Issue #4 of the Cobbler is 90% completed. It will not be published until we have the results of the East Midlands Cicle Classic -- most likely the later part of next week.
Included in Issue #4 will be:
Results from Omloop Het Nieuwsblad & East Midlands Cicle Clasic
Previews for Gent Wevelgem, Dwars Door Vlaandaren and Ronde van Vlaandaren
An interview with Pokerstars manager beagle
and Stats and Standings thru East Midlands.
Issue #5 will be titled "L'enfur du Nord"

I don't know if there is a pun on it that I can't catch but it should be titled "L'enfer du Nord".
We might sound repetitive but it has to be said as much as possible.
Mhaley, you are doing a fantastic job with the Cobbler, it's an awesome initiative.
It would be great to have similar editors for other kinds of races but I think it might not work because the cobbles have this mystic that other terrains don't have (and this is a complete profane of the cobbles world who's speaking but I really enjoy reading this mag).

Cobble-races are something of their own, so it's fantastic to have a magazine about it Keep up the good work!

If Nuyens continues that way, there might be one available
I have to see how many strong departments are possible with the PCT wage cap and race day distribution next season, so it might really be the case.

Should be cool to hear from beagle - though I am guessing it is before Boonen's brainfreeze at Omloop .

ggdonovan:
My french is 1 year in high school decades ago, I am however pleased you seek double meanings in my errors and misspellings.
Cobbling is a unique sub culture within the sport of cycling. To attempt a fanzine on Sprinting you would become immediately frustrated as the PCM12 AI would never cooperate and attempts to bring clarity to a race would be lost in the chaos of sprint trains.
Cobbling seemed to be the ideal choice as the AI somhow seems to perform better or at least more consistently, the riders are a smaller subset to manage and the races are old and established.
All that said I was not smart enough to make my decision based on those factors. It just so happens that the cobbles define the kinds of riders I love to watch. Too ride the cobbles well you have to ride hard and on the upper limit of your ability. To slowdown and to ride safely is to jar yourself unmericifully into exhaustion, but to ride hard you risk everything for if you do crash you are almost always damaged.
It is fun to try and make sense of these races and riders. I have new ideas that have come to mind only becasue I am producing the Cobbler, so hopefully some of them can come to mature into new features and aides after the Spring season winds down.
Keep reading and as a tickler a few possible features I am considering;
- Having a tournament to select the best Jersey of 2013
- a list of all ManGame cobble results -- Cobblers Encyclopedia
- Maybe even having a CTT -- Cobble Time Trial
- The new non-ManGame races beg for a cobblers off season deveopers cobble race series
- A Cobble World Championship race
- An excell scouting worksheet that will help you project new/Free Agent riders
What kinds of things would you the fans want to see in the Cobbler?

The Cobble WC sounds great (especially if you used my Roubaix WC variant)
And the rest all sound good anyways.
Can't wait for the next issue!

The Cobbler works very nicely because there ultimately isnt that many cobbled races. Would be nice to see more people have a go at stuff like this though.
But in terms of your ideas:
Definately not "An excel scouting worksheet that will help you project new/Free Agent riders"
Im not going to stop people posting projections of their own riders, but thats where the line stops. People willing to put in the effort to calculate that should be able to consider that time well spent - not be undermined by somebody giving that information to all, of which will include people who can't be bothered to calculate that themselves.
Also against "A Cobble World Championship race.". The 2012 Worlds did feature cobbles, but there's only ever going to be one World championship style race per season.

The ideas for the Cobbler were just that "IDEAS". Whether any of them come to pass will require the support of the ManGame leadership.
The idea of creating a worksheet for scouting cobblers is a dangeruous one and while it has the ability to be a nice tool it also takes away the knowledge that only cobble racing time can teach you.
The idea of a cobble World championship is interesting to think about, but within the context of the sport it is not needed. SN's point that there is one WC made that very clear.
It is always important to share your ideas. Getting a wide range of opinions will minimize your chances of creating a new idea/concept that will not be successful.
The Cobbler is not even 4 issues old yet, so we are not going to race to find new features. Our goal for season 1 will be to become a valuable resource for all of you cobble race fans. We see the best ways to do that are with informative race previews, post race summaries and with numbers and stats that will give you a new way to guage and judge performance of the ManGames cobblers.
Toss in some fun little tangent stuff like "Ask Bobke", The Podium Girls and manager and rider interviews and we can have fun and be informative.

Enjoyed this issue mhaley, especially the interview with 'beagle'. I wonder how high you would have gone for Boonen, I still feel I got a pretty decent deal with Fabian between us.
I think Summerhill and Pozzato have been the surprises in the cobbles so far and of course no wins for Boonen yet.
Any thoughts mhaley on the upcoming crit series in Belgium?

The Cobbler is looking for a Stage Maker to explore the possibility of creating a Cobbled & Uphill Time Trial.
This would not be for ManGame consideration, just for fun like the Crit Series.
If you would like to give this project a try please send me a private message.
For a rough concept of what I am envisioning
https://www.mediafire.com/view/?gp1hb1...12tdprj6l1
If the concept works I may ask Tsmoha to add it to the 2014 Crit Series.
Looking forward to hearing from your stage creators.

Shouldn't be too hard to create a proper cobbled TT, i guess. But i wonder how PCM handles a cobbled TT? I once made a Roubaix-TT, but don't remember if the cobblers did better than a non-cobbles TT-specialist.
If such a stage plays out well, i would definitely consider an opportunity to add it to the Crits-Series, as kind of a prologue to a Series, for example. But it's too early to confirm anything
