Hi all,
Can anyone please let me know if the PCM2011 Stage Editor is the same as the PCM2010 version, and what the NEW additions to the editor are.
thank you in advance

I think they are the same editors with probably few tweaks.
- 2 new landscapes : Australia (arid countryside) and desert (Tour of Qatar, Tour of Oman)
- New landscape elements : farms, tractors, cars, boats, roundabouts, manor houses, petrol stations, electricity pylons, etc..
That was announced couple of weeks ago, there might be more things in it but you will have to wait till Friday to check them out. |

Already written in 'new landscape elements' quoted by Alakagom
I'm curious about .dem files.. hopefully there'll be more? Or they would probably have announced it?

Thank you for the replies folks, while i was glad to see the end of the 35%+ ramp sections going into a 0.5% section gone when PCM2010 came out there still this type problem but not as bad in the current editor. While you can adjust and limit these problems in the profile it does take time, the .dem files are ok but are not as accurate as they need to be to create actual realistic profiles for actual realistic racing.
I would like to see the option to build the profile with XML like we used for earlier versions of PCM and then use a adjustable .dem file underlay for surrounding terrain.
While i enjoy seeing pretty terrains and structural surroundings i would prefer having the profile route sorted first.
Just my thoughts.

VERY IMPORTANT :
Eyolfur told me that if PCM10 stages are compatible, we (stagemakers) all need to RE-EXPORT the zcts files in the new editor to make the files playable with PCM11.

Someone who has the expansion-file, so you can make stages in Malaysia?

I already feared that.
This will be lots of work for us stage makers. I have made more than 70 stages yet and the editor needs lots of time to load the stages. Plus uploading all of them again. I see some hours of doing this in the next days.
But thanks for the official info. |

Ive heard that PCM10 stages do seem to work fine, but to get new features of the PCM11 Stage Editor, you have to re-export. Dont have the game yet though, so cant confirm this.

It's exactly like SN said: the PCM10 stages do work in PCM11! And you don't have to re-export the stage-fils with the new editor! I've just tested it. You only have to re-export, if you want to have the new graphics (like animated buildings or the new spectators). So.. it's confirmed

That`s better news.
I might do the re-export from time to time nevertheless.
But especially the stages of stage makers, that aren`t that active any longer, couldn`t be played the other way. So good to know that everything works fine. |

That's great news, since I don't have the .zcts files left on most of my stages.

It`s better to save them. There could be any kind of problems on your stage that you haven`t noticed.
Also you could rebuild them very easy if they are a little bit different in the next year.
Amstel Gold Race 2011 for example was a very tiny bit different to the 2010 version due to road working I think. so I just load my 2010 AGR and rebuild the route.
Wouldn`t be possible that easy without these files. |

Apparently (I don't have the game yet, so don't kill the messenger ), it's not just the grafics that are affected if you don't re-export the stage.

Les étapes de PCM10 marchent, mais il peut y avoir de gros problèmes au niveau du gameplay si elles n'ont pas été réexportées avec le nouvel éditeur. Le comportement de l'IA peut etre affecté par une étape non exportée.
So the IA is affected too, allegedly causing "serious gameplay problems" if the stage isn't re-exported. |

Ok, I will give this some testing I only played a short flat stage without problems and though I don't understand this French, it may need some testing from other members, too..
btw: I really don't like the roundabouts They look simple and awful imo..

Freire gave me the reason :
A new feature in pcm11 stages is information about "risky areas" (I suppose : narrow roads, hills, cobbles, ... ?). Without these informations, AI won't help the leaders come back on front of the race and so the results could be bad.
On another part, he told me that other parameters (?) only given in new editor could give strange results in stage races if using pcm10 stages

I tried to compare the StageData of PCM10- and PCM11-stages to see any difference in case of these "risky" areas. And I don't see a big difference.. seems like PCM11 'finds' the risky areas in 10-stages, too. What do you think?:
Here's a stage made for PCM10:

The smoothy risk looks a bit different at least.
Also the graphics are different. So I convert all my stages from time to time. Just to be sure.

The smoothy risk looks different, yes. But that's because it's different profiles Anyway, you may be right and we should go the less risky way and convert the most important races But I will continue testing..
