The reason I enjoy my current career is because I have, for the first time, gotten so far into the game that I've started seeing major riders retire and their stats decreasing rapidly. I'm starting on the 2014 Giro and I'm not tired of my career yet (whoopi!), but I have a plan...
I'm thinking of starting a new career with a custom team full of crap riders (stats around 60) and simply simulate my way up to the year 2030! I won't sign any big riders, I won't take part in races, I will simply watch as the game creates a whole new reality before my eyes.
Does this sound like a good idea to you? And have you done something similar?

I'm sorry to say Nay, for one reason only:
It would be interesting, especially to see whether new riders would become new legends. But it would take you too much time to simulate up until 2030, I don't think that'll be a fun thing to do. But if you are up to it, I'm curious about the year 2030! |

Good luck simulating to 2030 without the game crashing every day
I didn't get further than 2026, and I guess something like 2022 would be best. Contador with 73 MO attacking on his last Tour would be fun to read

You say 2030 is to far?
Did NASA say that the moon was to far? Did Freddy Mercury say "that note is to high"? Did George Lucas say "No, 3 Star Wars movies is enough"? Did the builders of the worlds tallest building say that 829 meters was to high? Did Ochsi, the maker of the world longest hotdog, say that 203 meters was to far? No, because they were brave!
Dare to dream! I promise ... no! I swear that I will make it to 2030! To go where no man has gone before, see what no man has seen and taste what has yet to be tasted! This will be my moon landing, my discovery of America without only half as much syphilis!

I believe that this community should commit itself to achieving the goal, before 2030 is out, of reaching 2030 and having the game safe with no crashes.
(it's actually impossible to reach 2030 before 2030, but not before 2030 is out )
More seriously, it's not a bad idea. I'm just not sure what are we supposed to discuss in this thread

YAY! Go for it cactus-jack follow your dreams!!!
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring.

Update:
I have now made a German team with 10 riders who are all scouted (even picked up two future greats, not that it matters much). I will prolong the sponsor contract in the editor aswell as the contracts of my riders. Should I run out of money (or similar) I will fix it in the editor. There will be no participation in the game from my side what so ever.
Whatever happens happens. I will make more detailed reports as I progress in the game.

If you don't care about the results of the first years, then there is a trick how to simulate faster by skipping all races.
1. Start the career and simulate some races (so that the teams get some points)
2. Edit your save and go to the table GAM_config
3. Copy the value from fkIDstage_last into fkIDstage_current
4. Create an new cdb file and load it
No races should be raced anymore, so no simulation but also no points for riders and teams and no price money.

Isn't it also possible to just put your mouse button on December 31 and click simulate without interference? |

I said you can SPEED UP the simulation. You still have to sit and click. |

They need to just have a simulate button or something. I'm excited for this, to see teams rise from the bottom and to see great teams fall. |
