I am wondering about what happens with unsigned riders after the team movements in October.
I turned the season and Nibali has no team despite having won the Giro and finished second in the tour.
If I let the game run is there a chance a team will sign him before Jan 1 or is he going to remain unsigned until next year's transfers at this point?
I could sim forward and find out but hoping someone knows so I don't have to do that to find the answer is not the one I want. |

If I'm not mistaken, he'll remain unsigned, yes. In PCM11 I tried to assign them to teams, but I couldn't find a value that I think also needed to be edited:

Looks like from that thread I should be OK as long as I don't try and sign them after I have assigned them to the team. Looks to me as if all of the newly signed cyclists have a status of 2, "Sad to Leave" not 6. So I will try that. |

Well, logically "Sad to Leave" shouldn't apply to free agents, but it could be pretty much why it was not not working. If it works let us know

All the riders whose contracts are up in my db end up with sad to leave (even when they re-sign with the same team), I assumed that was a common bug.
But setting the fkIDcyclist_future to 2 doesn't make any difference, the problem you noted persists.
The solution was different. You have to fix the dkIDnewteam column in dyn_transfer - change it from 119 to whatever team you put the rider on. When I did that the riders I forced on to teams could no longer be signed.
Also, it seems like the role (absolute leader, young rider etc.) of the rider under the new deal is controlled by this table not the value in dyn_contract. |

why when i change the sponsor my team apear in the game with ohter shirt (focus shirt)... it is possility to cvhenge the shirt of my team in you editor during the game? At this momente when i start a race in game, there are 5 or 6 teams with the same shirt. The game run very well, only this i can fix. |

Did you change sponsors in the game or edit the database?
Are you using a shirt you created or an existing one?
A number of things could have gone wrong. |

I ran one season and when I started season 2013 I noticed that Cavendish and some other star riders like Jurgen van den Broeck and others were not on a team!
I looked at some of the World Tour teams and as an example Lotto only had 17 riders left on the team! It appears that after you complete one season that the computer controlled teams DO NOT re-sign any or at least most of their riders, and they DO NOT try to replace the riders.
I tried to edit the riders back in to the game save but found that task daunting at best and near impossible to do because the fast Editor that I was using is very difficult to make work properly. Even if I was able to put riders back on a team I figure that there must be 100 to 200 riders that were not signed. (I briefly looked at free riders and found 36 that were on a team the previous season and were no longer on any team.)
There are several hundred free riders in the game with out a team and when it comes time for teams to resign riders or hire new ones they DO NOT do it. Thats crazy and its a major flaw in this game...
What would happen if you actually run several seasons? Would each team (other then the human team) only have 5 or 6 riders left on the team? LOL
I've had this game a couple of years and never finished a season before so i never noticed this issue. I have a lot of time on my hands now so i did an entire season and this is how it turned out. Pretty sad.
Does this also happen in the 2012 version? it must because this game from year to year is pretty much the same. They need to fix this because it isn't right. I wanted to keep a career going and continue but can't. I can put up with having cavendish join some low level Continental team but not having him or any of the other riders not in the came is unacceptable.
My suggestion to you Ulrich Ulriksen is to just give up and save yourself the problems and frustration that i have experienced. (You can follow my thread that I posted in order to try to add the riders back. Its called can anyone help me? Its below this thread or near by because I was active in it trying to find a solution.)
My OCM career is OVER. Good luck.

The ONLY thing that I edited with the Fast editor was the teams goals. I set my own because the ones the computer sets are not good and i wanted something reasonable to strive for. I also placed a custom team jersey in to the game for my team. Thats it. I don't see how a custom jersey (thats shows up in the game fine would be a problem.) So maybe it was my editing of the teams goals... But I don't see how thats a problem. it loads and runs just fine...
Has any one run more then one season with no problems like this? If so, then its something I did. And thats a real bummer....

I don't think that post by Ulrich Ulriksen had anything to do with top riders being left without teams. It was a reply to lmdantas's post.
As for the problem; I remember Cyanide said that they hadn't noticed it in the Official Release, and thus it could be a problem only of custom DBs because of unbalanced stats overall. Sort of an excuse imo.

My only problem was a small number of big riders not having teams. So I only had to fix 2 riders. I did this and have no problem with my game.
The problem of a pro tour team only having 17 riders I haven't seen as often posted in the forum (but lluuiiggii you read a lot more post than I do). That seems like a bigger issue. However, I have played 4 season with the PCM DB and every pro tour team has at least 23 riders and I have only ever added back 1 or 2 riders total. I don't think this always an issue. If it was I think it would have been discussed extensively in this forum.
If you are using a different custom DB you might want to try a season with the PCM DB. I don't think you will have the 17 rider issue and fixing a few riders isn't hard. Doesn't fix the season you just played but not sure you should give up on the game for this issue which doesn't have to happen. |

I'm using the newest and latest DB that I got here on this site for PCM 2011. (It's the 2012 DB for PCM-2011. The DB runs perfectly fine other then the issue I have now.
Honestly, I actually only have 2 real stars that didn't get contracts. They are Cavendish and Jurgen Van den Broeck. I then looked at a lot of other no name riders that were NOT what I would call "stars" and I came up with 36 total. I didn't look any further.
Out of those 36 riders that I did find there was 1 more that I found other then Van den Broeck that were on the same team, so I took a look at his team Lotto Bissol and counted only 17 riders present on the team.
Since "most" teams in the game (at least World Tour teams) have around 27 riders on the squad I "extrapolated" that 10 of the Lotto Bissol riders were missing. I will go in to the game again and get an actual count of the numbers on all the World Tour teams.
I guesstimated that 18 teams times anywhere from 10 (18x10) to maybe just a few would put the number of riders with no contract and thus no team at around 100 to 180 or more. Add in the continental teams and it could be even more then that.
I have 1 Australian rider on my team and i did the Australian championship and last season I remember that there were 46 Australian riders in the race. I did the race this season (the only race for 2013 that I did) and there were 34 riders present this time. So thats 12 Australians right there that are missing, extrapolate that number across all countries and we're at my estimate of 100 to 200 riders total missing.
Did you actually go further and try to find any other riders that were missing Ulrich Ulriksen or did you just add the 2 Super Stars back in to the game and figure that was all that were missing?
Here is a short list of some of the other riders that I found:
Svein Tuft - Orica
Theo Bos - Rabobank
Robert Hunter - Garmin
Benjamin Noval - Saxo bank (What will Contador do with out his top team mate?)
Ramonas Navardauskus - Garmin (2 from Garmin)
David Boily - Spider Tech (The low level continental teams are effected too.)
And many others too numerous to mention now.
If I actually go in and investigate further I am sure that the numbers will be A LOT higher.
I guess that since this problem has never been seen before like this that it must be of my doing and it's my fault. However I have a hard time swallowing that one. Maybe I have a corrupt DB or some other issue is the problem. But since it takes me all day to down load these DBs and the accompanying updates I'm not going to bother doing that any more.
I may start up a small u23 team and do a few races but other then that my PCM career is pretty much over, plus I have grown close to this problem team and career because of all the time it took me to do the full season.
Thanks for listening to my long sad story and thanks for the help. It really is a very nice community of people that play and like this game and that at least is comforting. I'm discouraged by this... Thanks again. :

I have looked at the other riders who don't sign, but they have always been of the level of Svein Tuft and Ramonas Navardauskus. I understand your concern about Cavendish but do you think you would have noticed Svein Tuft was missing if you didn't look?
I agree Bos, Hunter and Noval maybe worth re-assigning.
It seems like you only have one PT team with 17 riders so maybe that is a random freak. I haven't noticed a general decline in riders signed as you extrapolate from the Australian NC but I haven't looked.
When I look at the number of riders per team now it seems reasonable. Although there is definite weirdness - Van den Broeck is on a spanish conti team for example. But I guess I am willing to live with that. |

Please disregard what I said above about riders leaving their team and not being replaced. I was WRONG and wanted to say that.
I researched this extensively. I checked every rider and took a good sampling of all of the World Tour teams and several of the smaller Continental teams.
This is what I found. When a rider does not have his contract renewed by his team he leaves the team. Whether he finds a new team or not the game does not care. Some riders like Cavendish in my game did not find a new team and he remained a free rider claimed by NO team.
However each AI team that I researched did indeed add a rider to replace the one that left. The new rider came from either another team, from the (free) riders list or they were generated by the game as new (rookie) riders.
So I say again, I was WRONG in my assessment that the game did not replace riders that left the team and that teams would eventually not have enough riders to compete as they were able to compete during their first "game" season. Teams DO add riders and they DO try to replace lost riders on the team and in some cases that I found they actually added more then just the one rider that left. Some teams added additional extra riders if they were under the 30 rider team limit and I'm assuming salary cap imposed by the sponsor.
I apologize for the wrong information I have been writing about.
Thank you for the help that many of you have provided to me. I was able to eventually add the star riders back to their team, like Cavendish.
NOTE: I made an error when I counted only 17 riders on the World Tour team I was talking about. In my investigation and subsequent recount, the team I originally thought only had 17 riders actually had 25 and a couple of those were new riders the team didn't have the season before.
Also, the fact that the Australian National race had less riders competing in it should NOT have been called in to question by me because the riders not in the race no longer had a team so they couldn't be in the race. But that doesn't mean that their former team had less riders because it DID NOT. I apologize for getting excited, thus causing me to make statements that WERE NOT TRUE. It wasn't intentional and I just wanted to set the record straight. Thank you.

I will pick up on this, as there is a seemingly random problem with free riders not signing contracts. After a normal season in a career I have found that there are usually 2-3 top riders that are left without a contract for next year. This is fine, and you can either assign them to a new team in an editor or let them have a free season. However, I have experienced several times that suddenly there are almost no transfers after a season. My PCM11 career had this now after the 2019(!) season, and this really makes it hopeless to progress this career any further.
This is because the result of this was that many World/Pro Tour teams will only have between 14 and 17 riders for next season, and I counted no less than 37 riders under the age of 33 with average 76 or more left without a contract.
I would of course appreciate it very much if anyone knew of a workaround to avoid this! |
