First stage was good, then Oomen and Potocki wanted to protect Bonifazio I guess? Not sure what else could have happened there. It's going to be hard to stay in the PT if the game will keep treating us like this.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Kelsermann? What year is it?
Congrats Jakstar, what a way to start the season for you! Also crazy to see the more one dimensional punchers all at the front doing so well - I wonder if this will be the case more often this season. Riders like McCartht et al that got picked up on the cheap could be game changers for their teams.
Great result for Dunbar, we had quite a few riders near the front and it would have been nice to try and put pressure on Vesuvio and at least try to dislodge Würtz, but he was well positioned and finished near the front which is all we can ask for. On to tomorrow, let’s see how TT’s go in the new version and hope for a podium.
Thanks for the report Cunego!

Great start for us! Stage win with a rider who we didn't really know would be able to. And at PT level is insane! Hopefully the hills squad can perform like this for the rest of the season! Good to see Duyvesteyn with an amazing leadout and placement of Kelderman. I really think that helped! Now on to the TT. Carlos is up there and could steal us a decent GC finish. Howson dropped but still could get a good stage finish for us!
Cheers Cunego for the great reports so far!

Pretty happy with that race. Howson did fairly well in the end. Carlos in 30th overall but mainly we get that stage win which definitely was unexpected! Really happy with how it all went.
Congrats to Wirtgen and EA on the double podium! Cheers Cunego for the reports!

Zmorka with a great stage to get 2nd. We were expecting him to be dropped on Stage 2 and that happened, so it wasn't that much of a loss, expectations wise. Both Zmorka and Hofstetter getting what we hoped for, and maybe a bit more is a good start, even though we somehow did not try to get anyone into the break here!
Congrats to SN and thanks for the reports cunego

We got some KOM points, but it feels like there will be a lot more races like this for us this year.
Thanks for the reports and congrats to all the winners and others who've done well here

Thats a rough result for us. Both Herregodts and Plapp with bad days on the final day and this result is very much on the low end of potential outcomes for us.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Missed the opener as being away last couple days.
What to say: Was worth a short with Phinney, even though arguably hurts to not even see him on the TT favourite list at all. :/
Stage 1: Vesely did really great. Was up there as solo sprinter, picked the right train, gave it all, was looking good and finished 5th, which might be the maximum in the field without a lot of luck. For a moment looked like a potential podium sprinter, but already a nice update to last season.
Stage 2: Nothing to see here. Far too few gaps, which in the end were good for us. Had 3 riders in there with Phinney being decently placed in top20 even without being seen anywhere.
Stage 3: Top 10 TT for Phinney is all I can hope for, top 10 in GC eventually. Maximum reached. Can`t hope for more against Wirtgen/Würtz etc.
There will be better races for Phinney anyway.
And nice to see Hessmann also in top20 GC, good performance by him.
Thanks for the reports and congrats SN. The expected top performance here by the new TT duo. |

Very happy with Tasmania this season! We held the right ticket for stage 1 and the sprint there, and then to go away from here with a solo points jersey win, and also an extra day in yellow, was a bonus. Great start for Groenewegen and the team
Congratulations to Vesuvio, W & W doing what was kind of expected, eventhough Würtz' time trial wasn't quite matching his standards from earlier season, eventhough it feels like he's often a somewhat slow starter every season, before getting it all right when the flat TT races come later. Dunbar and Indosat also with a great result here! Who knows, if Gaviria now gets everything right in Qatar, I'm sure we'll have to talk about a newly promoted team as a proper title contender
Thank you for the report, cunego, and also the consistentcy they've all come with! |

Thanks for the great preview and reporting, cunego!
Although Galvan Ramirez could have done ok in GC, the AI just didn't think of him as anything useful, so he never really tried to follow on stage 2. A shame, but to be expected with the PCM AI. Guess the same thing can be said for the way we tried to build a lead-out for the Halvorsen sprint. Sixth is better than nothing of course, better than several results last season at least
Congratulations to all that did well

Congrats SN, don't even want to know how many points you just got and will get at every TT race
Nothing race for us with van Niekerk missing the split. Fairly expected result, tough ones for both Evonik guys having poor days and Zmorka missing the split in particular. Thanks for the great reports cunego

Great ride from Dunbar, exactly what was needed! Getting one over the WC here is huge, he and Wirtgen should own 1st and 2nd place on the podium in races like this all season. No chance of coming out on top of Wirtgen, though
What a team performance too - Firdaus, Wibisono and Fikri Azka all inside the top-30 and Firdaus just missing the u25 jersey is huge. All in all, a perfect way to start the season.
Congrats SN. Thanks for the lovely reports, Cunego

Gidich not winning the hilly stage against such an opposition is a bit worrying for the season, but nice to see my team a lot on the front and on the other hand also great with Kelderman getting a stage win for the PCT team from the region. Congrats jakstar!
Mano and Ganna as 5th and 9th in GC is about how it could've been expected. Two more top 20s with van Baarle still punching above his weight even after a first decline and Fung.
Thanks for the great reports of the season opener and congrats SN on a huge early seasons rankings lead! |

As expected, nothing from the TT. In such a situation, taking the KOM jersey and a stage podium is a very solid result in what would have otherwise been a complete nothing race for us. We'll need that kind of luck throughout the year to stay up.
Thanks for the reports!

Ouch, Leknessund had an off-day. In better form he could've ended up in the GC top 10, but now he has to settle for 15th. Not a great start.
Congrats to Vesuvio and Polar!

Well, it's a top 10. Wasn't expecting Frigo to be our 2nd best rider here.

And we're off! Sorry for missing the start of the season, but I guess becoming a father for the first time just slightly edges the season start in the MG
Liked our aggressive racing. We will probably go down this year, so at least good to go out swinging. We of course missed Würtz here compared to previous seasons. A good race for him and EA of course, congrats SN!
And thanks for the reports, cunego
