 Puusepp/ Guardini
 Pranata/ Sohrabi (Armavia)
and  Manan (Meiji) lead the PCT raiders.
Meiji of course headline in this second Japanese stage race added to the calender and who knows how their mainly Japanese squad will tackle this one
 Gazelle are hilly beasts and Westra will look to gain a provisional advantage from the opening TT blast.
 Sauber's Schurter,
 Risa's Feillu,
 MTN's Ngue,
 Iberia's Sammy Sanchez,
 Banco's Jumabekov
and  Allianz's Okrouhlicky complete what looks a very evenly matched punchaer line up.
On the sprinting side riders like Sutton, Dekkers, Lay and Day have shown winning form in the Crits and C2 races alike.
Media interest is also high in the  JK Cycling team Belgian sprinter Peeters may be more likely to give them success.

Why on earth did I not send Sonnery? Anyway, Puusepp should take a top 10, ditto Koretzky, while Guardini could surprise in the sprints. |

Gaps in the prologue won't be over 20 seconds but gaps need to form on the hilly stage. Otherwise the prologue will still be decisive. Sanchez is the best puncher here so let's hope he shows so.
Let's hope Lay can take another win in the sprint. He has a good prologue aswell so who knows a day in the leaders jersey.

I doubt we will see some gaps in the hills, Peeters is my dark horse for the surprise. Good luck to all, with tiny startlist like this, many teams can get some result.

That went really great! Chacon on third is more than I expected. He should be able to stay at the front on the hilly stage aswell.
Lay in the top 10 already, should take the jersey tomorrow hopefully. (Will probably fuck over my hopes in the hilly stage though  )
And Samu isn't far off either

Sorry to the quick preview/stage 1 posting. Wanted to have the chance to report stage 2 this evening and the other two stages tomorrow.
Also had some slight graphics issues with Gazelles frame - which is why I went for an overhead of Westra in the TT picture.

Our riders aren't too far back after that prologue although I get the feeling it will be hard for them to create any gaps on the hilly stage and that this could come down to bonus seconds.

Didn't have any expectations, but decent TT for us. Unlikely that our riders will climb much on the rankings if we don't get a breakaway success, so we're kinda stuck to that hope.
Sohrabi might surprise in the sprints, but I predict the two stages are a little too flat for him. |

Bad TT, as expected.. Sutton and Jørgensen should manage to get a few points in the sprints and hopefully Feillu and Rake can do something on the hilly-stage.

Hoping Ngue can somehow pull of a result like the 2nd overall in Tour of Norway. But, I'm not expecting much. Pretty strong field here.

Go Mundle, shame his long breakaway effort didn't workout as we don't really have any good sprinters here, atleast he's catipulted himself up the GC and managed to hold onto the pack once caught.

Good!  Glad we won but PCM is just so amusing. Every race Lay has ridden so far we form leadouts except when Anton Martin, the only capable leadout men in our team, is there. Bystrom was not bad but clearly lost some space on JK. Still impressive comeback from Lay.
For the overal, I'm not sure it's good. Lay leading means we will do the pace. Valencia and Toribio should tire a lot of riders on the hills, which is good, but will probably drop Lay aswell. Let's hope Sanchez doesn't drop back.

Well done Westra! 
But the gaps in such a short TT are not enough of course. So we still need a very selective stage 3. Otherwise the sprinters will take this one.
The field is small and there's a good amount of strong puncheurs. So it should be possible.

Lay dropped as expected. Still he put up a good fight. A shame to see Chacon drop with him though as he would have had a very good GC position otherwise.
Samu in 5th is about what I expected. Too bad he just got pipped on the line.

Meiji and Gazelle are both clearly in a nice run of form at the moment. Nearly a big win on home soil for the Japanese champion there!

Westra!
Risky tactic by Gazelle. By only chasing instead of attacking we might have allowed some sprinter to hang on. And there was a chance of Westra missing out on a group that's too strong to chase down.
But luckily the race was hard enough and the domestiques were strong enough, so the tactic actually paid off. All sprinters were dropped and a fresh Westra produced a smart and strong sprint, helped by the fact that many important competitors had spent a lot of energy already.
98km of chasing remaining. We don't like chasing, but for a GC win we'll happily do it. And don't you dare win that last sprint, Murakami!
