This one-day race in Catalonia's capital is the next in a recent flurry of flat classics. However in difference to the two earlier, today is about the C2 teams.
Kankovsky headlines the list of starters, representing the sprint-focused Credexbank team also bringing Simon Clarke as leadout. Looking to challenge him in case of an all-out mass sprint is most notably Santos.
Next to them, there's also the likes of Rizza, Abakoumov, , Belletti, Anton Martin and Schinker - just to name a few of many quick sprinters present for the race.
Vattenfall and Lukoil have brought a number of options as well, but without a standout name, they'll need to upset the odds in order to win. Same goes for ANC-Halfords, who'll have to relay on the mighty Danny Pate in order to score much from this race.
However, there's also a chance of someone spoiling the party for the sprinters. 9 times up the Montjuic, albeit the easy side, could do some damage to many pairs of legs. Among those potentially interested in trying an attack are home favourites Rodriguez Oliver and Grau, along with Barrio.

Not like our chances considering the control team is placed higher then us. Don't think Barrio will do anything, so I guess I can just hope to get in the breakaway and let the home crowd cheer us on.

Our home race!
It's a pitty that the route goes to the smooth part of the climb. Hope a good result form Lequatre or even Grau if the race goes crazy.
Note to stage makers: Next year switch the direction of the spin

Let's hope Purito attacks over 'his' Montjuich. We have Anton Martin for the sprint aswell so a top 5 should be possible

This was a great race to watch and write about last season. Then a breakaway won it, though, I suspect the bad weather played an important part.
Hopefully we'll see a good race this time too, with a couple of attacks by the strong puncheurs on Montjuic. Must admit I've no clue about who is going to take the win. I'll go with an outsider like Demare, if he doesn't need to work for Belletti.

Hoping for at least a top 3, but were missing Papok after his success in Romania, the slight hills may kill our chances though!

We do well in these hilly sprints and I don't see why this one should be any different. Belletti could certainly podium and Demare could get a good result as well. Speirs... I never know about he could be brilliant or finish 81st, who knows. One thing for certain we won't be setting up a sprint train....
I worry about a breakaway here due to the small number of teams that will be committed to chasing it down.

Damn, that was a huge chance for Bongiorno to even win a race
And well, nothing to say about the AI really...

Yeah, would have been an amazing result for him! Still nice to see him in the break.
Too bad Rodriguez didn't attack. Everything looked perfect for him to jump on the last Montjuic ascent. Good sprinting by Anton Martin to give us a top 5th atleast

That was unexpected, but at least it led to an interesting finale in what could be a boring flat one-day race. I was hoping for a top5, but I'll take 3rd in the bunch sprint. Congrats to ANC, their limited roster needs wins like these.
And nice report as well Pelli

Not surprised that a breakaway of sorts too this. Silly AI going to silly AI.
I'm fine with 7th and 21st and 22nd with my future Austrian star sprinter getting 22nd.

Congratulations.
In my opinion though, for this to be of any use, you should maybe show up a tad bit more often...

Shame about the race. AI playing up, and the win going to an inactive team. Who then magically show up when they win something...
Nice fast report though Pellizotti, can't fault that!

Whatever... another race another disappointment.
I'll end as the lanterne rouge in the CT...
Wim, what should I do?

Hold it with pride
Thanks Pelli for the report
