New betting Year, new thread to comment.
And probably another year where I will have less than 1% winning bets.
But maybe I can win the Langkawi overall bet with Robert Förster. At least I could earn lots of money with him.
Spoiler Who chose him as favourite? Probably a mistake, wasn`t it?

There was such a thread last year? I've only seen about it now. Probably because I never scrolled down the forums past the Man Game.
It wasn't my worse start of the year so far, 2/8. Betting in the early season is tough.

Well, I'm not quite sure who does the bets, but he certainly misjudges the abilities of German sprinters recently...
I already found it very irritating that in both Oman stages Kittel won, he neither was a concretely named favourite (which he clearly was pre-race, surely more than Wagner or Gatto), but Förster as overall bet for a stage race including a mountain, no matter how long or steep it is, is quite...surprising.
Good luck with that bet, roturn, I certainly won't bet a single cent on that

No worry. I wouldn`t bet a single cent on him neither. I just had a smile on my face when seeing it as he is one of the sprinters without any climbing skilly at all. |

Also placed a bet on Langkwaki, Danielson, simpely because Vino is rehabilitating and wont go for the overal, and i dont know how Rujano's form is, the last race he did was back in south america months ago.
So for me Danielson was the most likely bet!

Went for another rider on the Langkawi bet. Just because it's more or less impossible to know whether any of the top names will be in form, and most likely, none of them are.
Therefore I find another rider being a more tempting choice.

I went for Rujano, cause I think he's already in form while preparing for the Giro. Vino? Nah, too old I think.

Wow, some incredibly strong line ups heading to Omloop Het Nieuswblad. BMC taking enough potential leaders for the rest of the peloton? As unlikely as it is given team role and competition, I'd love to see Eisel wind back the clock.

Well, I decided to start doing some more bets, like Oman, and Langkawi, and Het Nieuswblad because we don't always get them up and I have some free time.
Unfortunately, when I started to put up the Langkawi bet, as an example, I started to pick the favourites after writing my little blurbs and setting up the other bits and pieces. I realised that pretty much no GC favourites were actually entered into the DB, so unless I wished to re-write/do the bet, I had to choose riders who were on. It just so happened that Forster was. Maybe I gave him bad odds, but oh well, you'd be a fool to pick him.... unless he went away in a breakaway and won by minutes.
As to forgetting Kittel, that truly was a massive mistake, and I made more than one for Oman.
In other areas, I am open to requests for interesting race bets - so if you want to bet on your favourite race (that isn't a high profile one) and I'm very happy to hear feedback so I can improve.

I had $310 after TDU, but I wasn't good in predicting the TOO, so I have a little money left. Voted for Boonen for het Nieuwsblad, because he showed he's in good shape.
And Rujano van Langkawi, because I think the terrain suits him well.

Not a bad start for me, i got 3 from 11 right, thanks to Slovakians performing well. Now go Danielson and Boonen

Arrrggghh better positioning by Gerrans would've been a win by bike lengths in stage 3 of Paris-Nice. Made up about 10+ bike lengths in the last 100m to lose by half a wheel. Thanks for blowing my monster 8PCM$ Simon!

I'd just like to extend my apologies to Gerrans - I will now stop betting on you and you can resume winning and not falling off your bike, apologies for any injury or embarrassment you may have suffered as a result of my cursing you with my betting attentions. |

Sagan at 15.00 to win the stage? He is not the big favourite, but with such an outside bet i must go with him

Kreuziger not being an option for Chieti?
Well i had to go with Velits, they should be both in very good form.

He made the shortlist, but I had to add worse options otherwise every rider would end up having crap odds. Or something like that. Blame my logic
