Tour de France - La Grande Prédiction
Nemolito
Hello, back with another GT prediction game after Ollfardh obliterated the rest of us with his Del Toro GC pick in the Giro d'Italia. This time it's the second most important stage race in the world, only being beaten by the Belgium Baloise Tour.

The TDF is upon us with the start in one and a half weeks on the fifth of July, so it as starting to be time to set up this thread. Still some teams to be completed as well, but figured it wouldn't hurt to get this starting already.

Some bonus question (slightly) changed and some added, but apart from this, basically the same set-up as for the Giro. Would love to see some old and new faces join. Good luck to all!

In this game, you can make a top-10 prediction (once) for the GC, the KoM-jersey, the points jersey and the U25 jersey. Obviously before the Tour itself starts. Apart from that you give ten names per stage as well, before that particular stage starts. You can send a new list every day, you can send a list for the upcoming three stages, you can already give a list of all stages now (and edit later), it doesn’t matter. Just make sure you have a list of a stage posted sometime before that stage if you want to score points in that stage.

The thing is, I don’t expect you to give the exact top-10 in that order, but just the ten riders that you think will finish in the top-10. How does the scoring work? Well, for example, this is what the top-10 in a stage will score: 1 – 100p, 2 – 90p, 3- 80p, etc. until 10 – 10p.

So let’s say Van Aert wins a stage, and 5 out of 10 people in this game had him in his top 10, those 100 points are divided between five managers. That gives five managers 20 points. If, on the other hand, Roglic is second in that stage, and only one manager selects him for that stage, that team scores 90 points. The same system for GC and other classifications. Important note about the scoring: you must score a full point to earn it. For example: if 6 managers score 11,8 points each for a rider during a stage/classification, they earn 11 points in the ranking.

Some extra point-scoring questions allow you to score as well, as they give you 25 points per question. These point are not shared with anyone. Apart from that you can also appoint a team captain before the start of the Tour. The points that rider scores for your team will be multiplied by 1.5 at the end of the race.

Scoring system:

GC points:
500 – 450 – 400 – 350 – 300 – 250 – 200 – 150 – 100 – 50

KoM, sprint, U25 points:
250 – 225 – 200 – 175 – 150 – 125 – 100 – 75 -50 - 25

Stage points:
100 – 90 – 80 – 70 – 60 – 50 – 40 – 30 – 20 – 10

Captain: 1.5x the points you scored with that rider at end of Tour.

Bonus questions:
25 points per question

Bonus questions:
1) What team will have the most stage wins?
2) What rider will be part of the first breakaway of the Tour? (simply a breakaway attempt will not count, must be ‘long’ enough)
3) What rider will lead the U25 classification during the first rest day?
4) What team will win the team’s classification?
5) Will a goat, cow, dog or other animal disrupt a stage this year, (almost) causing a crash?
6) What rider will win back-to-back stages? (Write no rider or sth if you think it won’t happen)
7) How many stages will be won by a French rider?
8) Will the final Tour podium (Top 3 overall) include a rider who has never before podiumed at a Grand Tour? Yes or no.
9) Will there be a stage where the peloton finishes more than 12 minutes and 35 seconds behind the breakaway winner? Yes or no.
10) What team will not win any stage?
11) Will somebody younger than 23 (max. 22 y/o and 364d) win a stage?
12) Will somebody older than 34 (including 34) win a stage?
13) Will both Van Aert and van der Poel win a stage?
14) What will be the nationality of the rider winning stage 10 on the French national holiday?
15) How many riders will wear the yellow jersey for the first time in their career during this Tour?

Very cool that you are setting this up for the Tour too, Nemo! Definitely hoping to join, and will probably do a knockout to have all stages covered, and then rather change before every/certain/some stages due to time limitations Pfft

Hoping even more people join, only to make those rare solo picks even more valuable points wise, to see us all go creative for «breakaway stages» Grin
