What a start to PT life for Carlsberg and what a few couple of days for the Kragh brothers! Congrats on a great win, bbl. Trondsen with a good position there, so I got my hopes up for something special. But at least a top 10 to start the race.

Congrats BBL!
Didn't expect Carsi to perform at this PT level, great result for him.

Gotta love AKA and SKA winning on the same day in the clashing races. Storybook stuff.
AKA is crushing it in his first few opportunities this year, I have to say. I guess his resistance and flat are still very useful in this engine. His positioning tends to be very good - in the thick of it, but far back enough to avoid the first wave of launches who never make it all the way to the finish without cracking. When he doesn't get blocked, he tends to get good results.
Big start for us obviously, in a race where we don't have a real favorite or know what we're getting from GC. Now we start off with a stage win, and gets to wear the leader's jersey for at least one day as well, maybe two. Also sets us up well for the points competition. We've had some good luck int he early going this year. Let's keep it going!

Ouch. Big commiserations to SotD, first of all. What PCM'22 does to him - and mostly to the top sprinters in general, is just a joke. Unfortunately, not a funny one at all. Feeling really sorry for you, that's just awful stuff.
One might argue that his energy stats aren't great. True, but neither are AKA's. And then look at Carsi - no way energy stats are the main reason for Coq's disastrous performances so far. So the main issue could be the "death spell of leadout trains", and iirc ELCO often had a train, and it just failed. It's honestly disappointing that even after several years Cya just don't get this right - leadouts are so often mistimed, and I don't think it'd be too hard to fix.
I'm hoping for you that Coquard will turn things around in the next couple of races - but as I already said once this season, I think we need to observe sprint results closely. If it doesn't make a difference anymore if you have a 79 sprinter or an 84 sprinter, we need to do something. But yeah, we're only in February, so I really hope things will get better for you (and Gaviria, and Ewan, and probably some others I didn't watch closely enough).
Still have to talk about our own performance - and I can obviously be more than happy with this outcome. Unlike in most of his sprints so far, Bol really got his positioning right this time, didn't get blocked, and made the best out of it. Maybe he jumped slightly too early, but AKA is a faster sprinter anyway and he's a deserving winner. Congrats to bbl, you're definitely off to a great start in PT
Thanks for the report, and good luck for S2 to all the sprinters who miserably failed today.

Awful stuff. Hope he will bounce back in style.
Kinda lame result from Groves, but at least in the mix.

Great to see we are active in the breakaways. We might not be winning the polka dots, but we might get some minor points from this. Can't complain with another top 10 from Van der Kooij either.
Congrats on today's double, redordead!

Another day in the KoM jersey for Krasts makes for a great stage. Sick that he can already contribute as a level 1 rider
Coquard with another bad stage. I'm really glad that they at least had some unexpected success in Portugal recently as these sort of results spell bad fortune for them

Cedevita domination! And who would have thought SHE and Rajovic would both win mass sprints in the PT!? Big congratulations, red! |

Not the best follow up from AKA. Not quite sure what happened there. At first I was afraid he was gonna go too early so near the front, but then he just kind of sat back and let everyone block him in. Not a big deal after the stage win, but a shame to lose the jersey on countback. Also a shame to see Aranburu pacing all day. Not that I think he can do a great GC here, and I like that the game is favoring Kamna, but it just seems wasteful.
Congrats to Cedevita!

Congrats to Cedevita! Massive results by your sprinters today!
On the other hand, Rajovic winning once again suggests that there isn't a real difference between a 84 sprinter and a 78 sprinter - sprints are so much more about being lucky with the perfect timing than about actual rider skills...
So whereas I actually should be really happy with Bol's consistency so far, it rather saddens me to see top sprinters having one stinker after the other. I might think otherwise if there were actual points at stake for me, though...
But on the other hand, it's obviously fantastic for us to take a GC leader jersey in a PT race - even if it might only last for one day! Even wearing green (yeah, I was looking for the standard team jersey first, before realizing that Bol was wearing green) was great to see, but the GC lead is definitely something else! It will only last for one day, but it's still a nice experience
Thanks for the report, although it seemed to be frustrating to write about the sprint (mentioning yourself that it's getting ridiculous...).

 WE'RE ON A WINNING STREAK?!
I wasn't expecting a lot from Dusan at this race, maybe a top 10 or two. Although he does have a bit of a history causing an upset with his 82 ACC. He missed out yesterday, but had a better position today and as things got hectic and I saw him in Coquard's wheel, I thought this could be good, but never thought about winning really.
Thanks for the congrats guys, I don't think I've ever won 2 stages on the same day

Two terrific sprints by Silvestre, sitting in 4th in the GC is neat. No points, obviously, but just the like final few stages of Qatar, this is encouraging for PCT races. Thanks for the nice reports so far and congrats red!
