We surely get a whole new experience in this year`s Ronde Van Vlaanderen. The big dominator of the race in last couple of years, won`t be at the start for the first time!
In 8 years Tom Boonen has won 5 times, podiumed another time and had 2 more top10 results. This is huge consistency for sure.
In 2015 we won`t really need to look out for him despite him being at the road side possibly.
It still should be a great fight as we have found the new Boonen already. Bewley stepped up and proved to be the new star for those kind of classics. He is still looking for his first Ronde win. 27th, 10th, 2nd and 3rd but with less gap to the winner are his results here and show a nice improvement year for year.
Another rider with a good consistency in the history of the race is Burghardt. The German tends to ride below expectations a lot but this race here must be one of his best as the results show: 7th, 2nd, 2nd, 6th, 5th, 2nd. So three times runner-up and many feel, he should finally get his first win. 2015 would be a good year to do so for newly promoted team Oz Cycling.
Next big star on the cobbles is last years winner Cancellara. The Swiss is another rider, who was in every single Ronde Van Vlaanderen in the MG. Except for 2 times, where he ended as 11th, he was always within the top10 crowning it with the long waited 2014 success.
2 more riders really need a mention. First is Blythe. The Brit had some off-season training on the cobbles and while only have one top10 so far in 2013, he belongs to the top favourites for 2015. His combination of cobbled and sprint skills should come handy. The other mention goes to wildcard rider Vanspeybrouck, who leads the cobbled squad of Bpost. As 13th and 18th he can`t be happy with his last two performances here and surely wants to improve.
Special mentions to some of the youngsters on the cobbles as they will the be riders to watch out for in 2015 and years to come:
Zepuntke
Senechal
Kamyshev
Teunissen
Altur
Let`s have a closer look on the whole startlist, which proves to be impressive despite missing some big names next to Boonen such as Summerhill, Vanmarcke, Maes, Thomas as their teams did not get a wildcard.

Quite a good race for Burghardt in the past. I really hope he won't fail this year
I don't think he will win, Bewley is here afterall. But a podium must be our goal, as this is the races where we need to score significally better than those who don't pay 500k for a cobbler! You see me nervous about this one, truly.
Kinda shame to miss Boonen, but time for the other B's to shine here

Nice of you to mention Kamyshev. Probably not his time to shine just yet, but still looking forward to see what he can do in this race and Roubaix. |

Looking a lot forward to see Kristoff being our undisputed leader in a monument.
I think a top 15 should be within reach, and maybe even a top 10 if we get a similar scenario to East Midlands, which admittedly is the dream scenario for Kristoff.
Kind of impossible to see past Bewley for the win, but Cancellara proved in Great Britain that it's at least possible to follow him, you just need to beat him in the sprint
So yeah, definitely Bewley for me, eventhough it would be cool to see Burghardt take that cobbles win. |

Like in other cobble classics this season, I can only hope for a miracle - successful mid stage attack with Kluge involving.
Can someone finylly stop that Kiwi monster?

Totally true. Would have loved to see him racing here but i could only get one monument wildcard for Paris-Roubaix. At least that.
Bewley as the obvious favourite but i hope that Burghardt can win it finally. Otherwise, Vanspeybrouck would be kinda cool after Bpost failed to deliver in recent C1 cobbled classics.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

After investing in Blythe I really need him to prove his cobble worth here and get me some points. After not scoring (as a team) as well as last year so far, I really need to pick things up now to survive the rest of the season.

Been looking forward to this, the Ronde is always interesting with the steep hills.
Should be between Bewley and Burghardt, best on the cobblestones and strong on the hilss both of them... Most likely Bewley with his finish
I hope Zepuntke will give us a good result, top 5 is more than I expect so I will rejoice if he can manage that. In genereal top 10 and I will be happy, lower than that will be dissapointing

Hills might be too tough for Senechal but maybe he can score some points. Thanks for doing this roturn.

What a year for Bewley, wow! Sub-par performance from Jacobs, not that I expected much.

Bewley is becoming annoying Nah, what a beast. Congrats, Roman!
Pretty happy with the result/performance! Burghardt with a nice 2nd and Visconti adding a similar strong 11th is great. Kinda impressive to see Visconti/Grivko working that hard for Burghardt. Grivko must have been collapsed once he got dropped!
Missing a win is always a bit sad, but there is one clear winner and that's fine. Strong result for Metinvest, Avin should be happy when back from holidays.
Thanks for another enjoyable quality report, roturn. Will have to wait to watch the video though

What a ride from Bewley, he really is having an insane season. Winning after 55km solo just shows how superior he is compared to the others. Congrats to Roman. |

If all the other managers vote unanimously, can Bewley be banned for the rest of the season? Grudging congrats to Roman and thanks to Roturn, a fair result for us.

Can only say what others have said, Bewley really is a beast, congratulations Roman!
For us it's a slight disappointment to be that anonymous, but Kristoff seemed to be at the wrong place at the wrong time considering the splits. Hopefully he can improvein Paris-Roubaix!
Thanks for the report, roturn |
