I'm sure I'm not the only one who lacks motivation for playing the game. I don't think I've had a decent career in over 6 months. Whenever I'm about to choose a team, none of them seems interesting. So my thought for this thread is to for example set up different scenarios for each other, which we then follow up and see if you make it or not. Other means to increase a players motivation is of course also welcome.

Examples of good scenarios:
- Create a 30% custom team with no riders under the age of 30, half of the riders needs to of the same nationality. You are only allowed to sign new riders under 24, and of course half of them needs to be of the same nationality as before. Promote to the WT in max 2 seasons, and win your first monument in 3 seasons. You are also to do a top 5 in a GT in those 3 seasons.

- Be the manager of Garmin. Within 2 seasons you are to half the wages, while also 3/4 of the team has to be from the US. So signing young and unknown riders is recommended. You have to win ToC and USAPCC at least once, take the green jersey in TdF at least once and also win a monument in the first two seasons.

I have limited imagination so my scenarios may not be that good, but I'm sure you folks will do better.

Examples of bad scenarios:
- Do the Ardennes-triple with Gilbert again.

- Win all the 3 GTs with Radioshack in the first season.

The more detailed the scenarios are, the better they are.

Sky

Within the first season win the first 2 of the 5 monuments. Try to win the Yellow and Green Jersey in the same Tour. With Sky getting worldwide recognition, try to promote British cycling even more. In the transfer period sign more than 75% British riders and gradually get 'rid' of your big international talents and depend on results from all your Brits.

EBH is fed up with doing all the job for Cav. Whenever his contract is up he will leave the team immediately, don't renew his contract.

It's probably not the best scenario, but it definitely makes the game interesting and fun to play as one of the bigger teams.

Interesting. Do we also get to negotiate next year's budget and the possibility of a new scenario after the current one runs out? Pfft

Seriously, this seems nice. Although I find winning a monument in a max 3 seasons with a 30% custom team quite hard Wink But then again I don't know how good of a team you can build with 30% custom, so it might not be Pfft

I've tried playing with Sky ever since the game was released, but I never get past the classics, but I have no idea why. Maybe I should try again Smile

EDIT: If I do, I will restart the save until EBH has a contract to 2014 Wink

Try this then - Do the Ardennes-triple with Nordhaug Pfft

With Sky it's personally, if you like them a lot. You will play quite nicely, if you don't really. You might not finish the game and end early Pfft

But I guess this is same for every team. The team you like most is the one usually you should have most enjoyment out of. I personally tried few Conti's team but I stopped fast.

Of course you can extend the scenario after the current one is finished, you decide that yourself.

Giro di Lombardia is the monument to go for if you don't like challenges Smile I remember winning it with Nicholas Roche on PCM10. I peaked specifically for this race, and as most of the other riders are way out of form, it shouldn't be that much of a challenge.

With Vacansoleil win a monument, five Grand Tour stages and any individual classification of a grand tour. Do this whilst knocking a quarter off your wage bill.

Actually Sky is my favorite team (not because of EBH and Nordhaug), simply because I'm anglophile Smile So I have no idea why I can't get a real career with Sky going.

HTC Revival ( this is my plan for a long story for PCM 12 here so don't steal it guys ^^ Pfft )

The team found the backer and will start again at Pro Conti level. Within 2 years qualify to the WT. 50% of the team has to be American, while the rest can be multi-national. George Hincapie and Matty Hayman wanted to end their careers mentoring younger riders and their opportunity arrived. Those two veterans will teach the younger generation the trade of cycling.

You can extend this scenario really well, but this one should be to each individual to decide his goals etc. Try to repeat the success like the old HTC. Find the new start sprinter and create leadout worthy of High-Road or focus on climbers and try to create US Psotal days again at HTC !

Keep the suggestions coming, and I'm sure someone will find them interesting Smile As my last save was with Vacansoleil, I'll pass one this one.

I know, it was more of a joke because if we did that we'd be basically doing an 'online sponsor' system (since Cyanide's one is so crappy).

This sound very interesting. I like that you get that personal touch with Hayman and Hincapie. Although I don't like teams that are focused around sprinters, as they typical sprinter is way too limited and uninteresting for my type of gaming.

That's why he said you could revive US Postal instead

Ah, obviously didn't read that last line.

Try creating a new German team, and bringing the country back to the top of the sport.

Be a country like Morocco that isn't well known for cyclists, and try and go 100% nationalistic and win the PT, signing youth riders.

I've had the German team idea for some time, but the lack of the Deutschland Tour has kept me from executing my plan.

Your second suggestion is good, but will take a lot of time, and I bet you will need at least 10 seasons to win the WT.

I will try this scenario, and post how the season went in this thread.

EDIT: And by the first 2 monuments, do you mean MSR and RvV?

Not really, 2 / 5 monuments in the season. MSR, LBL & GdL are Sky's best shots. Good luck mate Wink

Now both of those are really nice, and if you want you could do the second one with, say Algeria, that already have a couple of conti teams Grin Maybe I'll try it Pfft

When you need a challenge: When Ronde van Vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix with Euskaltel.... But I think, you won't be motivated with this that long Cool
