Three very solid veterans in that batch. All guys I considered for the final roster spot, especially De la Cruz. Good pickup there.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

Hm, what says that about my list if i get my #1 and #2 of it with over 30 names on it? Well I am happy but already question my decisions
Though saw a lot of rinteresting other riders so far which just werent available to me because of their nationality

Quite surprised to pick up Bardet and De La Cruz that easily. Especially cool to have a last reunion with De La Cruz from the Europcar-era some years back.
Hurts to go outside our regional focus though, but except from Lavery there wasn't really any quality nordic riders left. We needed to boost our climbing depth going into this draft and we're happy with the outcome. |

Haha, I'm praying for my Nordic second choice to still be here when it's my pick again! I'd be very happy with the addition. |

Agree, De la Cruz is a good pick on a one-year perspective, and might be one of the decisive pieces helping Tafjord to promote. With my aversion to declining riders, I'd rather have gone for Mat. La Lavandier, though, which I consider to be a decent pick as well. From a long-term view, definitely like the Brown pick as well. Already 25 y.o., sure, but he should still grow into a useful allrounder, especially for CT.

Thanks for the write-ups!
I had La Lavandier, De La Cruz, Pons, and maybe others on my list, but not that high. After chasing them the whole week, I felt that a TTist good on the flat was what I needed more (and with solid backups also) for the TTT team completion.
2nd pick should be very different - if I didnt miss him in those who've been already taken.

Now it's not often that a draft list goes down to a team's 8th choice to find a rider. It's not that other teams beat them to riders, but Podium Ambition's focus on riders by OVL ultimately saw overlap with riders who were also deemed worthy of a full contract in the later stages of transfers. Having collected the top available OVL rider, now for the 4th on that list - Wataru Mutsumine. A rider who passed through the 2022 draft unwanted, after riding for Los Pollos Hermanos in 2021, is now back to racing.
A new dawn beckons for cycling in the Dominican Republic. First we've seen the signing of 22 year old Jesus Roniel Marte by Podium Ambition in this transfer window. And already we now have some local competition as Bordeaux come in for Polanco.
Over to the Cameroon next, who for the second year running are reliant on the draft to see a rider earn a place in the peloton. Last year it was Geremie Nzeke, but this time Clovis Kamzong gets the nod. A long awaited return - last contracted for the 2017 season.
Connor McCutcheon has had a bit of a wait as well, not quite as long though - 2020 was his last season, riding on the McCormick squad.

Mutsumine is an absolute mad man. Podium Ambition title candidate nr.1 nobody can change my mind.

Continuing to put support behind Lagane & Meyer (I really needed more time to get a better draft list together, sorry Admin!) Plus, Mutsumine's another Islander! Just one mainland rider on the squad in Pons, and he's landlocked. I swear this wasn't intentional but it's very funny to me.
And yay Polanco! With more Caribbeans appearing on more teams, up go the odds of getting usable leaders from the region. As well as pushing the odds forwards of hosting the Worlds in 4-5 years time.

Quite a pity really that one of the strongest puncheurs remaining in Stuyven 77hill, was also not picked in the CT draft iirc.
He was having a nice time with my team back then and surely could have helped a CT team.
I highly considered to sign him as final rider, but in the end decided to go for a level 1 talent instead.
Thanks SN for all the effort and stats for the draft ! |

There are still 7 picks missing if I'm not mistaken, so maybe Stuyven still gets picked up

Happy to be of service.
I don't think I noticed the nationality (except the fact he wasn't French or Spanish), but a Spanish speaking guy from the Caribbeans, it checks out. A mean to pushing the bonds between T3A, SEE Turtles and Bordeaux Métropole

Considered Stuyven myself as one of the last day picks but went for well rounded punchers instead. Surprising that he hasn't been picked up yet. Nice that our home man Mutsumine gets a ride though

Glad to see Pons picked up. Shows how wildly the division has strengthened and the calendar has homogenised and divided the stages of flat/hilly/mountainous that a very similar rider in Geschke used to dominate the CT and now Pons is an afterthought in the draft.
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

A few more talents in this one, first with Blanca Pareja becoming the 5th Philippines rider in the peloton - with the rest all being in the PT.
The odd one out in this set is Pit Schlechter. Riding for Mapei and Trans cycling team in recent seasons, in OVL terms he probably was the best cobbled rider left on the market.
Kristjan Johanson got the opportunity in the 2020 season to develop into a Lvl 2 rider - but his development into a mountain goat has stalled since then. Until now!
And from Ecuador, Richard Huera had a Stagiare contract last season with Voyajin - Bird. He is the second 2022 stagiare to become a 2023 draftee.

Time to look a bit more into the talents that were picked in the first round of the draft:
These are the results that our quick scouting lab provided for us, other development paths obviously possible too:
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | XP | Age | | Mohammad Ganjkhanlou | 73 | 61 | 65 | 63 | 70 | 70 | 76 | 62 | 77 | 79 | 55 | 74 | 74 | 4.M | 26 | | Szymon Tracz | 67 | 75 | 75 | 63 | 68 | 69 | 72 | 61 | 62 | 72 | 75 | 67 | 64 | 4.M | 25 | | Gordian Banzer | 68 | 72 | 76 | 64 | 78 | 71 | 70 | 51 | 53 | 71 | 69 | 74 | 64 | 4.M | 27 | | Eric Antonio Fagundez | 74 | 60 | 61 | 77 | 74 | 74 | 71 | 62 | 70 | 73 | 65 | 68 | 77 | 4.M | 25 | | Mattia Petrucci | 63 | 75 | 74 | 58 | 69 | 68 | 67 | 58 | 61 | 73 | 70 | 64 | 58 | 4.M | 23 | | Josh Burnett | 60 | 74 | 72 | 61 | 64 | 70 | 73 | 58 | 59 | 69 | 68 | 62 | 61 | 4.M | 23 | | Raul Garcia Pierna | 77 | 70 | 69 | 68 | 67 | 73 | 72 | 64 | 70 | 70 | 74 | 73 | 67 | 4.M | 22 | | Joseph Ivan Samudio | 77 | 55 | 61 | 65 | 74 | 71 | 71 | 67 | 69 | 71 | 76 | 63 | 68 | 4.M | 24 | | Davur Magnussen | 74 | 58 | 69 | 74 | 67 | 73 | 65 | 60 | 68 | 71 | 74 | 70 | 78 | 4.M | 31 | | Huub Deelstra | 62 | 73 | 67 | 61 | 63 | 72 | 71 | 58 | 59 | 68 | 72 | 62 | 62 | 4.M | 23 |
Personally, i like the potential of Ganjkhanlou and Fagundez the most. The Iranian especially being already lvl3. Really good talents that were still available in the draft. Tracz and Banzer have potential to be quite as well while Pierna can be a really cool allrounder.
Deelstra is the one pick i really dont get but i'm also no fan of Burnett and Petrucci due to some of their backup stats.
Magnussen probably shouldnt be counted as a talent signing tbf but not a bad rider either.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Oh damn, my second choice Jaakko Sillankorva got picked up 10 minutes before the transfer deadline. @Bjarnte; I lied, no Nordics.
I'm still happy with my draft pickups:
