The Chrono des Herbiers is possibly the second most prestigious time trial in the world, after the World Championships. This year already sees its eighth edition.
The profile is quite simply a relatively flat TT. The French Vendée may have its hills and other difficulties, but this race is traditionally flat.
As is expected, the PT's best time trialists have headed to this race, as well as two PCT teams.
The two top favourites are the two usual suspects, Phinney and Coppel. The latter managed to win this race last year, as well as in 2012. Phinney, world champion ITT, came third last year, behind Ignatiev. Aside from last year's podium, there are of course many outsiders. Cancellara already managed to win here in 2013, and is hoping to improve on last year's 11th place. Oz duo Durbridge/Ford should also be able to pull off a good result. Last year's 5th Kittel should stand a chance, as well as Kritskiy, Yatsevich and Sergent. However, the further we go, the less likely the winner appears. Many more outsiders are present, I just recommend looking at the startlist for that...

Podium as the Main goal, two in Top-5 would be great
Definitely afraid of bad daily form, but with three 79+ guys we should at least score a nice points haul. Coppel and Phinney though should easily go for the 1-2, so it's kinda 'random' between guys like Ford/Durbridge, Kittel, Cancellara or Ignatiev.
Given our season so far, we have to grab a 3rd place!

My bet for the win is Phinney.
It will be really hard to achieve something like last year with Mikhail, but i hope for the top5 after few very bad TTs for Metinvest this year. Zmorka can also fight for late top10 or early top15 hopefully.
All will depend on the daily form...

No expectations here whatsoever for our team.
It will be interesting to see Phinney vs. Coppel, which really could go either way. The pan flat course should favour the Frenchman, but you can never write Phinney off.
And this really is the test for how unpredictable the AI can be in a TT in this version, looking forward to see the gaps created. |

A top 10 would be nice for Yatsevich. Depending on the AI it could go either way though. He could even get top 5 or he could struggle to get top 15.
I think Coppel will win this one.

Ah yeah, our first wildcard. Was pretty low priority to be fair but still curious what we can do here.
Van Winden is not exactly a favourite, and a Top 5 is out of question, but if somehow he can squeeze into the Top 10, it'd be very nice.

Ian I admire your enthusiasm but a long flat chrono 'awesome' Necessary of course to give the chrono boys a chance to beat the flatnose phinfreak.
Jerry Copp failing to defend would be a disappointment I guess - Phinney has not won this so he should be determined to get it right. Top 5 acceptable for Canc - yes my other two riders are here as shameless XP gathering...

Well if Dillier has a really good day he could top 10.

Hoping for any sort of decent result, but I doubt that happens.

Oh my, amazing result for Metinvest, gratz. Between MSR and Chrono des Nations they have really come to life in PT.

Wow a very surprising chrono result there - first non Red Bull winner for a couple of years.
Great result for Metinvest - appallinf result for Coppel and Phinney and a lot of chrono guys. For Phinney it is a waste of two precious race days and for Coppel it is a waste of a race he would expect to podium for sure.
Was it wind? Daily form? Interesting that it really did have extreme effect here.
