Hi, I'm new to the game and I don't know if there is another thread on the subject cause I got tired of looking for it. But I wan't to know if the AI is good a picking the riders for the upcoming races taking in account the year calendar and their training programs or is that something you have to do yourself. I'm also very new to the cycling world in general so I would appreciate some suggestions. Thanks! |

In PCM 2011, you control your own team and pick your own riders for a particular race, the AI controls all other teams, and if you ask me, I think it does a fairly good job in picking riders.

In my game the AI almost always registers riders to races they wouldn't normally ride. I don't know how to fix it though |

When it comes to grand tours however, it does a fairly good job

Sort of...
When it comes to the Tour and Vuelta I agree with you, but riders like Evans, Nibali, Scarponi and Contador usually ride the Giro and the Tour, which they wouldn't in real like (except mabye Contador). |

Maybe with the training programs? I will just wait for him to get on and reply.

If you mean suggestions for PCM, there is a tips and tricks section: https://pcmdaily.com/tipstricks.php
But if you want specific answers you'll have to ask specific questions |

Thanks guys! What I want to say is: I basically need help with the season planing... what guys to pick for what races. I don't need you to pick them for me just to give me an overall idea on a good method to get my cyclers in the best shape to their target races and to avoid burning them out.

You need Lachi's Season Planner. That is excellent. Unfortunately, I can't find a link to it. |

I got it, but I still don't know the criteria I have to use to select the riders and the races besides selecting them to their favorite races. |

Well, even if they're pointless in PCM11, I like to plan my careers based on the sponsor goals (if they're realistic, of course). If you're playing with a big team, they'll probably be quite realistic. If you're playing with a smaller team, then most chances are that the goals are completely unrealistic (e.g. win the TdF with Bretagne - Schuller), so you could try setting your own goals for the season.
But basically it should be about looking at your best riders and races that they could excel, assign them to those races in the planner and some races before so they reach the 'goal' races in good form. After that, assigning the team mates that will be with them through the races and after setting the races for all riders, creating/choosing a training schedule that fits their racing programme of the season. Well at least that's what I do, basically

Can you guys tell me how many days is normal for a cyclist to race in a year? |

"Normal", depends on the rider's role, how good he is, when does his season goals come (e.g. in the first part of the season on near the finish). The main fact is that, after 60 days of racing, the rider will lose 1 maximum racing fitness point after every 2 days of racing. So, with 70 days his max racing fitness will be 15, and so on. I'm not sure if there's a minimum racing fitness, in which the rider can have as many racing days but he'll at least have that. I remember reading something like this, but this table says the contrary (it also shows that it's not exactly 0,5 points/day after the 60-day limit):
https://pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthread....ost_452729
So if you're targetting the Vuelta, for example, you'll want your rider to reach there with less than 40 days, so he won't lose fitness. This will probably mean that the rider will finish the season with about 70 racing days in his belt. However, if another rider's goals were all in the first half of the season, you could decide to use him as a team-mate in the late-season races, and he could finish with over 90 days. The fitness of your team-mates don't matter so much, it's mainly for the leaders. A rider can do a good work as a team-mate despite having 90 fitness, but your leader won't have that differential if he's 10 points away from his peak
