Hello and welcome to England and the County of Cheshire for a Gravel and Cobbled classic in the interestingly named PTHC Cheshire Cycling Tour despite covering about 1% of this glorious County.
Held as 5-day stage race from 2018 to 2021
2023: Jan Polanc (Evonik - ELKO)
2022: Edward Theuns (MOL Cycling Team)
2021: Przemyslaw Kasperkiewicz (King Power)
2020: Przemyslaw Kasperkiewicz (King Power)
2019: Danny Summerhill (Andorra Cycling Project)
2018: Jérome Baugnies (Kulczyk - DMTEX)
| Rider | FL | HI | CO | ST | SP | AC | Per | 79 | 70 | 82 | 74 | 74 | 74 | Van Hooydonck | 73 | 71 | 82 | 75 | 61 | 72 | Altur | 75 | 70 | 82 | 75 | 72 | 68 | Gerts | 77 | 78 | 82 | 76 | 72 | 70 | Teunissen | 76 | 67 | 81 | 77 | 67 | 69 | Kasperkiewicz | 76 | 74 | 81 | 75 | 59 | 67 | Anderberg | 78 | 69 | 80 | 77 | 60 | 73 | Daniel | 72 | 68 | 79 | 75 | 75 | 71 | Ferreira | 73 | 68 | 79 | 74 | 71 | 69 | Siric | 78 | 71 | 78 | 77 | 77 | 71 | Neilands | 77 | 69 | 78 | 74 | 71 | 67 | Polanc | 72 | 73 | 78 | 78 | 67 | 75 | Debesay | 74 | 73 | 78 | 73 | 68 | 76 | Zubov | 67 | 62 | 78 | 68 | 60 | 67 |
A full startlist here we have everything from top PT cobblers Gerts and Per both currently top 10 riders in the PT individual rankings after the cobbled season in mainland Europe. While the two top PCT cobblers in Daniel and Kasperkiewicz are also making the startlist in what look s a formidable race.
Regarding the course I would call this more a light version of Strade Bianche then a Ronde as well the early section include cobbles and the final circuits finishing climb is on a cobbled hill these are the english cobbles more famous from Lincoln GP and therefore not the brutal Flemish kind, as well as that we have several long gravel stretches on the course (all long sections in the race profile are gravel) and many brutally steep hills akin to a Tour De Yorkshire or Yorkshire Grand tour depart from Real Life with us just being about 50km away from where most of the tough stage 2 IRL happened.
To me that favour one man in particular Gerts would be my absolute favourite for this one with his great balanced profile ideal for such a race. two time previous winner Kasperkiewicz, Polanc and Debesay should also be at an advantage while the one dimensional cobblers like Zubov could be in for a rough ride early on in what looks a brutally hard middle section.
Maybe someone else can surprise, if so, you can try to guess who, while looking at the full startlist below. Good luck, everybody!

Thanks for the preview, jt!
I was actually a bit surprised that Daniel features so high in the list of favourites, but we'll happily take this opportunity for a top 10 (or maybe even more) in a PTHC classic. And if we only nearly get our usual cobbles depth it could be another really good race.

Cobbles in PT and we're not here ???? Didn't really fit unfortunately this season. Expecting a good fight for the win!

Per as the big favorite here, but Gerts should have a big shot at the win here!

Seeing all the difficult hills, you could argue Gerts is the slight favourite, ahead of Per. At least difficult to see past any of those two. Seeing the startlist, I'm definitely hoping for a top 5 from Anderberg here, as his backup stats will hopefully give him an advantage, or at least cancelling out his disadvantage purely looking at hill stats.
Looking forward to the race, and your report, jt! |

Didn't realize we'd have no Wisniowski or Pedersen to deal with here Big opportunity for us obviously, although Gerts should be the favorite. At least want a podium though!

Benoot has done well here previously and we're hoping for a repeat, despite him not being on the favourites' list. Support is decent, so we're hoping it helps.
Thanks for the review jt

Pretty workable startlist, just praying that Kaspa does his thing here with no issues!

I wouldn't be surprised if Polanc wins in back-to-back years here. I think a top 10 finish is a realistic goal for Siric, maybe we can compete for a top 5 if he deals well with the hills.
I'm gonna miss the cobbles after this. Thanks for the preview

Thank you for the report and your thoughts, jt! Anderberg with a rather anonymous performance, which felt kind of unusual for him. Just inside the top 10 with 9th is fine, eventhough we hoped for slightly more. Congratulations on a dominant win, bbl! Carlsberg running away with all the points these days!
Seeing the start of the race, I thought crashes were turned off for MG races? Also seeing the massive gaps, I am kind of wondering if there was any daily form limit in place? Do you know/remember, jt?
Also, I can only second what redordead wrote before the race… Going to miss the cobbles! |

Ahh apologies all this one is a mistake on my part I've not turned the frequency of falls down to 0% though daily form was inactive.
The race will be replayed in the morning and I'll have the new report up tomorrow for you all apologies in advance anyone who did see the report and thanks for noticing early ember ! |

No, no, not so fast! Think it is best to ask MG admins if a rerun is needed, as it is only you who can say if, and potentially how, it impacted the race.
For the daily form, I think it should be +/- 2, but that will also need to be checked/asked to MG admins, as that is only a very vague memory from whenever daily form impact were discussed/adjusted, which is several seasons ago, I think |

Not having seen the report, I second what ember says. If the crashes didn't have any significant impact on the race, no need to re-run unless someone explicitly asks for it. In which case I think it'd have to be done indeed, as the settings weren't correct.
Daily form (aka race day condition) should indeed be Level 2 (i.e. +/- 2), random form should indeed be deactivated. RDC level was only adjusted for the 2023 season, though, as this feature didn't exist in previous versions

What a crazy week to be crazy busy at work, miss a couple of days, and learn of a mystery report that we supposedly dominated.
On the crashed, obviously any impact scoring, but you can kind of tell if any actually mattered (or led to abandonment). Daily Form +2/-2 is the standard though and you can't really know what would have happened. I guess it's better it was at 0 than +5/-5 or something, but still takes something out of the game.
If others want, I'm okay with a re-run even though I can only do worse. That's the luck of the game, after all. There was one year I reported Roubaix and the game crashed in the sprint slow-mo in the velodrome. Had to replay. Things happe. (Bewley won both time thought )

Final apology sorry again should not be having to rerun and apologies to anyone with a worse result than 1st run
The climb causes so much havoc everytime up. I am wondering if there's some MO stat at play as Daniel just can't get over it and Baukensis et al all overperformed again
Polanc is about as unlucky as you can be certain to win without the puncture but this race just can't stop throwing up drama
Cobbled riders don't seem to attack very often in this stage must be a lot of red bar used throughout the hills and not much left on the cobbles hence the few attacks
Gerts looks so strong in the sprint if you bring him to the bottom of that climb he would win everytime |

Heart break and a half there for knockout
Great recovery from our guys though after Kaspa didn't make the first split, Riesebeek and GVK secure good depth scoring as well, we can be satisfied with our race.
Congrats to Alex on the win!

Only a minor loss of points, so no complaints from our side.

Not gonna lie I was much happier with the 1st run
Although 8th is still a pretty realistic result for Siric and mostly in line with his other results this season. Poljanec at least partially recoups some lost points from the 1st run with a good depth result.
I thought my Polanc prediction was gonna come true this time, but that was a nasty puncture
Gerts is a deserved winner though. Congrats and thanks for the report

When making the decision to do it again, thank you a lot for doing it this quickly, jt!
A very good result for us with a podium for Anderberg, though, what a bad luck for Polanc and knockout. As jt writes in the report, that was a sure win out the window. Feel bad for knockout, hoping Evonik can start to bring in the big points soon, maybe already in Fleche with MAL. Commiserations, knockout!
Seeing the top 2 and adding Polanc as the third rider who should have been on top, it is a testament to their qualities on such a course. Gerts winning the sprint convincingly ahead of Per, proving that they were strongest together with Polanc. Congratulations, alexkr00! |

5th and 15th is a good result! Our cobbled season hasn't been great so far, so this is very welcome.
