It's the 4th monument of the year. The oldest of them all. And also the last classic race before we head into Grand Tour season.
La Doyenne route remains the same. With the race route going through Cote de La Roche-en-Ardenne, the infamous Cote de La Redoute, Cote de La Roche-aux-Fancons and finally the Cote de Saint-Nicolas and the final ascend in the town of Ans where after 250 kilometres of racing a fairly innocent looking hill turns into brutal last ditch effort to claim the victory.
Here are also favourites for the race:
What are your favourites? |

Martin!
Is that favourites list scientific or something? Because Geschke is way to high up there. Ulissi is definitely more likely to win it, imo.

Geschke mustn`t be underrated. He is really strong at the moment and should be fresher without Fleche Wallone in his legs.
I expect a top10-15 of him and think he will be ahead of Ulissi. |

The list is based on form and experience of these riders in these sort of races. Geschke's form is very high at the moment and he is the leader of his team where as Ulissi is not in fantastic form and it's unclear who will be the leader at Lampre with Rui Costa and Cunego in it as well. |

Cunego is their leader in my eyes, but he was plagued by unluck.
And Kwiato for the win.
Die hard fan of Tom Boonen and Quickstep since 2004.

Valverde and D.Martin are clear favourites. I'm not sure Gilbert can stay with the best, climbs are too hard for him and isn't as good as in 2011..
I'll cheer for Nibali, Purito and Mollema.
Dont'underestimate the guys coming from Trentino , like Scarponi, Pozzovivo , Niemec, Machado , Duarte.. |

I don't care who wins, but would be really excited if Meintjies got a top 30 or so.

At time of writing, 11 people don't think Arashiro will finish in the top 20? Who and more importantly what are you?

If no one leaves Valverde behind, I bet he'll have it.
But then again, this is a long race... |

Wow, I don't think all these last min drop outs this season are coincidental now. Too many of them.
P.S Betancur also didnt start.

What is up with Froome? Now that he has a fat contract and has won the Tour, he seems to lose the edge and is always ill or has another issue. Gues it's true: It's easy to get to the top but it's hard to stay there.
Ah, finally Liege, waited too long for that. One more hour. I'm always so excited for this race, easily one of my top 3 races.
Rooting for J-Rod. After so much bad luck in the Ardennes, he deserves to get his big one.

So the break of the day consists of:
Matteo Bono (Lampre - Merida)
Pirmin Lang (IAM Cycling)
Michel Koch (Cannondale)
Pieter Jacobs (Topsport Vlaanderen - Baloise)
Jaco Venter (MTN - Qhubeka)
Marco Minnaard (Wanty - Groupe Gobert)
The gap is around 13 minutes.
