We will begin to move into the GC battle now with the next stages, 2 hilly stages before 2 mountains and then the TT.
Great reports kb!

Excellent work by Verwilst again, but the others should really try to get that stage win. Unless they targetted a specific stage of course, then I won't complain if they win it.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Ah there we go, good to see Gaviria finally do what he’s here to do. Still not at all a dominant sprint, but hopefully this can be a turning point for him. Green jersey on his shoulders for a few days at least I hope, and now onto Stüssi to either lose boatloads of time and get lucky during the third week, or for him to hopefully follow the wheels of better climbers.
Congrats cio on the Madous masterclass, he’s having a great race. Thanks for the lovely reports also kb, much appreciated

MVD once again near the front of sprinty puncher stage. A podium is a great stage result for him. He would've been Top3/5 of the GC and holding the White jersey without the stupid time loss on Stage 6
Congrats to Oleg and thanks for the report!

A decent domestique team for Aular in theory, but they seem to have decided from the start of this Giro that Aular should prove he can handle hills by himself before actually helping him in the mountains?
Thanks for the nice report as usual, kandesbunzler26!

Nothing spectacular happening right now for my team. Sprint wise more like 3rd tier, consistent but without proper scoring.
GC wise the stages remain calm, the split here was not ideal, but luckily didn`t lead to time gaps in the end.
That said, Wellens slowly climbing up, now 8th in GC as always being up there. Vanhoucke and Teuns seem to be around him while Schelling is losing couple more for later attacks I hope.
Let`s see what the team can show in the mountains.
Thanks for the reports and congrats all winners on the last couple stages. |

FFS Kinoshita. Just give it a try will you! Pre-stage favorite, just sitting there.
Oh well, atleast Giannoutsos made it back.
A little bit more from the best puncheur in the race would be good tomorrow.

Continues to be a very anonymous race for us. At this point we're just waiting to see what Carthy does in the mountains.

Thank you for the report, kb!
We're definitely not given the green light to be a breakaway team on these hilly stages, and thus, we're not good enough to be present, really. Fair enough, I guess
Grieg with three riders in the top 7 on such a finish I must say is a surprise, and probably being the reward for putting out a proper leadout on such a stage?
We're counting down to stage 9 and 10 and the first real GC stages. The finishing mountain also looks so difficult that it should be some proper GC racing, I hope! |

Ah would have been so cool to get pink with that move, maybe a blessing in disguise given the suspect AI in this edition, could have easily gone wrong if Olivier started protecting Paulus. All in all a great stage win, really lovely stuff and our second 50k FA acquisition to get a win this season, love to see it Enjoyed it a lot, cool GT moment for us.

The peloton letting a two guy breakaway win certainly doesn't vouch for the AI Great win for Xero, a shame for them the gap wasn't awarded.
For us it was nice to see Carcueva actually staying with Aular for once
Thanks for the nice report, kb

I guess Teuns, Schelling would have been the better option here to fight for the stage.
Nevertheless Loland in 6th is awesome. He struggled a lot but still kept fighting.
Wellens safely in the main group is good, losing on couple riders only, which had been better suited for such stage.
That said, not ideal to see him isolated there with all three climbing domestiques being quite a bit behind.
Definitely something to change for the harder stages as the helpers mustn`t fail doing a bit more.
Thanks for the report. |

Two conglomerate riders on the podium, love it!
This race isnt going my way. Ovsyannikov with bad luck in the sprints and we are simply not joining the attacks so far. Definitely needs to change. Arndt second best finisher from the peloton for effectively nothing to gain just another sign that we are a bit unlucky here (although a break victory here is far from shocking)
Krasts continues to lose tons of time. Really unfortunate that he is not caring about securing a semi decent gc result in the fight for the youth classification
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

It's actually been great to see my alumnus Paulus win here, I've been rooting for him just a little bit in the end while reporting (sorry tasta)...

If there was one prologue I wanted to beat SKA it was this one, so I'm happy that Ganna could finally break his dominance in his home GT. Other than that not very eventful for us so far. I had hoped for a bit more from Contreras and McNulty staying out of trouble so far more or less is good to see.
Thanks for the reports up to this point! |

Good to see Champoussin in a move that stuck. Hopefully there will be more of those for the rest of the race because we've been quite invisible so far.

The breakaway winning - fair enough - but we sure didn’t get enough out of Kinoshita here. Good thing Zingle won that stage 2, because we have been nowhere in all other stages. We need to start putting points in the bank, otherwise our slightly early overperforming Q1 will be lost within this race alone.
Congrats on a cool breakaway win though. Nice to see that those work alright on these stages.
