Welcome to Team EnergiFyn - TDC's first press conference this year.
The management staff have decided to make this press conference today January the 6th 2013 to talk about the new present season and the new shape of Team EnergiFyn - TDC in the year of 2013.
After the previous two years I'm very flattered to get yet another year as director sportif to prove my worth for the organization behind the team. My task is to achieve the sporting wishes and goals.
But before going too wide I want to talk about the team's philosophies and visions for the present and coming seasons.
The management behind the team, among them me, decieded to sit down and work out goals and visions of how, where and what the team will be like in the present and coming years.
* First of all we've agreed that we didn't want to go all in for a spot in the UCI - ProTour. Our vision is to build up a young and fresh team and benefit from our patience and only seek UCI-ProTour licence when we feel ready and prepared.
* With two danish principal sponsors and a solid root in Danish cycling, we want to keep as many Danes in our team, but only provided that they deserve a spot in the team. But in addition to the Danish development project, we also want to be more and more International orientated.
This vision is secured in our cycling schools in Italy and Great Britain. Through our great relationship with the schools we've got excellent possibilities to scout young talents and extend our horizon international.
* In respect of our sponsors visions we want to fulfil their goals as long as they are realistic and suitable to the team's visions. We believe that a strong and loyal cooperation between our sponsors will have impact on the team's moral if they are guaranteed a economic healthy company.
* At last we want to make an impact in the International cycling world, and be known as a strong and upcomming team with focus on teamspirit and personal development.
Here's a little teaser for our new team cloth.
Since TDC agreed a 3 year lasting contract as Co-sponsor last year, we've upgraded the jersey especially for for the present season.
We want to dominate the Continental Tour this year, and therefore the management agreed to put in more money to get some great signings. Since july last year we've worked out a great and competitive roster of riders.
Soon we'll present how the team performed through the two last seasons and we'll also present our racing calender, goals, sponsors and of course a presentation of our list of new signings and the full team.
From the management staff I would like to thank all of you who listened to this press conference.
Stay updated for upcomming news, and for now thanks!

Team EnergiFyn - TDC is not a very famous team yet. But this season will be different as we're getting bigger and bigger. But behind every great team is a history and therefore I want the world to know how we've performed the last two years and how the international cycling scene has performed.
In 2011 our team was named Team EnergiFyn, as TDC first began their sponsorship in 2012. We were ranked as one of the most poor team in the Continental Tour, but we proved us worthy for the Continental Tour with many great results.
Here's our list of riders in 2011
We achieved many great results and here are the greatest victories
Gp Herning | Jakob Bering | Gp di Lugano | Rasmus Sterebo | Bayern Rundfahrt (general) | Niki Østergaard | Post Danmark Rundt (general) | Rasmus Sterebo | Tour of Britain, stage 4 and 2 | Matias Greve and Rasmus Sterebo |
In the official Continental Tour rankings we were placed 10th in the overall team classification at the end of the year.
In the individual rankings Niki Østergaard was the best and he ended up with a top 10 spot as nr. 8.
| Individual | | Team | 1. | Bobbie Traksel | 1. | Skil - Shimano | 2. | Daryl Impey | 2. | Landbouwkrediet | 3. | Marcel Kittel | 3. | FDJ | 4. | Daniele Callegarin | 4. | Cofidis | 5. | Constantino Zaballa | 5. | Geox | | ... | | ... | 8. | Niki Østergaard | 10. | Team EnergiFyn |
The year in the UCI Pro Tour calender was also very exiting with some surprises. Here's a brief resume.
Andy Schleck won a quite controversial Tour de France. First everyone though that Contador was going to win the Tour because of a really powerfull first week, but an accident in one of the midway stages he lost 8 minutes. Therefore Andy Schleck took over the lead and survived the last days to Paris. Through the rest Tour Contador got stronger and stronger and actually won 2 stages which resulted in a podium spot under 3 minutes down on Schleck. Nibali actually didn't show much in the Tour, but he managed to get the 2nd spot on the podium through a great endurance.
The last Grand Tour in the season la Vuelta a España was Contadors last chance to get a Grand Tour victory after his unlucky Tour de France. But it just didn't worked out for him this year. But one it did worked out for was Samuel Sanchez. He dominated the Vuelta in a fantastic way. After winning 5 stages and 14 leader jerseys, he could crown him self as winner. Nobody were even close to Sanchez except for Cunego who ended up in 2nd spot with 2 stage victories. Contador finished the podium as 3rd.
Another great drama happened in Giro d' Italia. The startlist was quite weak for such a great race, so Cadel Evans was the sublime favourite for the win. And he didn't disapoint since he ruled the Giro from the start with 3 stage victories. But the most unlucky thing happened since he crashed out in stage 15, where Stefano Garzelli overtook the leading jersey. It was now up to the outsiders to get a fantastic win. Stefano Garzelli looked quite strong and was almost sure on his victory, but José Rujano made a great comeback in the final mountains to get the win. Garzelli took 2nd and Michele Scarponi finished the podium in 3rd.
The classics
UCI Pro Tour rankings
| Individual | | Team | 1. | Joaquim Rodriguez | 1. | Garmin | 2. | Phillipe Gilbert | 2. | Leopard | 3. | Damiano Cunego | 3. | Lampre | 4. | Fabian Cancellara | 4. | Katusha | 5. | Samuel Sánchez | 5. | Omega Pharma |
It was an amazing year for the international cycling scene and actually 2 records were beaten and 1 exploit were achieved.
1 | Ronde Van Vlanderen - 3 victories | Tom Boonen | 2 | World Championship ITT - 4 victories | Fabian Cancellara | 3 | Ardennes Triple | Phillipe Gilbert |
A massive majority decided Phillipe Gilbert as the star of the year, because of his great results and especially his Ardennes Triple exploit.
It wasn't a very dramatic transfer period although some transfers were bigger than other. In our own team we agreed to not renew contracts with the to riders:
Jesper Hansen
Søren Pugdahl Pedersen
The team's 2012 signings i'll wait to present till next time.
But here's a list of the greatest transfers which got through the transfer season in 2011.
A. Valverde | - | -> | Movistar | T. Boonen | Quickstep | -> | SKY | M. Breschel | Rabobank | -> | Garmin | B. Wiggins | SKY | -> | Astana | J. Brajkovic | Radioshack | -> | Katusha | T. Van Garderen | HTC | -> | Leopard | L. L. Sanchez | Rabobank | -> | Katusha | G. Thomas | SKY | -> | Saxo Bank |
Stay updated for the next press report.
For now thanks for listening.

Thanks! Indeed the team had some great results judged by the low average of the team. Yeah, it's always nice to have good results in Denmark for our Danish sponsors and the riders

The second year in the Continental Tour went high above all expectations.
As mentioned before we agreed a contract with TDC as Co-sponsor. This new sponsorship gave us the opportunity to get some new and bigger names for our team, and we didn't waste this possibility.
Let me introduce you to the new signings we picked up.
| Mauro Finetto | | -> | Liquigas | | Adriano Malori | | -> | Lampre | | Luca Latini | | -> | - | | Thomas Riber Sellebjerg | | -> | - | | Peter Kennaugh | | -> | Sky | | Matt Cronshaw | | -> | - | | Serge Pauwels | | -> | Sky | | David Tanner | | -> | Saxo Bank |
Only one danish rider were bought this year due to our international plans.
For us, these were some major signings and the beggining of a totally new shape of the new Team EnergiFyn - TDC.
With the new team we were heading higher than last years 10th place in the team rankings, but what happened were above all expectations...
Here's the complete roster of 2012
Along with new and better riders we achieved lots of great results.
Here are the most important victories.
Danish RR Championship | Niki Østergaard | Italian TT Championship | Adriano Malori | Österreich - Rundfahrt (general) | Peter Kennaugh | Bayern Rundfahrt (general) | Adriano Malori | Himmerland Rundt | Mauro Finetto | Rund um Köln | Rasmus Sterebo | Gp di Lugano | Niki Østergaard | Grand prix la Marseillaise | Mauro Finetto | Tour du Haut Var (general) | Niki Østergaard |
You can propably imagine how it went in the Official Continental Tour rankings judged by the great results above. We had a fantastic year and that's reflected in the rankings.
In the individual rankings we got 3 riders in top 5 at the end of the year!
And in the Team rankings we won with a small margin of 200 points to FDJ!
| Individual | | | Team | 1. | Daryl Impey | | 1. | EnergiFyn - TDC | 2. | Daniele Callagarin | | 2. | FDJ | 3. | Mauro Finetto | | 3. | NetApp | 4. | Niki Østergaard | | 4. | Type 1 | 5. | Adriano Malori | | 5. | Landbouwkrediet |
2012 was a year which also was very exiting as the year before.
Here's a brief resume.
The Tour de France 2012 was dominated completely by Alberto Contador and Andy Schleck. In 2011 Contador was really unlucky to miss 8 minutes on one of the midway stages, so he was looking for revenge.
In top form Contador started out and had a great first week. It quickly became clear that last year's winner Andy Schleck was the only one who could follow Contador. But his victory wasn't in danger at any time in the race and therefore he won very well deserved. Also a very well deserved 2nd place went to Andy Schleck and Cadel Evans finished the podium with a strong ride with a 3rd place.
I also have to mention that Mark Cavendish won not less than 8 stages! By that effort he wrote himself into the record books.
A very untraditional Vuelta a España was as usual the last Grand Tour on the calender in 2012. Along with the untraditional route which didn't include a lot of mountains but rather hill or puncher terrain, was the results of the race. A very weak startlist without any great stars resulted in a quite changeable Vuelta. In the last week Rein Taaramäe was looking more and more as a winner with José Rujano in 2nd spot. But a long breakaway including the former Tour de France winner Carlos Sastre, got 6 minutes on the rest of the favourites which sent Sastre up to 2nd place by dropping Rujano down to 3rd. But at the last time trial Luis Leon Sánchez was way too fast for the columbian and ended up taking the last podium spot.
A great win for the young Estonian and also very nice to see Carlos Sastre back in topform (but probably the last time )
Compared with the Vuelta, the Giro d' Italia had a very strong startlist with lots of stars. Cadel Evans which almost sure would have won last years Giro came back to get his revenge. And he didn't disapoint his fans. He rode constantly and secure through the whole Giro and really showed his great skills by winning the last time trial. Cunego also had a great Giro with 3 victories and by taking the 2nd spot. But for me the light in this Giro was Nicolas Roche. He rode magnificent as we havn't seen before. He was very aggresive but still constant, he almost participated in every breakaway and beat Nibali in the fight of the last step on the podium. Lots of respect from here and maybe a option for a future signing.
The classics
UCI Pro Tour rankings
| Individual | | | Team | 1. | Phillipe Gilbert | | 1. | Omega Pharma | 2. | Cadel Evans | | 2. | Leopard | 3. | Alberto Contador | | 3. | Katusha | 4. | Damiano Cunego | | 4. | Garmin | 5. | Fabian Cancellara | | 5. | Lampre |
Again this year was amazing for the international cycling scene and again 2 records were beaten.
1 | Giro di Lombardia - 5 victories | Damiano Cunego | 2 | Tour de France - 8 stage victories | Mark Cavendish |
Again it didn't came as a big surprise that Phillipe Gilbert for yet another year was voted as the star of the year. The fast Belgian won lots of fantastic races, but the most prestigious has to be the World Championship. Congratulations to Phillipe Gilbert.
This year many big transfers were made through the transfer period. In our own team we agreed to not renew contracts with the following three riders:
Christian Jersild Jensen
Matt Cronshaw
Morten Øllegaard
The team's 2013 signings i'll wait to present till next time.
But here's a list of the greatest transfers which got through the transfer season in 2012.
S. Sánchez | Euskatel | -> | Quick-Step | J. Van Summeren | Garmin | -> | Saxo Bank | Fabian Cancellara | Leopard | -> | Saxo Bank | E.Boasson Hagen | SKY | -> | Saxo Bank | T. Löfkvist | Sky | -> | Radioshack | L. Leipheimer | Radioshack | -> | AG2R | I. Antón | Euskatel | -> | BMC | T. Farrar | Garmin | -> | SKY |
Stay updated for the next press report.
For now thanks for listening.

So are you in WorldTour now? Or were other teams better in the CQ Ranking? I hope I didn't overread that, but I can't find it anywhere. Apart from that, I agree with the others that it look nice so far.
Euskaltel will have a tough time without their two top stars... Bit of a pity imo.

Sorry for not including. But no, i am not going to be in the Pro Tour next year.
I don't want to be in the Pro Tour yet, so i have edited in the divisions.
In 2011 I didn't made any changes in the divisions, so there wasn't any who moved up or down. But this season Euskatel and Vacansoleil totally screwed up and ended far back in the Pro Tour and the CQ ranking. So I moved them down to Continental Tour and moved Cofidis and FDJ up to Pro Tour.
Apart from that, Thanks
