Had hoped to see my team being more active in those stages. e.g. Vermeersch as Minali clearly is no threat on any of those bumpier ones.
Guess most saving energy for the mountains.
Good win for Mapei. Gaviria not getting the stage but the next podium and the GC lead. |

Not bad at all, a shame the break got it as maybe Meurisse's attack would have got more serious but 4th is nice especially with Higuita and Jams also showing themselves. Now to limit damage in the ITT and it's all uphill from there!

Ah ffs, this was made for Gaviria, sadly we couldn't catch one. Very intense final and very good report! At least we're back in the GC lead which is nice. 1/5 is not the win-rate we aimed for however :/

I cant believe im looking forward to my leader racing in a TT NC jersey
The upcoming tt will be crucial for us. Taaramae needs to hit a good day to gain ground on Madrazo and to ideally beat Tenorio.

With that profile suspected a break win. For a while fearing it could be a GC win. Guess it was good it didn’t go that far.
Swift seemingly had a bad day or is he low on MO compared to most sprinters?
Great reporting!

Swift has 59 MO so he has horrendous MO compared to most riders.
While the profile isn't one to one with the one in Chile a more or less expected break win here, looking forward to following more action!

That is a pretty huge time gap for a 40km ITT… that’s PCM these days I guess though

Consistent racing in the first 3 stages by Samolenkov (3x5th place), too bad Riccardo Minali was blocking at stage 4 and stage 5 was too much climbing for Samolenkov.
The 6th stage (time trial) was really disappointing, Kritskiy (top-5 pre stage favourite) losing 1'32 and finishing 20th is a big blow for the whole team. Two flat stages for Kritskiy to recover but this doesn't look good.
Great reporting Ulrich Ulriksen, it's impressive how you make flat stages and time trials enjoyable to read.

Despite having a pre Stage favorite I expected nothing from Vlatos here. So to get 2nd feels like a stagewin. I’m very happy with that result.

Good TT by Taaramae. 2nd in GC is a solid position although id rather not have Tenorio in red. But this gives us an early supply of daily points for a while which is very useful.
Crncevic with the ride of his life, giving us a good position in the team classification too!

Really bad time trial by both Madrazo and Kritskiy, while Tenorio/Taaramae were strong and now in pole position.
Haig might profit from this, much needed for tsmoha as well and now in to challenge for a podium spot? |

Decent ride by Goldstein. Would have been nice to see him in white though.

Grosu just can't catch a break it seems. The train almost always on point, but he never delivers.

Good looking 3rd place for Ivano. Better positioning then in the early stages looks the reason. |

9th is probably around right from Farantakis, but it would be Nice to have a solid overachievement once to benefit from actually having a sprinter here.

Jams what a champ!! All this with sub 50MO, 70 HI and just 73SPR - worthy of training?

Dzamastagic continues to be in the same position of not caring about the sprint trains until it is too late and then sprinting into the 10s. Not unexpected but also not what i want to see.

Losing a minute in the TT doesn't surprise me that much. Can't wait for the real action to start.
