Spoiler Reports are made by SN and are, I believe, posted by roturn
The Omloop Het Volk may or may not be a new race on the calendar. For the last years it has been a one day race known as the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, or earlier on Omloop Het Volk. For this year some changes have been made.
As you can see from the profile, the race has become significantly different. Instead of one, there are now three stages. The first stage was known as the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, a heavy cobbled race. The second stage was known as Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne, a less heavy, but still heavy cobbled race. The third stage is new. A team time trial, with cobbles in it. This will be the decider of the race.
The favourites for this race should depend on cobbled strength, and to some extent the time trial power of the entire team.
Of course, that leads to Burghardt. He rides for Oz. Which is Oz with some real powerhouses on the time trial, such as Durbridge.
Bewley is of course a major name for the cobbles as well. He has a good sprint to support him. His TTT team is significantly weaker than Burghardt's though.
Cancellara should also be a good rider, being a good time trialist and cobbler. He however forgot to bring help for the team time trial, which he unfortunately may have to do all on his own.
The other elite cobblers are here as well. Blythe, Vanspeybrouck and Summerhill, among many, will have serious trouble beating the real favourites for this race though.

The most interesting race this season, imo. Really can't say how this TTT plays out. As I lack cobblers anyway, i brought my chronomen here. If they survive the stages before. Can easily see us struggling, hoping for some significant gains on the non-cobbled sectors.
Of course hoping for a nice selection in the road races. Burghardt probably won't win a stage, but he needs to be in the front groups. Anything but a Top-5 would be a fail. And I hate this pressure to bring in great results

I'm really looking forward to this, for the first time ever we're competitive on the cobbles, which will be gret to see
Burghardt is my pick for the overall, and I bet for him as well. I believe in Oz's powerful train for those TTTs. It will also be interesting to see what the wildcard teams can do. Both Summerhill and Vanspeybrouck are pure class on the cobbles, as they've proven on several occasions, and they should be able to mix it with the best here in the PT as well. I just hope Kristoff will be able to hang on and sprint to top 10s on the two first stages.
That TTT though.... Suspect I've got to be happy if we loose less than five minutes or so, if we get five riders through to the final day that is |

Yeah that TTT is like 20% cobbles at least so not sure how a TT monster with 50 cobbled will go. Fab has to try something on opening stage, if he doesn't then this will be a doomed race I fear.
Bewley easy favourite for me.

Have to say I'm really looking forward to seeing how that TTT will turn out. How many will actually make it all the way and how much energy will the pure TT'ers have left after two days of cobbles - not to mention whether cobble-skills or TT skill will be most important.

This is where it really gets interesting, I am looking forward to the cobbled TT. Not that I think we'll do well (I am, at the very most, hoping for a sneaky Senechal stage-win) but it's something that we haven't seen before and I don't know how it'll play out. Thanks for doing this Selwin.

To be fair, I actually didn't do this one, only the preview

I just want to see what my cobbled team can do here as a wildcard. I'm curious how it will handle my several possible leaders.
Hopefully cobbled stat is very important in the TTT because I'd be a great chance then.

I have written off this race. I simply couldn't call it, so I have a mixture of my three 76COB riders and some TT'ers who had some racedays left. So I guess we will get nothing, especially considering that my cobbled riders can't TT at all.
For the future it will be nice to see what this is all about, though, but all I can hope for, for now, is that I will score better than Vesuvio - Which depends on the final TTT though. I suspect we are both getting one or two riders in the top 50 if we are lucky

This is going to be interesting. Bewley has at least 2 helpers for cobbles here + five decent time trialists to help him in TTT. Anything less than a podium in Haaghoek would be a disappointment.

I've finally got a guy to compete in cobbled races, so I'm looking forward to this one immensely, especially with such a strange TTT!

Think Azteca or Bpost will smash it, wouldn't be surprised if Bpost wins the overall race.
As for us, probably similar shite we've been getting so far

Looking forward to this race, this should be really surprising bunch of stages and who knows what to expect.
I basically brought Nolf+TTT setup with not much cobble skills, so we can easily fail, but maybe surprise and get the top10 in GC with Frederik Nolf. Top5 in TTT would be cool too.
Burghardt is my pick for the GC.
Honestly not much to draw from the preview, just five-six cobbled favourites mentioned and not any mention of TTT strenghts, i think it could use bit more of insight, sorry Selwink.

I'm hoping Summerhill can hold his own on the first two days, don't see any real possibility that we avoid losing significant time in the TTT as we lack depth on the cobbles and have nothing on the team resembling good time-trialists.

Really interesting race this, the cobble-TTT could yield some interesting results.
I really hope that Zepuntke can do well, though someone like Bewley are the best bet I guess

Are you kidding me? What a pathetic gameplay, Nolf could probably stay with the group ahead, but he waits for 54 cobb Ignatiev just because of his overall?
Still enormous effort from Mikhail on his worse terrain and three riders in that +9mins group is still better then having them in bigger peloton more minutes back.
Oz loosing Rogers,ouch...
Thanks for the report.

Great result for zepuntke, also great result for the pct teams. Other than that... Screwed gameplay
Now zepuntke got a great chance of being best pt rider, that would be nice
