No, but I do know that September is the month of a certain World Championship that's taking place in Denmark |

Both the elite TT and RR, yes. Not so sure about the other events, though. |

About the possible Leo-Shack merger, Gerard Vroomen raises an interesting point:
RadioShack only has 13 riders under contract for 2012...
Possible reasons:
1. You have an enormous problem with your rider group. While there are certainly things to point to (Armstrong investigation, the average age, etc), I don’t see anything that would require replacing half the riders on that team. And if this were the case, you’d be hiring like crazy right now.
2. You don’t have sufficient sponsorship funds for next year to make new commitments.
3. You’re planning a merger and combined you have too many riders.
4. You’re a mad genius and have a plan so brilliant nobody understands it.

5. They have so much faith in all the guys from Trek-Livestrong that they all get a contract. It makes sense cause they would get a lot younger!

Actually I think a harder parcours like the one last year suits him more as he is not as fast as Cavendish, Farrar or Greipel in the end on very flat stages. Therefore he is one of the fastest after some hills, that are too hard for the pure sprinters.
But the Worlds are different and there you never know.
Nevertheless a season to forget for him. Hope he finds his form soon again to attack in the cobbled classics next year. |

Yeah, maybe he wasn't favourite on the route, but worlds in Denmark would have given him a super boost. Maybe enough to outsprint the fastest guys on the flat But remember the finish is an uphill sprint, so i think we'll see surprises

+ it is a longer race then the normal flat sprints, so a whole different game anyway.

It's probably not a news, but it's kind of funny; Andy Schleck can't ride in Québec or Montréal due to a wisdom tooth ache.
I must admit I laughed a bit when I read it:
Andy Schleck, who placed second at the 2011 Tour de France, had to withdraw from the Québec City and Montréal Grands Prix Cyclsites for medical reasons, his team (Leopard-Trek) announced today.
The rider from Luxembourg has been suffering from a wisdom tooth ache for over a week and he has no other option but to undergo an operation immediately. “An infection of the root of the tooth during the Tour of Colorado caused complications that demanded a minor but critical surgery,” says the Leopard-Trek press release. “I regret pulling out of these two races as I adore racing in North America and I was very excited about the idea of being in these two Canadian events,” says the rider who will not be replaced.
“It’s disappointing but we understand his decision. We wish Andy to be healthy, as we hope to see him on our circuits next year,” said Serge Arsenault, President of the GPCQM. |

We'll never see Schelck riding again until TDF 2012 (perhaps Liége), he won't have the chance to win some races... |

Apparently, Leopard Trek will be folding at the end of the season. The owner wanted to find a real Head Sponsor by the end of the season (I guess 2nd and 3rd in the TDF weren't good enough), but couldn't so he's pulling the plug. I dont quite know if this is reliable (yet), but it might be big news, or might just mean the merge with Radioshack is even more possible now, so I thought I'd share it so I can say I said it first

Leopard, it's over
Leopard-Trek will disappear at the end of the season. According to L'Equipe, eleven runners under contract are encouraged to seek training. The Schleck brothers should be the leaders of RadioShack.
If the leaders of RadioShack and Leopard continue to deny the event of a merger between the two teams in 2012, training in Luxembourg is about to disappear very late in the season. L'Equipe revealed on Monday that Flavio Becca, the businessman who has invested personally in the budget for Leopard, is expected to announce the end of September the dissolution of the sporting society. The leaders have already warned eleven runners under contract they should find a new team for next season, including the French Brice Feillu and Fabian Wegmann. The manager Brian Nygaard has also arranged a way out as it should be responsible for communication GreenEdge.
RadioShack side, Johan Bruyneel also beginning to reshape its workforce to accommodate the main body of Leopard, beginning with Andy and Frank Schleck who should become its future leaders. If Levi Leipheimer has already committed to the next team Omega Pharma - Quick Step, other riders RadioShack will have to prepare their resume. According to L'Equipe, Portugal's Sergio Paulinho and French Geoffroy Lequatre will not be part of the forthcoming''dream team''of the pack. |
