And algarve is what, a 2.1 race?So that leaves Catalunya, oh wait, Wiggins, Porte, Uran, Suitsou there. Nevermind.
Tirreno - Adriatico? Pais Vasco? Switzerland?
All WT races he might be given a chance.
Just wondering? where do you think he should have gone?

I'm pretty sure Cannondale is not disbanding BTW. They lost alot of there mtn support, but still have decent ones and Basso.

Haven't seen anything official yet. Don't think it's possible for a bike manufacturer to sponsor a pro team either. Cervelo tried but couldn't afford it.

Yeah you're right. BMC are just some small team.

Yeah, but BMC wouldn't be as ridiculously rich if Rhys wasn't cycling's Abramovich. BMC (the company) couldn't afford it.

Sky should disappear from this sport and start their own.

That describes every large team in cycling. Most of the big budget teams are just passion projects.

Not really. Astana is just a propaganda team to show the world the beauty of a central asian dictatorship. Likewise Katusha, Inner Ring wrote some very good blogs about them, it's pretty much a tool for Makarov's business. Probably the one team comparable to BMC would be OPQS.

That's the blog you're thinking of. And essentially it states that several Russians run the team for the glory of Russia. Why cycling? Because it is their passion, for no discernible reason.

It's cycling because Makarov was a cyclist. It'd easily be any other sport, because I sincerely doubt those guys really have "passion" for anything other than money and power.

And hence... a passion project.

Riis (Bjarne) get's a lot of passion money from Tinkov now.

Disagree - read the rest of my post.
And am I the only one that finds funny that while Sky is all over all the cycling threads, we're discussing Katusha in the Sky thread?
Edit: As for Tinkov, until they sign someone better than Bennati, I won't have them in the BMC/OPQS level. But yes, Tinkov is a good example as well.

awesome about Katusha
this doesnt have to be a sky thread, just a thread to move any cluttering arguements/debates to
