Tour de Serbie discussion thread

The stage racing season continues in earnest with a six stage race in Serbia. It is a mixed route of flat stages at either end with two nasty hilly stages in the middle.

We have a really decent sized field here of 13 CT squads, with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/pvl_zps0bcc4e74.png Pivovarna Lasko dropping in from the PCT ranks.

The bookending short pan flat stages has attracted the top sprinting names of this level.

A hilly rider must be short odds for the overall, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Iberia have probably the headline name in this regard through i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Joaquin Rodriguez, though

Purito for the overall... should be an interesting race.

Purito should be the strongest here. Let's hope he can create a gap on one of the hilly stages

Vorganov not mentioned? I'm sad now...

Let's hope Maksimov can get two stage wins Wink

Ciocan, bonus seconds to hang in the hilly stages. Grin

Looking forward to this race. Should be a good one.

Haha, funny preview Smile

I wonder how much impact the climbing stat has in those hilly stages as they look quite mountainy. Maybe that would give Marzano a chance. But even then the big favorite is Rodriguez.

Surprised to see no Sauber with Schurter. Stage 3 is perfect for him.

As for Gazelle; we hope for gaps in the hilly stages, a GC top 5 for Furdi and an offensive Vangenechten in the flat stages.

Hopefully Chaoufi and Schinker can achieve something here to collect some points. Don't know how Chaoufi will deal with the tough hilly stages but hopefully a top 5 overall is possible.

A little annoyed that i have to use Marzano here. Two of the races he was meant to race clashed with each other (rookie mistake), and there was no more mountains left for him to capture. The third stage should suit him well though. And a top five should be in reach.

No real sprinter in this race though, so we need to do good on the two hilly stages.

Going to follow this race, should be fun as the hill stages are pretty mountainous.

Schinker 4th Grin Didn't expect that, his best result since January. Hopefully he can continue doing well. In theory we could collect some good points here.

while stage 3 would have been a brilliant match for Schurter, this year we are goign all in for the Asian Tour goal.

as such apart from the 21 days of America Schurter's only trip out of the asian continent was the Tropicale Amissa Bongo(in the end this would have been a better choice due to lack of gaps in Africa and a puncture making him lose 5 mins+ on the final stage) and Lugano because it was a one day race in his home country

in fact the only Asian race we miss is the HC one day Japan Cup on the final day of the season.

Any way back to this race and it definately looks like one Rodriguez will do really well in, I hoipe for his sake he won't have to do anything for Lay in the flat stages.

It should be an interesting race to follow especially if the riders can create some gaps on the harder stages.

2nd, yes Grin

Weird that Schinker does well in January, fails up until now and then starts doing well again. Too bad he was overtaken by Lay, but he should be thrashing Nico anyway.

Bad. That' is.
