Well, I hate that Eastman schedule
But to be fair, it would've looked pretty similar if I had bought him, just swapping Tasmania and Dauhpiné for Ukraine and Suisse... Not looking forward to meet him again, definitely not Which probably means you did indeed pick the right races for him GC podium possible in the Giro? Another Eastman vs. McNulty fight there? Given both teams' TTT power and GC leader skills, I wouldn't be surprised...
Facing Aular won't be much more fun, though. Will still be interesting to see how my climbers fare against him in the GTs, in particular wondering how much time loss in the mountains they can make up for in the TT(s). He should definitely be a solid Top 10 contender both in TdF and Vuelta.
I think your Eastman(/Mcnulty) statements are spot on I wouldn't mind Aular to finish top-10 in the other GT's, but that will depend on the competition as well. His time trial stat indeed is not the best of the pack
Leader planning: Against the clock Time to show the planning of our most important time trial leaders, the Ukrainian and German time trial champions. Biggest differences is that in January Zmorka will be acting as a shadow leader in Tasmania and Sütterlin in Qatar (although this could perhaps be changed to Portugal still), and the German also has two more French races with Paris - nice and the Dauphiné. Both riders will be part of Eastman's Giro squad.

I didnt expect to ever say that but im not a big fan of the Eastman schedule because of competitive reasons
Foss and Plapp will see his back a fair bit this season with very similar schedules.

That's definitely not something I wanted to read, either, but something I fully expected nonetheless
On Zmorka's schedule, the best news for me is that Gabby will only face him in Praha, increasing his podium chances elsewhere Otherwise, only Slovenia could be considered a slight surprise, but I guess he has to spend his RDs somewhere
And a nice story for Sütterlin that he'll spend his final race days at his peak in his home race

Looking good with the schedules for the mountain and TT leaders. Eastman and Zmorka should be up there competing for podiums at least in all races they enter. Both Aular and Sutterlin will depend a bit on the startlist, but they will both be adding useful points with Top 10 results.

@ko: I have a lot of respect for Foss and Plapp and can see them achieve amazing things in the future. Just hope this season indeed they mostly stay behind Eastman
@Fab: I didn't look at Zmorka's prologue stat indeed, hope to capitalize on his longer time trial capacities mostly. As long as guys like Wirtgen, Würtz and Dunbar stay away from his races he should be fine. But it would surprise me to see the former two not attend races like Praha and Herbiers of course. Ideally they don't go to the Giro either.
@Abhishek: Top 3's and top 10's are indeed the hope.
Leader planning: The Higuita Only one man in today's schedule, the man we spent most of our budget on the last two seasons. Sergio Higuita could be a great rider for the Balkans or perhaps even a GT like the Giro, but we have other plans for him this season. By picking some slightly more unusual races like TONE we hope to see him score some points to help us in our survival race.
Sergio Higuita 07-Jan | 09-Jan | Tour of Tasmania | PT | 12-Feb | 18-Feb | Tirreno - Adriatico | PT | 28-Feb | | Milano - San Remo | M | 01-Mar | 03-Mar | Ronde van Nederland | PT | 20-Apr | | GP Liechtenstein | PT | 30-Apr | | Amstel Gold Race | PT | 03-May | | Fleche Wallonne | PT | 07-May | | Liege - Bastogne - Liege | M | 01-Jun | 03-Jun | Scandinavia Open Road Race | PT | 28-Jun | | Clasica San Sebastian | PTHC | 04-Sep | 10-Sep | Tour of Northern Europe | PT | 09-Oct | | Japan Cup | PTHC | 18-Oct | | Giro di Lombardia | M |

I think your Eastman(/Mcnulty) statements are spot on
I would've loved to go for the Giro with McNulty but my TTT squad is needed at the concurrent Tour of Lithuania. It seems like him and Eastman will only meet at Paris - Nice.
Like Fabianski, I'm also happy to learn that Zmorka's prologue stat was not considered during planning
Will be interesting to see how Higuita does with his training. It's a shame though that he won't compete at Balkans. |

Leader planning: fast men For the first time since 2021 this section does not include Matti Manninen, which still feels... interesting. Halvorsen goes to the expected races mostly, with the Vuelta being chosen as his GT to shine. As one of the probable sprint favourites we are crossing our fingers for the sprinter AI to not do him too hard. He opens his Oxxo career in Qatar. Marin on the other hand opens his OXF season in Portugal, and will have the chance to do something magical in the Tour de France. We will not send any sprinter to the Giro.

I'm not. Big fancy PT teams sending their first string TTT squads to little races like Lithuania shouldn't be allowed.
Will definitely be following McNulty vs Eastman in Paris Nice. Higuita schedule is interesting, looking forward to seeing how well that stat combo plays in the WT puncheur races. We won't miss him in the Balkans that is for sure.

I believe Gabriel Marin would have looked better in the Costa Rican national champion jersey of Manada Coyote. Marin had a very nice run with my team and I am glad he ended up signing here. I now follow your lovely team even more closely and I can't wait to see Marin race Tour de France. He definitely deserves, from a very personal point of view, such an experience in the big races. Obviously, I am really hoping he can notch a top result in this GT too.
Good luck in the new season!

Not the most obvious calendar for Higuita, but given the need to balance with your stage racers, I think this way you have covered most ground. The sprinters were probably easier to plan. Waiting to see how much of the Manninen void can be filled by Halvorsen (and assisted by Marin).

Surprise, Higuita's schedule has lots of overlaps with Schmid's
Will be closely looking at his Liechtenstein performance, as I hesitated (and finally abstained from) sending Schmid there as well.
Some TTs that will definitely hurt Higuita's GC ambitions, Tasmania, Tirreno, ToNE, but he's done great as a stage hunter last year - that's tons of points on the table as well.
Halvorsen's schedule pretty straightforward, with the only open question probably being TdF (bigger points) vs. Vuelta (more sprints). Well, I'm not unhappy I picked the other one for Groves, Bol will face Halvorsen in Spain instead But otherwise, Groves has to face him almost everywhere. Should be a great schedule for the Norwegian anyway; looking quite a lot like Matti I suspect he could also be similarly consistent

@Ulrich: On the contrary, they should teach the poor PCT teams a thing or two there
@DW: Would be a great feeling for both you and me if he would actually win a stage in France. Then he'd also be worth the 1m asking price you'd give for him in the next off-season.
@Abish: I would be very thrilled if Halvorsen + Marin could together reach the same amount of points as Matti. Won't be easy, but they can try.
@Fab: I expected some Schmid overlaps yeah. I liked Schmid more with his stats of last season tbf I'm also not unhappy Groves goes to France, but I think with this sprint AI Bol might still easily outscore Halvorsen (in the Vuelta)
Before the season really starts, I thought it was nice to throw in some Los Pollos statistics of the last four seasons. These statistics make it even more clear why it was so hard to let go of Zepuntke. And also Manninen I guess. Baugnies still as sixth best scorer with only 1 CT season is massive.

Also I will take good care of your #3. I hope he will do so great for us so he can easily reach the top spots at our team too.

Tour of Tasmania (PT) First race of the year was the Tour of Tasmania. With Eastman, Zmorka and Higuita we had three different kind of strong GC contenders present.
Sadly some weird gaps on the flat stage in addition to the fact that Zmorka got dropped on the hilly stage whereas much weaker riders didn't ensured our GC ambitions ceasing to exist. Eastman in 66th is our best result, which is quite shocking. Higuita did show himself with a solid fourth place on the hilly stage, and Zmorka even surprised us with a stage win in the time trial, so we didn't leave the race completely empty-handed.
Zmorka time trialing
Tour of Qatar (PT) First test of the year for other newcomer Halvorsen. The Norwegian started the race with an 18th place, but improved in the following three stages, including a podium finish on stage three. His consistency and the fact that he didn't lose too much time in the epilogue lead towards a very solid fifth place in the final GC, one place above our former star Matti Manninen.
Some decent depth scoring from our prologue riders in Qatar as well, as Sütterlin finished 18th, Vlatos 21st and Erdenebat 34th. Not a bad race for our Mexican talent project either, as Aguilar Mendez finished 7th in the U25 classification, scoring the first Mexican white PT points (yes, that's a thing) for our team.
Halvorsen sprinting to a third place

Tasmania definitely was an awful race, reminds me of my Ukraine outcome last year... No real reason for it, just a lot of bad luck I guess.
But Halvorsen more than made up for this, Top 5 is definitely a great result for him. Better than Manninen, guess you did a perfect job there. Well done!

Tasmania was obviously a bummer, but if that's to be said about a race where you scored a stage win it shows what expectations are put on your team. Good to see you doing better in Qatar, let's hope you'll continue this way. I've put high expectations on your team pre-season, so don't prove me wrong
