Game info:

Team: Colombia es Pasión - Café de Colombia
Patch: 1.0.4.1
Database: PCM Daily's 2011 DB
Evolution of attributes: 0.5
Difficulty: Extreme

Team presentation:

Leaders:

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/ACanoArdila.jpg
Our best climber, who will be our leader in the stage races. He is 27 years old, which means that he is at his best now. His targets will be some stage races. Alex has the ability to keep up with the best in the mountains, but his weak TT skills is his problem. I hope that he can perform enough in the road stages to not need to worry about the TT:s.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/JPForero.jpg
Juan is the best sprinter in the team, which means that he will be our man for the mass sprints. He lacks a bit of sprinting ability to the best, but he is a strong climber, so I hope that he will be able to deliver good results on some hilly stages too, aswell as on the flat ones.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/VHPena.jpg
The team's old man. However, at 36 years, he is still capable of producing good results. Probably our best allrounder, as he is also a strong TT rider. That is good, as we lack a bit of that in the team. His career is going towards an end, but I think he will be able to deliver good results in at least one more season.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/NQuintana.jpg
Nairo is already at only 21 years, a really good climber. He has the potential to become a future Grand Tour winner. I am really happy to have him here in the team, as he will probably be able to deliver some great results. Just like Alex, he is a weak TT:er, so he will have to deliver good results on the road stages.

Last but not least...

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TNishitani.jpg
As I said to valverde in the other thread, a Japanese is a must in every team. This team didn't have any Japanese, so I signed Taiji, as he was looking for a team. Another strong sprinter, who will be able to leadout Forero, but also take his own chances in some races. I hope for at least one Japanese win this season.

Full team:

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TeamStats.jpg
The team consists of only Colombian riders, plus our Japanese friend. Laverde, Chalapud, Ospina, Pantano and Atapuma are all strong helpers in harder terrain, while the others will do great as domestiques. I'm sure we will be able to get some good results this season.

Did you add Taiji to the db? If so could you upload this db? Looks nice.

Nice team, also try to keep it Colombian/South American. No frenchies.

tsmoha
Nice choice!

FreitasPCM

EDIT: Win Bayern Rundfhart is going to be very very hard... Pfft

Great! A southamerican team!!!
Good luck!!!

Are the goals to hard for the team? Which races in America you will enter? Vuelta a Tachira, Tour de San Luis, Tour de California.

I think that would be nicer goals for your team at the start, but great to have a story of a team from my continent.

Munique
Great choice - probably a lot more challenging than Leopard Trek Smile. Looking forward to follow the story. Guess you are riding the continental tour? If so, any hopes as regards the rankings?

How will your recruiting strategy be? Will you keep it realistic in terms of nationality?

Pellizotti2
@valverde: I haven't added him, he was in the DB. I can upload it if you want, but aren't you already using it? I will of course stay with only Colombians.

@tsmoha: Thank you!

@ricotero: Thanks. Tachira isn't included in the DB, as far as I know, but Tour de San Luis will be our first race of the season. I think the report from the first stage is coming up tomorrow.

@Munique: Yes, definitely more challenging. More challenging and more fun. I don't have any expectations on a high place in the CT, we will only try to have a good season to be able to sign some new riders next season. Then we might start thinking about promotion.

@MrDemus: Only Colombians. That makes it more of a challenge.

Our first race will be Tour de San Luis. Report from stage 1 there will be coming up tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Im from Colombia, so, be sure that i will follow you.

i dont like that japanese rider and i hope that you will sign suramerican riders only, but obviously, is your choice.

Go for the victory!!!!

Pellizotti2
@lluuiiggii: Thanks! Smile

@olabj: I haven't decided yet, but that would certainly be very nice. We will be asking for Wild Cards in Volta a Catalunya and Pais Vasco, though.

@canojuancho: Nice to hear. Taiji will be the only non-Colombian I will sign. Like I said earlier, only Colombians (plus Taiji).

Nice team choice. Ardila can do strange things as I realized in my story. Wink Also Forero is promising.

Good luck with this one.

lluuiiggii
Btw, Forero 76? Does he deserve that irl?

Pellizotti2
@roturn: Thanks. I hope that he can do that here too.

@lluuiiggii: He is actually 75. Wink I think so, as he has got some good results in mass sprints with good sprinters participating. Also, I want to have at least a small chance in the mass sprints.

Here is our first race of the season:

pcmdaily.com/images/flags/AR.png 17.01.2011 - 23.01.2011: Tour de San Luis

4.bp.blogspot.com/_HL58wo2Jtf4/TSl8nlav_YI/AAAAAAAAEmQ/LysTikSBHQw/s1600/TourSanLuis_logo.jpg

Isn't it perfect to start the season with a race in our home continent? This is the fifth edition of Tour de San Luis, and it has already started attracting interest from many european teams who wants to send riders here.

The race has seven stages, with one of them being a time-trial. However, this race is far from easy. Stage 2, 5 and 6 are all very hard stages, with stage 6 possibly being the hardest one. The winner of this race will have to be a strong climber, to survive the hard climbs here. We will certainly see some action in Argentina this week.

Stage 1: San Luis - Justo Daract: 166.0km
i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL1.jpg

Stage 2: Juana Koslay - El Mirador del Potrero: 168.5km
i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL2.jpg

Stage 3: Buena Esperanza - Villa Mercedes: 163.0km
i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL3.jpg

Stage 4: San Luis: 18.5km (ITT)
i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL4.jpg

Stage 5: Etapa la Toma - Merlo (Mirador del Sol)
i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL5.jpg

Stage 6: La Huertita - La Carolina: 192.0km
i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL6.jpg

Stage 7: San Luis - El Trapiche: 181.9km
i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL7.jpg

Colombia es Pasión - Café de Colombia:
pcmdaily.com/images/flags/CO.png Nairo Quintana
pcmdaily.com/images/flags/CO.png Robinson Chalapud
pcmdaily.com/images/flags/CO.png Johan Chaves
pcmdaily.com/images/flags/CO.png Luis Felipe Laverde
pcmdaily.com/images/flags/CO.png John Martinez
pcmdaily.com/images/flags/JP.png Taiji Nishitani
pcmdaily.com/images/flags/CO.png Jarlinson Pantano
pcmdaily.com/images/flags/CO.png Juan Villegas

Quintana is supposed to be our leader here, but if he doesn't feel good then we have Laverde, Chalapud and Pantano, who all could be the leader instead. Nishitani will be our man for the sprints, but he will unfortunately not have any leadout man, as we do only have two sprinters in the team and I decided to leave Forero home in Colombia. Chaves, Martinez and Villegas are here as domestiques and will just help our stronger riders. However, one of them might try to go with a breakaway to try and get the win out of it.

pcmdaily.com/images/flags/CO.png Rigoberto Urán Sky ProCycling

Urán is the best hilly rider in the race, so I will name him as the favourite here. He is also a good TT rider, which will be useful for him, as he can get an advantage in the harder stages from the TT. Also, as he is Colombian, he might be one of our transfer targets for next season. Urán will certainly be a man to watch here in Argentina.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Star.png i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Star.png

pcmdaily.com/images/flags/IT.png Paolo Tiralongo Pro Team Astana

The second best puncheur in this race. However, he is more of a climber than a puncheur, so this race would have suited him better if it included a mountain stage. Tiralongo will still be a man to watch, though, as he is a very good rider. His weakness is that he will probably lose a bunch of time in the TT.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Star.png

pcmdaily.com/images/flags/HR.png Robert Kiserlovski Pro Team Astana

Astana has a strong lineup here with both Tiralongo and Kiserlovski as possible leaders. Kiserlovski is an even better climber than Tiralongo, but a weaker puncheur, so we'll see who of them will be the leader of Astana. I don't think Kiserlovski will be able to win this race, but a podium should be achievable for the Croatian super talent.

pcmdaily.com/images/flags/AR.png 17.01.2011: Tour de San Luis

Stage 1: San Luis - Justo Daract: 166.0km
i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL1.jpg

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL1-1.jpg
Only one man broke away early, so no breakaway today. However, he was unlucky, as the whole "climb" was a straight road so the pack had him in eyesight even as he was over three minutes ahead.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL1-2.jpg
We didn't have any good flat riders or any leadout man, so Quintana (best allround rider) acted as a flat rider and Pantano (second best sprint and acceleration) acted as a leadout man for our Japanese friend Nishitani, who had a great day (+5).

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL1-3.jpg
Quintana did what he could, but Pantano had to start his leadout from a mediocre position. Skil-Shimano was at the front with Kluge leading out Veelers.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL1-4.jpg
With just over a kilometer to go, Nishitani cleverly changed to Veelers' wheel. The Dutchman was the one going fastest at the moment, so Nishitani got a good leadout from him.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL1-5.jpg
Seven hundred meters from the line, Nishitani launched out of Veelers' slipstream and blasted towards the line. This could be a fantastic start for us, but Caja Rural's Galdós was also going well just behind Veelers and Nishitani.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL1-6.jpg
Galdós lost some speed in the end and couldn't stop Nishitani from winning the stage and give us a great start of the season. Veelers held on for the second place ahead of Galdós. There was even two Japaneses in the top 5 today, with Arashiro finishing 5th.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/Colombia%20es%20Pasion/TdSL1-7.jpg
After the finish I realised that the pack had splitted. Pre-race favourites Rigoberto Urán (Sky) and Robert Kiserlovski (Astana) finished in the second group 1'26 behind Nishitani.
