YES!!!!!! You made it!! it was because of a crash but... it's fantastic anyway. Let's see if you can win your first stage in other race.
Because of my english, i'm gonna write the replies both in english and in spanish (for south-american and spanish people)

SIII!! Lo conseguiste!! Fue por culpa de una caida pero... es fantástico de todas formas. Veremos si puedes ganar tu primera etapa en alguna otra carrera.

@javi: Who crashed? I never said that Zoidl crashed Wink I said he had cracked on the descent

Also, nice idea with the English and Spanish comments, but this is an English speaking forum, and this is an English story

Great overall victory for Martijn, too bad he couldn't get a stage win. Smile

I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed he does not join Sky. Wink

@mvh: I was happy with the consistency in the race. Stage win would have been nice by a 2nd place and two 3rd places is still good. There are quite a few rumours of possible teams next season. Nothing is being said at the moment

Just thought I would mention that I might use some comments on the story in my posts / blogs by Martijn. You might have noticed that with my last post about being named as a favourite for GC podium. Javi made a comment about it so I thought I would use it Smile

Just a heads up in case you start seeing what is mentioned on the story appearing in the story Wink

Martijn Needs You
i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/Untitled_zps5cb29996.png

During the short-lived Rapha-Rouleur ProCycling story, Fernando97 perform an exclusive interview with Team Manager Phil Hoyle, asking questions live via PM before the whole thing was posted on the story.

Due to the popularity of the interview, I have decide to do something similar, and give one of my followers the chance to hold an exclusive Question & Answer Session with me, Martijn North.

If you are interested, please send me a PM and we can discuss the feature in more detail

Racing on 'Home' Soil
i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0002_zps5f5e3e82.jpg

I'm sure you are meant to feel more excited than this when racing on home soil. This is my first British race as a British rider, but I just feel like I would at any other race. My heart is well and truly South African.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0004_zpsc9bf2f7d.jpg

The Rutland-Melton Classic is where I make my first appearance on the British roads as a Professional, and it is a course that will not really suit my strengths. I can turn a good gear when it comes to cobbles, but nothing that will set the world alight. Nevertheless, I lead the team in the race, and hope I can pull off some sort of good result in the finish.

Race Report
The day started quietly enough, with a group of 7 riders attacking from the drop of the flag and instantly making the day's break.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0001_zps8c40750c.jpg

Having watched Paris-Roubaix and Ronde van Vlaanderen during my youth, I knew one tactic for this race. Hit the front on the cobbles, and you stay out of trouble. So that is what I did! My pace was high, but clearly it was nothing to trouble the better teams and riders.

Sadly, whilst I was alert to danger over the cobbles, I relaxed too much when riding on the tarmac. Call it inexperience, call it cockiness after my win in Sochi. Either way, I was too busy enjoying my '15 minutes of fame' when the winning move happened.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0003_zpsb5c9b5e0.jpg

Fred Rodriguez (Jelly Belly) was the first to attack, taking Luke Grivell-Mellor (Rapha Condor-JLT) with him. Behind a group of 9 formed behind, and I was formed to attack hard to try and make sure I was part of it. Stupidly, when I made the bridge, I did all the work, but to no affect. Rodriguez was clear, and Grivell-Mellor was somewhere in the middle.

In the end, I had done too much. I stopped riding, the whole group slowed, and with that, the win was completely lost. My hard work in a pointless chase resulted in a nothing sprint, as I came home last in the chase group. On paper, 12th place is good result for me, but my inexperience cost me a better result.

Not a bad result for Martijn, although I think the experience is more important than the results at this point. Smile

He shouldn't feel bad about losing to Fast Freddy. Fred has a little extra "help". Wink

@mvh: I know he is only 19 and he is young, so yes it is all about the experience. I will only make Martijn stronger

Building Form, Getting Better
i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0001_zps0a12cf79.jpg

With Lincoln GP being one of my big targets, I went to the Tour of the Reservoir wanting to build form, put in a good showing and add to my experience as a young rider.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0006_zps258ab7bd.jpg

Classed as flat by the Race's Organiser, I would say that could favour a wide range of riders. A break is likely to go early, and could go all the way if it wanted. The climb to the finish could favour a puncheur type sprinter, whilst a late attack could also make it to the end. This will be an interesting race to watch.

Race Report
As expected a group of 5 attacked at the start of the stage, but it would take a long time before it broke the hold of the peleton. King was present, and if it came to the situation later in the race, he could be a good ally to have up the road .

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0002_zpsccc88857.jpg

The high pace of the race meant that the break was caught a long way from the finish, and with 3 laps remaining, the winning move was made by the Pre-Race Favourites. Lee Davis (Node4) made the first move followed by Mariusz Witecki (Bank BGZ), whilst Zoidl (Gourmetfein) watched my counter like a hawk.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0003_zps0779731b.jpg

Davis soon paid for his hard attack, and approaching the finish it was battle between Zoidl and I, with Witecki fading behind. Wheel sucking the Austrian, I waited as long as I could before opening up the sprint.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Martijn%20North/PCM0004_zps7d2d7949.jpg

Zoidl takes his revenge on Sochi! Both of us looked very evenly matched in the sprint, and I just couldn't come around him. But I am still delighted with my podium spot. I am feeling good, getting stronger and really wanting to show my talent in Lincoln
