Still a whole bunch of nothing, despite putting 3 riders into the break (2 of the 3 worst possible candidates though).

Any stage I thought Pogacar was good for he's been terrible.

At least your team is trying to make it into breakaways!
Somewhat surprising results amongst the GC guys, and Darbellay hanging on to pink is impressive. Those final two stages really should be enough for whoever is strongest to win this race by strength, especially stage 20 looks brutal. |

Not a big fan of Champoussin's tactics here. Should have either went in the breakaway from the start or wait with the favorites for the finale as I feel he would have had a good chance at the stage win there.
This way it feels like he wasted a lot of energy for a few KoM points.
The KoM jersey seems to be the target now for Champoussin so hopefully we will see him in the breakaway in the next two stages. Barguil is definitely not gonna give up on that jersey so we need to fight hard for it.

Finally a day in the break
Im stunned by the look of the gc. Nuts to see darbellay still in pink and the riders behind him are quite surprising too. Foss is still looking real good but a drop is still very much possible

It would be nice to see Kudus do something in this race. He has definitely not lived up to his stats or his contract, and it's not clear to me why he is consistently finishing off the podium. I'm holding out hope for something in the last days of the mountains but he is far below expectations at this point. I'm trying not to complain too much but damn wtf

TT seems to be the stat every GC contender needs to have above all else, Morton has been pretty strong since destroying his race on the first mountain stage but only Kemboi is stopping this race from being a complete shambles for us here...

I guess I should be thankful Carthy gave it a dig in the finale there, but he really doesn't have the acceleration for that to be his game. He's never going to get favorites off his wheel with a burst of speed. He needs to go long range or wait until the peloton is much more thinned out to have a shot to make a difference.
We're up into the top 10 now, and not sure how I feel about it. There are still maybe 2-3 guys in the top 10 we could pass just by normal attrition if we're lucky, but then again, historically breakaway riders are still waiting to leap into the top 10 on the final couple of stages. That would leave Hugh with nothing. We'll need Carthy to actually get off his ass and be in one of those breaks in the final mountain stages to do anything meaningful here. Unfortunately, I'm not super optimistic for that result.

Great stage win from McNulty but agree nothing is decided yet, last few stages could change everything again. The game expects top GC guys to have top lieutenants and when that isn't the case it gets very open.

Aular just giving up for no apparent reason really sucks! I guess he’ll be on the offense in the next couple of stages though.

I forgot anout this stage so I was very disappointed when I opened the report to see we have to wait another day for the KoM battle.

Good to have Williams try! A pity it was the second try that was allowed up the road
Fingers crossed he can try again on one of the final two stages, for the fun in it. Stats wise, and seeing the history on what kind of riders are breakaway riders on the final mountain stages, he shouldn't be strong enough, but anything to cheer on in the report will be great
Thank you for another report, kb. Really looking forward to the final climax in the GC battle |

Finally a stage result, our first since stage 8! Wish Roson could have got something more but this is an improvement to what has been happening.
Thanks for the report!

Another breakaway stage, another were i would have loved to see someone like Calmejane or Arndt in the break. Foss is still positioned superb in GC so this race still has the chance to be a solid outcome in the end but im really not happy with the way we approach this race.

Can't wait to see these final stages - and hope that Fabianski is able to see the glory his team has to throughout the tour as they still lead the GC into the final stages. Still - almost impossible for him to keep it all they, but crazier things have happened.

The one stage I wanted a rider in the break and nada - we’re sadly not one of the break teams at the Giro. Also had it earmarked as a potential stage for Gaviria and looks like it could have been if we brought the break back. Congrats on the win abhi! Thanks for the report too kb

Not super exciting for stage 18 of a GT, but I guess the climbers deserved a rest for tomorrow. Excited to see how that goes!
Crazy and scary for Aular to just sit up on today's stage and take himself out of the GC. Even if he planned to go in breaks the next two days, (1) he was already far enough back to do that and (2) he couldn't have saved that much energy compared to staying with the huge pack on an easy day like today. I guess it just goes to what has been said previously, that the AI in this version doesn't care about minor placings at all, which leads to some weird MG results.
