The preview, as well as the report, is brought to you by whitejsersey.
Welcome back to the C2 circuit! This time we’re heading to Hungary for the Betonexpress GP! A tricky route that starts with a circuit going over some tiring hills that can cause serious damage to a peloton. Positioning will be of the utmost importance over the 210km race due to the way that splits can occur. With the route introduced let’s jump into the favourites that are going to be present on the start line!
Favourites:
A rider that still has the top speed but will struggle to make it to the finish line is Lo Cicero. The Italian veteran tends to pop up occasionally despite being 35 much like Guerao who also still matches most of the top favourites on pure sprinting ability but struggles to get there. Looking at the actual favourites Hilcona has brought an incredible duo on paper. Krieger & Havik are two riders that both have shown moments of individual brilliance at this level in the past and depending on who’s the stronger on the day the other will be a massive lead-out rider to keep an eye out for.
With the hills potentially playing a small part a case can be made for Bertilsson and Kamberaj also need consideration as the biggest favourites here. While they’re no Demare or Prime Kump they’re better than most of the field while going upwards, especially wit a small climb being present in the leadup to the end of the race they might save some energy. The Albanian has obviously been one of the shining stars of the CT season so far amassing a total of 449 points landing him in second place in the individual rankings behind Chiarello who’s just trouncing everything. Speaking of the Swede he is a part of an incredibly stacked contingent from Tafjord where they have three potential race winners present alongside Eislers and Waersted.
Rojus should on paper be a great rider to snatch a win here but overall Gjensidige doesn’t bring a lot of support for the potential leadout as we also saw in Uppsala where he was left to his own devices.
Willwohl comes in flying form with a stage win in Benelux against PCT competition and might be able to ride that high all the way to a win here.
Rider | FL | HL | ST | RS | SP | AC | Lo Cicero | 68 | 60 | 65 | 57 | 80 | 72 | Guerao | 70 | 61 | 65 | 58 | 79 | 70 | Rojus | 75 | 67 | 66 | 74 | 79 | 78 | Havik | 73 | 64 | 74 | 68 | 79 | 76 | Krieger | 71 | 62 | 71 | 74 | 79 | 79 | Kamberaj | 75 | 69 | 73 | 73 | 79 | 78 | Eislers | 76 | 64 | 72 | 73 | 79 | 73 | Bertilsson | 73 | 69 | 72 | 71 | 79 | 77 | Willwohl | 73 | 65 | 71 | 67 | 79 | 78 | Reinhardt | 70 | 66 | 71 | 64 | 78 | 82 | Liepins | 73 | 66 | 73 | 68 | 78 | 79 | Marin | 74 | 65 | 73 | 73 | 78 | 78 | Colbrelli | 73 | 60 | 72 | 70 | 78 | 73 | Cisse | 74 | 63 | 73 | 67 | 78 | 77 | Merlier | 73 | 68 | 72 | 72 | 78 | 74 | Waersted | 73 | 67 | 69 | 78 | 78 | 79 |
Late Attackers:
When it comes to the late attackers we have the usual suspects showing up to this race. Veyhe is a name that everyone always looks towards especially in combination with his teammate Rickaert who can be a lethal double attack in the latter stages of the race. Other names to keep an eye out for will be Ruiz English & Novardianto
Rider | FL | HL | ST | RS | AC | FT | Veyhe | 80 | 68 | 66 | 71 | 78 | 80 | Ruiz | 79 | 68 | 73 | 71 | 75 | 67 | Rickaert | 78 | 69 | 75 | 75 | 73 | 67 | English | 78 | 64 | 74 | 73 | 75 | 59 | Yzeiraj | 77 | 66 | 74 | 74 | 71 | 85 | Novardianto | 76 | 68 | 70 | 78 | 79 | 74 |

Thank you for the preview whitejersey. We have no sprinter, so hopefully a late attack from Ruiz nets us some points (or through decent positioning in the end at least). Would be nice to have someone in the early break as well then. Good luck to all

Woops, the part where I mentionned it was made by whitejersey was skipped.
Anyway, not much hope for Guerao, but maybe Pacher can go out in a small group and bring us some points.
Good luck everybody!

Hoping the Hills are impactful this season to give a shot to Lagane/Mayer, but Major is here too if not. Not much expextation as this race doesn't suit us, probably too hard for Jay and too easy for the Mauritians.

Naud leads us here, signed him in the hopes he could put in an attack and have an impact in a race like this.

It's a wide open field. Based on previous results I would say Bertilsson, Rojus, Marin and Kamberaj are the men to beat. Also holding an eye on Willwohl who has done well in Benelux Challenge lately.
I hope Liepins at least scores a top 10, fingers crossed!
Good luck everybody!

No Houle but time for the rest of the roleurs to make something happen!
EDIT: Going to keep that comment there to show everyone what a dummy I am for being Zabel'd by 8 minutes on the report Tesfaye Hegyi stopping a 0-pointer is the standard for us when we disappoint in the flat classics and about par for the course really. Thanks for the report wj and Imladrik for the delivery

I'm happy. Ruiz tried something and almost got a top-10. Would say it's the second best result of his career aside from a sixth place in a TdF stage last season. Congratulations to Hilcona on the win, and thank you for the nice report, whitejersey! (and for posting it, Imladrik)

Another great performance from Liepins, again a podium spot in a one day race.
Congrats to Noutisgoud with the win and to Mantez for yet again a big points haul with Kamberaj.
Thanks WJ for the report!

Thanks for the preview and report wj... I mean imladrik
Congrats to the winner also.
Willi couldnt go on with his superb performance from Benelux but he was still able to score a bit with P8, so thats fine and I can live with this. At least he was able to score at all, Thats something we cant take for granted at 1 Day races this season.

Nothing for us but Naud tried and that makes me feel good that it wasn't a crazy idea. He is doing 3 C2 classics, I was hoping to get a decent result from one of them. One more chance.
Congrats to Hilcona and thanks for the report.

Happy with Wipperts 4th place finish
I few more overperformances and top-10 in the division might be possible after all
