That's right. Here's how Bikex put it:
Teams with a U23 team will have to have at least 8 eligible riders under contract (AVG <= 72.0 (+ 1 <= 73.0 + 1 <= 73.5); Age <= 23).

Mane a good pickup at that price, he was asking for a fortune in renewals and I had to let him go.

Just to check, what happens if I end up below the minimum rider limit after the final round? I hope not to, but currently only having 11 riders and the fact I may be down to 100 wage riders only at that point and an outbid on just one could put me under the limit. |

Signing directives would fix that issue, no?

In the past, managers have been able to sign riders to fill their squad after the final FA period finishes. The only real issue is to ensure you have enough money(/roster spaces) remaining to reach the minimum amount of riders.

Yes there'll definitely the possibility to fill the team if needed, but I doubt it will be necessary |

My team also now full! Very happy with how transfers have gone having brought in nationality focussed leaders across most terrains and some good future leaders too.
Team HQ to be updated and a little transfer update posted later too

This is the most cruel thing - to squeeze out all of your remaining budget for free agents and to be outbid for one of them, forcing you to change your plans on the fly

Flakemore is a big signing for BP on that price.

Absolutely agree. In general, several riders went for less than I had anticipated. E.g. I thought all of Ulissi, Zilioli and Bilbao would go out of reach for me - and while that was true for the former two, Bilbao was just 10 above min wage. Well, should've tried
On the other hand, thought I could secure guys like Jimenez or Boothroyd, but those just went over the amount I was ready to pay (or could afford at that time). Well, sometimes you're lucky and you're the only one going for a rider, sometimes not - be it logical or not

Thanks, guys! Obviously, I'm very happy. Never thought I'd get Howard, Flakemore and Davies at those wages.
Yes, a pretty sudued FA market this season with a lot of riders who were snatched up at low prices.

I think it's a sign that stat inflation is starting to become a factor. Also looking at riders that are still available like Arizabal and Novikov it's clear that there are more good riders than spots on teams. It's not a big problem, as due to the min wages teams are still quite balanced, but I think in the next development phase I will implement some mechanisms to counter this trend a bit. I know last time everyone still complained about it so I didn't include it, but this time no-one will be able to say they didn't know. |

I guess it's also fair to say that ICL managers are great at scouting; no U23 Pot 7 rider went undetected, and only 5 U23 Pot 6 riders (not among the strongest I guess ^^). All other initially available ones were not renewed as far as I see.
Definitely hoping to discover a South American Pot 7 talent next year, but given that there was only a single non-European one this year, I guess that can take some more years ^^ I suppose Pot 6/7 riders distribution correlates with the main sponsors' countries distribution?

Pot6/7 distribution not directly but the number of regens does, but more regens leads to a higher chance of high potential riders so indirectly it is.

Generally it's not ideal to have riders change team multiple times in an offseason but I guess with DB's situation it's acceptable
Next round again until 10PM. |

And we are done!
Hard to say we got better, ostensibly wasting lots of money on transfer fees instead of wages. But theme wise, I'm very happy. We have all of the best riders from our two main focus regions now, and there is not a single rider on our roster not from a broader focus area. We secured a Canadian GC threat and a young Irish superstar time trialist. We didn't get a puncheur to replace Dan, but I can live with that.
Thanks for keeping up with this so well Bikex!

Probably done my transfers now. Really happy with how it went considering I had no plans prior and only devoted very limited time to it. This transfer system really evens the playing field between constantly active managers and those who are only free in small windows when the majority of others are offline/asleep.
Quite happy to get Gasanov, Zillioli and Palini, who all improve the squad, and round out a few of our weaker areas. Talents were harder to come by compared to last season imo, so Im glad I took that focus then. With no one imminently declining next season too, I think its a solid base to build from now.

@bbl: I love your team, in two years you've really collected all Canadian and Irish riders - and it's a strong team, too.
@Valverde: Glad to hear it, I believe that was the main intention.

So it was you who outbid me for him by 5 and forced me to change my transfer plans (since I need one more rider to fill my roster)? This makes me very, very sad
Solid pickup in the final stages of the transfer window though.
