It`s the first stage race in the Mini Man Game and also the first fight of the top climbers as we have a huge climb on the 4th stage.
But it`s not the first difficulty in that race. Already on the first day all GC riders must be concentrated as it`s going up and down a few times in the 2nd half. Here you mustn`t lose time or you might already lose all your chances.
And while the remaining 3 stages are possible sprint stages they all have some difficulties, that might lead to a different outcome. In especially the 3rd with two late bumps and the last stage, which is rarely really flat, could be too hard for the sprinters.
Coming to favourites we surely look for the climbers as the 4th stage is probably showing the biggest time gaps. So it`s not really surprising to see most top climbers.
Two of the strongest mountain teams are Coldeportes with the duo Orizco, Rubiano Chavez and lots of their elite helpers like Calderón, Montiel or Montoya and KazMunayGas, who will most likely go for Saeidi Tanha or Dyadichkin.
Other riders with good chances are the Portuguese Sabido (Millenium), Casar (Peugeot), Schoffmann (Miche), Nose (Node4), Rodrigues (Dexia), Bitew Shiferaw (Standard Bank) MAte (iBanesto) or Chu (Fuji).
But this is actually just the top of a long list, that could be continued for quite some time. Several other climbers have good chances and will most probably prove me wrong, that I haven`t mentioned them.
Sprinterwise we have a great field as well. I definitely have to start with Miche as it is the best sprinter team here by far. With Sabatini, Borghesi and Rigotto they have all their best sprinters here and should have a strong train.
Behind them we have lots of similar strong sprinters, who should be named here in the fight for a stage win:
Clavero (Kalev), Gomez Colinas (Eroski), Hawkins (Node4), D'Amore (Electrabel), Korkotyan (America), Poulhies (SFR), Markov (Katusha), Brown (Commonwealth) and many many morel.
Except for 2-3 teams that might be ahead of the others when coming to climbing or sprint strength here, we have a very good startlist with lots of similar strong teams, which should give us some interesting racing and most likely also some surprisings.

Nice preview.
Really looking forward to seeing how Rodriguez can do compared to the other climbers. Especially since he won't have a lot of help...
Hopefully some of the best sprinters will be lost on the hillls the other days so de Ketele can mix in. I expect it will be a very close race though. Perhaps with a breakaway win affecting the GC as well...

Looking for some breakaway chances with SFR and perhaps a decent shot in the sprints with Pouhies who took 4th earlier in Brazil.

Our goal will be top 10 in the GC with Sabido. If he's on good form and things work out top 5 could even possible.
Other than that it would be nice to see our sprinters at least trying to sprint |

I hope so too.
Bernucci is locked away, far away from the racing, so we should be good.
