I would like to know if anyone here follows and is interested in Cricket?
If so here is a thread to discuss tournaments and tours.

Australia vs India 20/20, great game . When we put 202 on the board I thought we had it, but those Indians always find a way don't they?

Just switched on Eurosport 2 for Tirreno Adriatico but still no liver coverage.
Instead Nepal - Bangladesh cricket!!!
It`s actually the first ever time I see cricket on German TV as it`s one of the less famus sports here.
Cricket taking over I guess. |

Sky reporter is an idiot then. He was hit right in what is called the death spot, and knowing that it was obvious he wouldn't make it. The artery bursts straight away and that's that. Only 100 cases have ever been reported.
That being said, it's an absolute tragedy. I was on the phone when I found out and I just had to hang up and I sat there for a while, because the magnitude is just enormous. Here in Australia he's so loved, and he was one of my favourite cricketers. An absolutely amazing guy. So sad

I don't think the reporter is an idiot really, just phrased it badly. The chance of this happening when a bouncer is bowled is probably even less than one in five million, but the design of helmets doesn't fully protect the batsman as well as it should. Regardless, it's basically unprecedented at this level of Australian cricket as far as I'm aware and everyone was just totally stunned when it happened.
Very sad news indeed, while I wasn't exactly a huge fan of him he was a very well-respected player who always showed a willingness to work hard and improve his game. He achieved an incredible amount for such a young man. The first Aussie player to score a century in his ODI debut and managed quite an incredible number of international caps for someone only 25 years old.
A lot of tributes being paid both by domestic sports competitions and also by international cricket, players at the Aus Open golf wearing black ribbons, moments of silence being held across the country and the ongoing Pakistan test match being delayed out of respect. Just goes to show what a great and popular guy he was. RIP

Seen it on the news earlier today, the New Zealand players were visibly shocked by what has happened and apparently had a moments silence in the dressing room to remember him and as Australia's bitter rivals that was nice to see |

Yeah it's great to see this kind of respect between all the cricketing nations. Australia/New Zealand is actually more of a friendly rivalry than Australia/England, and since there is a series each year between the two countries they probably knew him more than a lot of other international teams.
No news yet on whether or not the Australia/India series is going to be postponed, it was due to start in less than a week but it's difficult to see the Aussie team being ready to play any time soon.

I am sure he would have wanted the series to go ahead but maybe postpone it for the time being at least |

New Zealand delayed the second day of their Test Match vs Pakistan to remember Phil Hughes. He was one of my favourite cricketers from Aussie and deserved to play more for them and he was about to get his chance again vs India. The whole cricketing world was and still is schocked at what happened. No one has died during a game since the introduction of proper helmets, I believe, so it was so unexpected. The test between them and India should go ahead but some players won't be upto it in the present and near future.
Also feel for Sean Abbott, the bowler, there is absolutely no way he would have thought that bowling that bouncer could kill someone and I can't imagine what he must be going through. People need to continue to make sure he gets support and keep him out of cricket for a while.

Sean Abbott has sort of been the forgotten person of all this, also hoping he gets all the support possible. Hughes used to actually play for New South Wales alongside Abbott a few years back so it's a really horrible situation for him to be in, fortunately the Hughes family and all the cricketing authorities are doing their best to help him too.
The test should go ahead at some point although quite a few of the Aussie team will likely not play, but as it's been said I think he would have wanted them to go ahead with the series as much as possible.

According to most reports Abbott's doing fine. I was really happy to hear that because he was looking pretty distraught when leaving the hospital.

Myself and a lot of friends are putting our bats out on the street as a sign of respect. Seems a lot of people are doing it.

In the soccer last night Victory got a free kick at 63 minutes, so they had a minute silence before continuing

The whole black caps team has bats and caps lined up on the aide of their fielf in their game vs Pakistan. McCullum also has P.H. On his shirt under the NZ logo and when he got 50,100,150 and 200 he barely celebrated at all, same with Williamson.
