Well that was a dud. The trickle of points we were getting is also over.

Some very narrow roads there, of the kind that we used to remove from man game entirely. But since the results actually ended up being more realistic than usual, I guess that's not really an issue.

Back to mountains now!

Perhaps one way to at least buff sprint trains for this iteration? Obviously one to look into in the off season maybe as I'm not going to complain considering this was the first proper result Cullaigh has grabbed here in Italy...

Good to see Schmid in the break once again on stage 11, although he obviously stood no chance against the stronger climbers. But it's still a good way to show off his white jersey, as long as he holds it Smile
Stüssi didn't make the smartest choice by leading the chase for a moment, paying for that effort afterwards. He's still 6th in the GC, though, and his stage result is still pretty much fine even with some time loss. He'll definitely not be allowed in the break for now, but maybe it could now be Darbellay's turn to try something?

Stage 12 was disappointing for us - really bad positioning by Bol for the first time in this race, which shouldn't happen to the Ciclamino. Well, now he's lost it, time to get it back at the next occasion Smile

Congrats to fellow wildcard team Xero, and to Vesuvio for their stage wins - and thanks for the reports to Abhi!

Everyone safely through the sprint stage. That stage 13, though... Excited to see the GC riders have a go at it Grin

Could be, but I have been building a theory that the slight downhill sprints have more to do with it (with riders generally not blowing up as fast) than the narrow roads. And I'm totally down to add more of them if that ends up being the case. But indeed, something for the offseason.

Mas showing some strength in Stage 11 which is promising! Thijssen with a no show in Stage 12 which isn't ideal in his battle for the Points classification. Finkler and the youngsters very active in the breakaways which is what we want to see Smile

It was nice while it lastet Smile

Still hoping for a somewhat weaker day for Dombrowski, who's ofc the well deserved leader of the race at this point!

Wasted energy for Vosekalns this stage, but still in the lead of the KoM. Not liking Dombrowski getting closer, he doesn't have to win everything Pfft

Another stage where Mas shows signs of improvement but he's got a lot of time to make up to move into that Top 25/30 which I only see happening through some breakaway luck. Rodriguez in the break early on but disappointing he can't stick with them and now he is sitting just outside the Top 30 too.

Fingers crossed we can push to get something out of this race!

Another encouraging stage by Amezawa. He's definitely stronger than last year, but still not quite strong enough to make his aggression work to gain time. And seeing Hirt able to limit his loss to only a minute, better than loosing 2'48 was possible here. We probably need another year of training to make him really, really competitive!

Thank you for the report and the pace they're coming with, Abhi. Really enjoy this race during the Christmas days.

GC wise things are looking pretty good, a bit over par. But the stages are crap. We consistantly put the wrong guys into the breakaways. Let’s hope it changes in the 3rd week where we might also finally see a succesful break.

Very disappointing that the peloton wanted to catch this break for no good reason (and that they were even able to do this against such a selection). Frown

Congrats to Gazelle!

stage 11: Guess the stage was too short for Dombrowski to force a selection. But still good effort to finish as first of the peloton. Congrats to Xero on a nice breakaway win!

stage 13: That's more like it! Awesome that we were once again able to reel in a huge breakaway, enabling Joseph to take the pink back in style; with a stage win. He's a machine so far this Giro and i hope he keeps that up. The Etna TT will be an important test.

Wow, things are almost going a little too well here. I'm suspicious of when the bad luck is going to strike us. The Dombrowski/Haig duel is pretty fun to witness, though Dombrowski seems to be in the driver's seat now with no flat TT kilometers left. Congrats to Gazelle!

Meanwhile, Galta has consistently shown himself to be the third best climber in the race behind the top two, and that is amazing for us. Another stage podium here, and cementing our podium GC spot by gaining time on everyone behind, is really amazing. I hoped for good GC scoring here, but because Galta has been so consistent and most breaks have been caught, he's racking up some nice stage points too, as shown by his stage podium today. His style is so cool, calm, and collected. Just a consistent diesel like Basso. It's not particularly exciting, but I'm glad he's playing to his strengths, and so far, it's worked flawlessly.

Also loving the depth. Doesn't seem like it's worth getting in on the breakaway shenanigans. Too many strong riders in the breaks makes it a crapshoot as to who gets dropped, and most aren't surviving anyway. Happy to see Gregaard on a really strong day, now in the top 20 overall, and Eg also doing well, inching towards the top 30. Gregaard also seems to be a useful lieutenant for Galta on the final mountain, which might be giving us a leg up for his resilience.

We're in a good spot now, but still a lot of work to do. Lots of mountains ahead and lots that can happen. Just have to stay solid and avoid bad luck.

This is shaping up to be a fantastic race for Dombrowski. Lots of stage wins, early good positions in all classifications and great chances for the GC. At least Haig is keeping up a good fight but looks unlikely to win this. Galta also looking pretty good behind them.

Glad to see Blums finally joining the break. Sure hope for more but it was a good ride.
