@sutty: Missed the move in Rutland, and wasted too much energy in the chase. Looks like Zoidl could be a good rival to Martijn after Tour of Reservoir and Sochi Smile

The Sweetest Feeling
i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0010_zpsf472131b.jpg

I can't believe the hype I am creating with my recent results. I even had some saying that I am a future great in the sport. That is something that I can only dream of, if I was completely honest.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0005_zps9c63e56a.jpg

The Lincoln GP is first of my target races for the season. The profile of the race really suits me as a rider, and the short cobbled climb of Michaelgate should be where the race is going to be won or lost. The Yates Brothers are also present at the race, meaning we have a lot of options and strength in depth.

Race Report
Like with the Tour of the Reservoir, we decided to send a man into the break, with Adam Yates attacking from the flag drop. He had just recently come off the back of a 2nd Overall at the Tour of Azerbaijan, so was in some great form. The break's lead peaked at around 5 minutes before the Peleton started to bring it back

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0008_zps5050cee1.jpg

With 5 laps to go, I made a bold move, telling Simon Yates to go hard on the front and not look back. I followed his wheel, and on the climb of Michaelgate, we opened a gap on the peleton. Strangely there was no reaction behind, and the gap grew and grew.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0009_zpsb1464a09.jpg

Reaching the breakaway group, Simon's job was done. Adam now took over, and he hit the front of the group. The other race favourites were still in the peleton over 3 minutes behind, and it didn't look like the gap was closing.

Two laps to go, I made my move. Adam had done his work, and the break was not as strong as it was when I joined it. Michaelgate was the place I hit the front, and it was the last time I saw my fellow escapees.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0011_zps7624810a.jpg

From the moment I left the lead group, I was on my own, soloing to finishing. The feeling was incredible as I started the final lap. I had the DS shouting from the team car, keeping me going to the finish. The favourites were attacking behind, but I was still over 3 minutes in front. The feeling crossing the line was even better than I imagined. I was delighted. I had my first Professional win. With any hope, the first of many.

The Lincoln Grand Prix is always a tough race to take part in, so to Win it is just awesome Grin

@all: Thanks so much for comments! Martijn finally has his first win Grin

@admir: It was a dominate performance

@tpinot: The aim was to peak for May and it is paying off Smile

@mvh & martial: Great teamwork all around and the Yates Brothers sacrificed themselves for Martijn. Martijn will repay the favour later in the season.

@Peter: Another rumour about Martijn's destination for next season. Will he end up in the WT?

@javi: It was a good strong performance from Martijn

@sutty: Lincoln GP is one of my favourite races in the domestic calendar, so glad that Martijn could do a great performance to do the justice Smile

Sutty86 has gladly agreed to perform the interview with Martijn. He is currently thinking up questions, but maybe if there is anything you want to ask, just let me know and I can pass them onto sutty Smile

Riding on Cloud Nine
i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0006_zps0ff5d786.jpg

You wouldn't believe the feeling after taking your First Professional win. As an amateur, it was amazing. As a Professional, I am lost for words and all out of superlatives to describe it.

The only thing better than the win was the reaction from my fans. I received so many great comments of congratulations, and I felt so humbled. The rumours of my destination for next season has been brought up again. MTN, Team Sky and WorldTour racing has all been mentioned, but honestly, there has been nothing discussed with any team as of yet. I just want to concentrate on the here and now.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0001_zps0ea15b1c.jpg

The Durham Round of the Tour Series is very similar in style to the Lincoln GP, so instantly I am thrown into the 'Favourites' ring. The Cobbled climb of South Street is very similar to Michaelgate, although the cobbled descent over the other side will add an extra dimension. At 52km, the action will be hard and fast.

Race Report
A large group of 8 riders hit off at the beginning of the stage, quickly forming the day's breakaway. The short stage meant that it couldn't be allowed too much of gap, and I made sure the GB Team keep the group within reach.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0002_zpsa8f2ef39.jpg

Reaching the halfway point, the break's lead was around 1'30", and hoping for the same as in Lincoln, I made a bold move to hit the front. At first, I looked to be a waste of energy, but as we came off the Cobbled Climb of South Street, I had a small gap that was grewing bit by bit.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0005_zps7975f4a2.jpg

With 3 laps to go, I bridged to what remained of the day's break, and I had just over 1 minute on the Favourites who began attacking off the front of the peleton. Knowing what going on behind, I kept the pressure on, quickly dropping the riders in the lead group.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0007_zps30e15af9.jpg

Like with Lincoln GP, it was just a case of making sure I stayed upright and avoiding any mechanical problems. With 1 lap to go, McNally (AnPost) got to within 22", but as we peaked the top of South Street, he was done. Taking the last section of cobbles, I knew I wouldn't be caught, and I could finally enjoy the moment. My god, that winning feeling is so addictive!

Freakin' hell, that guy is going to become a beast in future. He has a great acceleration, he's good on hills and he's one great cobbler!

Great reporting & some great screenshots. Also, liking the look of first few posts, Phil. Smile
