Hi all.
If I start a tour and select custom teams, I can select my riders for my team. But, the rest of the riders of the rest of the teams are selected by the game.
Could I make something in the database to force the game to select certain riders?
I have tried to editing the database and leave the teams with only 8 riders. Then I start the game and a Tour de Suisse but in some teams there are only 4, 5 or 6 riders, not the 8 that are needed in that race.
Then I have tried to edit these riders and select Tour de Suisse as favourite race but the problem is still there.
Every help and clarification will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your answers!

I know that...
My question is: what method uses the game to select the riders of the rest of the teams?. I have forced the database with 8 riders per team but then in the race some teams have less than 8 riders. Why happens that? |

Does the game select the riders of the other teams in a random way?
There is no way to force some riders to run a race without using startlists?
Thanks in advance for your answers! |

Hi Camacho,
no way to choose which riders a team entered into a GT will choose to ride from their current roster, no. That's the purpose of a startlist. The referenced thread explains they left startlist customization out or broke it and have stated there may not be time to fix it.
It was eleven more than necessary.

I know about the startlists (I had used them since the beginning of the times...). That's why I'm trying other things by other ways but for now, it's impossible.
I have explained my test above but... the game always selects the riders in a "supposed" random way.
So, this is always like this? And what means the "favourite race list"?

Which races a rider will participate in, is selected at the start of the season for all AI teams, if youopen an editor, and find "Team Races" there is a column called Gene_I_Roster If you edit this colum for the race in question, you can select a startlist without using an editor

@baggieboys32:
The table is called is DYN_team_race, only the Fast editor removes the DYN. (And I read that the Fast editor is not compatible with this years game.)
I am pretty sure this thread is not about a career. But maybe it is also possible to edit the race participation in Tour mode.
Try this Camacho:
Start the tour and select the teams.
Go forward until you are about to start the first stage of the race.
Go back to the menu.
Check if the game created a save for this unstarted tour.
If yes, then you could try editing the race participation as mentioned by baggieboys32 |

Thanks for your answers. Yes, everything is about Tour Mode, not career.
I'm going to try your possible solution and then I will come back and tell you the results.
Hope it will work... fingers crossed... |

Hi Camacho!
I think that for races as for example the Tour de France they have hard coded some riders as for example Andy Schleck, Contador, etc. I haven't looked through all the database tables, but isn't it possible that they store in some table a very basic program for the best riders? So that Scarponi starts in the Giro but not in the Tour de France, Andy Schleck only in the Tour de France, Basso in the Giro and the Tour de France but not in the Vuelta, and so on... I think they have hard coded some riders, and all the other riders are just randomly picked based on their overall.
I also think that the 'favorite races' attribute only applies in career mode.

I don't think so. Yes, there are rider programs based on what kind of riders they're, but it's not specific "Contador will go to the TdF". What happens is that the game recognizes Contador by his stats as one of the best stage races and give him a 'leader type' for the TdF, more specifically he'll receive the status of "cya_tdf", and then the game will assign him a racing/training schedule based on that. Same for Andy. Scarponi and Basso on the other hand, being both Italians, are more likely to receive a "cya_giro" status, and thus go to the Giro d'Italia.
And iirc favorite races (unfortunately) does not have an influence on what racing schedule the rider will receive (f.e. if he has 'Tour de Suisse' as one of the favorites it's not more likely he'll go to it), however if he attends to a race he has as favorite he'll have a small performance boost.

Hi all. Yesterday I was very busy but here are the results, for now...
First of all, I'm using "fast editor". I don't think that it's not compatible. Well, I start a race and before the first stage I close the game and go to My Documents\Pro Cycling Manager 2012\Users\Your Name\Database\Solo\OfficialRelease and there you have the new database created by the game for your new tour.
I open it and go to the tab Team Races. There you have the teams and the riders of the teams. I have edited the riders per team, save the database and open the game.
I continue the tour I have started previously and... voila! the riders are Ok like when we used the startlists!
Only 2 things:
The process is boring and tedious but it worths it.
I had various errors in the riders list. Riders with similar surname like Tony and Daniel Martin, Caruso... are capable of creating errors. Sometimes they not appear in the list of the race or the team have one more rider than the other teams.
So I had replaced them by other riders and then the list is complete and perfect.
I have try to explain as best as possible...
In any case I'm going to try other ways and things to reach a good result that the community could use.
But the best solution is that Cyanide would activate the startlists...

Hi everyone out there!
Good news for startlist lovers. I have finished testing the same that I told above but in this case using FullEditor_V400.
I have to say that I had no problems or errors. I have edited Team Races tab like before and the result has been perfect. The final startlist ingame is the one I want.
I know it's a little tedious process, but it worths it. Even worse using the FullEditor because you work only with numbers, but the result is excellent.
I hope the results that I had got will help people at the community.
Finally, like I tell above, I'm waiting for the Cyanide fix to the startlists... But if they don't do it, we have a workaround working like the old startlists. |

Good work - well done. Glad to see there's a workaround, even if it is rather involved.
It was eleven more than necessary.
