First PCT/CT Rankings Update

How are the rankings looking?

PCT

It's been a strong start to the season for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lvc.png La Vie Claire - which seems to be continuing in South Africa already - and after benefiting from the surprise AI in Tachira, it is they who top the table.

They are only on 19.5 points per race day though - while i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ven.png Venchi - Ferranti are up on 32.125. But after storming down under, the Van Stayen train did derail slightly in Hong Kong.

Bacardi and CSC-Orbea tie for 3rd, while Heineken hold the final promotion place in 5th. With Puma in 10th, it has been a decent start for last year's PT teams.

In terms of PpRD, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kar.png Karcher and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mei.png Meiji stand out with 19.5 and 19.1 respectively. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/qst.png Quickstep currently have the 5th best PpRD - 17.3.

Karcher are also the best promoted team so far, with Mobil 9th, plus Privatbank, Project Africa and Boeing all in the Top 15.

Down to the bottom, and it has clearly been a forgettable start to the season for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kzi.png Kazzinc. Lots of teams have a poor PpRD, but theirs is especially bad. Compal haven't had as good a start as their fellow 'relegation saved' teams CSC and Repsol, while Swedbank and Hornbach have also had a slow start. Of the many promoted teams, obly BelarusBank currently hold a relegation place.

Over in the individual standings, the 3 PCT riders to have won races lead the way, Van Stayen, Maillet and Kupfernagel. Behind them, it has been a good start for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/csc.png De la Fuente, while it is particularly impressive for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/jag.png Bennett to be up there in 5th.

What a start it has been for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ioa.png In-n-Out. As if winning the season opener Clasico San Cristobal was not enough, they have stormed to a very impressive 219 points haul at the Benelux Challenge. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/vtb.png Team Vontobel won the race with Wyss, but only took 130 points from it.

That places Vontobel 3rd, in between them are i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/esc.png Eddie Stobart, the breakaway kings. A number of wins have gone their way already, including a big victory at the C1 Tour of South China Sea.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/flg.png Fletcher-Garneau have started well in 4th - they topped the table after New Zealand, while i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ttt.png Team TomTom just about have the 5th promotion spot. New Zealand winners Asda-Savers, plus Bank of Ireland, are not far behind.

The top 4 teams have the best PPrD so far, while the 5th best is i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/nor.png Team Nordeus. They are in 9th, between Evonik and early leaders Nutresa.

Looking down, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/scl.png Siam Cement took a win in the Great Ocean classic but have not done much else, while pre-season favourites i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rse.png Risa-Ergon have raced the most race days, but don't have many points to show for it. It's been a poor start for all continuing CT teams. Sauber have just 25 points from 15 race days, while worse of all is i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Once-Eroski. 20 race days, 4 points. Ouch. The only reason they are not last is that Euskaltel have not raced yet.

Great start for Venchi. Fewer race days gives them a great advantage so far Smile

Never thought I'd see the day when the phrase "only 19.5 pprd" was used, especially in relation to my team. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts Pfft

tsmoha
I hate early season rankings Pfft Our PpRD ain't too special, but except of South China Sea, we were pretty much where I expected us to be in those races so far. TdU could have been better GC-wise and of course a Top-5 in DUC would have been better, too. But at least no disaster so far.

Our first important race (ToSA) will hopefully help us getting a comfortable early-season placement.. LaVie definitely with a strong start, I already smell promotion Wink

Cycleman123
Yeah I don't agree with the use of 'only' there. Great start for my favourites La Vie Claire as well Smile

I hate Maksimov. I really do...

8 pprd isn't great, but knowing the Tachira is in here, which was quite bad to be honest, I won't complain too much...

Nice to see some new teams doing really well. Quite funny to see Euskaltel Grin

I think I have to be happy with 9th place at the moment. I can only hope we're going to keep this position until the end of the season. Wink

Brilliant. Pfft

Looking forward to Simon Geschke starting his season. He surely should do great in the right races.

ONCE really horribly underperforming so far. 20 wasted race days so far. Good for them that there is no 4th division.

tsmoha
Quite interesting to see those 3 CT-teams, which did race Tachira, all at the very bottom of the CT-rankings.. especially Alpina and even more ONCE definitely have reason to regret applying for this race Wink

Will be interesting to see where Stobart ends up or how long their breakaway-luck can go on like that. Definitely a huge start anyway.

Great stuff SN. Wink Can we expect an update every month?

Just two races in January for Bonsucro and one in February I believe (Tour of the Middle East) so we will probably be in a similar position, having said that we are more than capable of making the podium in the middle east.

fintas
The season started in the best possible way for me, and the truth is that the stage victory in ToSA, plus good performance in Oman suggest that I can maintain a good position as well as a good PpRD. At this time take 16 race days with 15.5 PpRD (248pts).
Kazzinc with a horrible start but certainly better days will come

2 'weak' teams at the top of the table and then favourites Risa with 75 points from 21 racedays and other favourites ONCE not doing great.
And my team looking strong with 0 from 0. You watch guys, we are about to climb Grin

Dippofix
Ah, we're surprisingly high up for a team without a win and with only one podium, but we've shown great conistency so far. Smile

Hopefully we can take things to another level when Mendes starts his season for real. Smile

Nice to see we are in the running for promotion, question is: How long will Stobart's break away trend end?

Despite the AI being terribly annoying sometimes 11th. Serebriakov can only improve from now on, so top-10 should be possible.

Hmm, Cant say this was completly unexpected, but scoring a few more points was definatly expected.. Will really have to step up now to have anything to cheer for at the end of the season
