups due to windy conditions. My team tried to seize the opportunity to chase Bernucci and it was worked hard, but Serramenti riders caught up group with me. 35 km before finish and Bernucci have 3'30 advantage - will he win? Bernucci won also last mountain sprint and 5 km before finish he had 1 minute advantage. After consulation with sporting director I decided - I won't take part in finish today. 3,5 km before finish Bertolini decided to attack.... Spoiler ...and after nice sprint fight he won it! Nice win by Serramenti rider! Kittel decided to sprint and he finished today's stage at 15th place. Race results: Spoiler Summary: Spoiler First race of this season wasn't successful (except one intermediate sprint ) for me, but I hope in Qatar I'll show my sprint skills.
