Have been away, so haven't been able to comment so far.
Good to see that Benoot is active and at the front on all stages so far and 2nd in the GC currently. 2nd on stage 3 was also a good result.
Our sprinting is worrying at the moment, with DUC and especially the first two stages here being disappointing. Good on Saya to get involved though where Minali has failed.
Thanks for the reports so far roturn

LFDLCC had to win by a minute otherwise the announcers weren't done pronouncing his name...
Losing to a breakaway slightly stings but with the gap Vesely found his way back up again. As long as he doesn't go down again next stage

Absolutely nothing from the entire team in the first 3 stages and then BANG
What an awesome win from our young Mexican
Great start indeed to the young man’s career and, with the KOM lead, hopefully he salvages some good points for us out of what was looking like a 0 pointer.

Congrats to LLS on the breakaway win!
Better day by Jensen today. Unfortunate some puncheurs got dropped in an awkward way, but I obviously can't complain since it put Jensen back into the hunt for a good GC spot.
It's all gonna be decided on Wilunga though! Jensen has to be on his A-game! think anything besides the win is still on the table (but so is falling outside top 20).

Weird tour for us so far, Hayakawa scored some points, Errazkin in GC points too, but kinda mediocre as expected.

Not exactly ideal for us, Meurisse not even making an effort to participate in the front group does not bode well for the rest of year, hopefully he'll score better when given more freedom and the game doesnt have to juggle Kennaugh leadership. Speaking of Kennaugh, all I require is a stage win tomorrow to be happy, which shouldn't be too much to ask for right? ()

I don't know why, but I had some hopes that PCM would be a bit smarter this year. Well, it clearly wasn't to be; randomly ignoring sprinters and even puncheurs is still happening (c.f. also DUC or Qatar), which clearly sucks - although I'm not even in this race... Let's hope it'll at least somewhat be balanced out throughout the season.
I find it pretty strange to see that most hilly stages raced so far (Gisborne, S3 & S5 in TdU) had a "solo" winner (with Paulinho today probably the least "logical" one, still congrats to Binance!), who apparently was clearly stronger than everyone else. Don't know if it's a good or a bad thing, it's just interesting.
However, personally I think it's good that no sprinter will win the GC here
Thanks for the nice reports so far, congrats to all who did well, and commiserations to all who got bad AI treatment. And I'm dreaming of the day where the last phrase won't be needed anymore ^^

It's great to be back in action, it's time to catch up on this race.
Stage 1: With no pure sprinter in this race it was great to see the attitude of Blythe and Paulinho finishing at the front of the field.
Stage 2: Another stage for the sprinters in once again pleased to see Blythe finish in the top10 and Paulinho in the top15
Stage 3: First difficulties presented themselves to the riders, and Paulinho showed to be in good shape, trying to attack in the final part but unfortunately he was not able to get more than the top 10. Still, it was a good pronouncement and managed not to waste time in general except for McCarthy.
Stage 4: A tougher stage than I expected, but once again Paulinho manages not to waste time and another top 10.
Stage 5: The big stage of this race, the one that had everything to be decisive in terms of the general. Certainly I wouldn't be expecting to get this victory but Paulinho confirmed the good indications he has been giving throughout the race. This is without a doubt an important victory as it allows entry into the top 3 of the overall, something that will be great if confirmed at the end of the race.
It was just a pity that no gap was given at the end because those seconds could be important for the final classification.
Thanks everyone and thanks roturn for the reports so far.

Vesely did alright, but my eye just caught Tikhonin leading the U25 since stage one, let's say I'm not used to look down there

Borges should do much better than 11th in GC here, this course is made for him. I have no idea what’s going on with my team but this has been one of the most disappointing races we’ve ridden considering the team we sent. Awful.

Jensen again is around the peloton, but not competing at the front. It looked like he may have gotten caught behind a cracked rider in the sprint, but still, not what we wanted. We'll need some luck to stay in the top 10 after the bonuses tomorrow. But preventing challengers there is AKA's job.
I did expect more from Jensen to be honest, though he'll still provide a decent GC placing. Our team support wasn't amazing, but this wasn't the kind of grueling race where protection should be an issue too much. After a false flat attack on day 1, I figured he was out for blood. instead he was bleeding.
Gonna just say he had a below par race and move on. Too early for panic. A few more results like this though, and I better hope the Roundtable was wrong about him being far superior to Aranburu.

What a mess! I need to rinse the bad taste this race left in my mouth.
Well, we didn't send the best possible line-up, but then again, as it was already said here, the race is not that demanding. However we managed to screw things up big time. It seems we were always caught unaware and miss the splits with one of our 2 GC hopefuls. Kump put up a fight the last 2 stages but he already lost precious time and now his actions are irrelevant. Of course, it's the first race of our season so we need to move on. Obviously with the hope we don't repeat such showing. January looked like a painful month when the team's planning was made, but not that painful. But again, it's time to move on.
Congratulations to all who did well here! It was especially nice to see a breakaway win and a home boy doing well in the GC.
And thank you for the excellent reports, roturn!

That's good. Now for the hail mary of winning the sprint without McCarthy scoring higher than 10th. Feels like the maths for Verstappen this weekend, except we don't have all those more chances after
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Willunga didn't play out decisively, that's a bummer. At least we had a good stage result as for positions. I probably would not cry, if Houle takes the GC now, BUT it would of course hurt to lose the GC win on home soil on the final day!

5 stages and that is all we ever did. 1 breakaway that ended with 6km to go. Yeah that sums it up, no result on the last stage can make things better after this experience. Oh well. The good ol days of dominating TDU is officially over
