Congrats to all of Kudus, Dombrowski and Morton for a very strong ride!
I enjoyed seeing the chasing group maintain the original gap throughout the entire climb, that was good work and keeps the former two close enough to still make the second half of the race exciting.
Especially the MITT can still shake up things massively.
Too bad Guldhammer lost a bit too much time compared to similar riders, but that makes for a tight group in 4th to 7th now, and speaking of tight, the U25 battle is great to follow as well.
It's tough to estimate our chances for the ciclamino and KoM.
If tomorrow goes to a break, there's a shot at the former if this Giro continues to be the polar opposite of last year's edition in terms of mountain breakaways.
The latter will probably be out of reach, with the newer PCM editions being very good at putting the KoM leader into as many breaks as physically possible.
Obviously, both of those jerseys remain an afterthought for now and I certainly don't mind conceding them to other teams for the sake of seeing more success stories coming out of this Giro.
Both of the next days are great breakaway opportunities, and I hope we can use them to rest up well, which also extends to the support squad. No need to help chasing anyone.

Herklotz wins and the other 84MO guys all come together in the group behind. A predictable result that you are actually afraid to predict in PCM.
I doubt Dombrowski can hold on to the second place until the end of the race, but I'm glad he still got it for now.

As expected, Guldhammer's great performance earlier in the race has a requisite poor performance during a later high mountain stage. That's the way of the world, and we'll just kind of pick up the pieces. He wasn't on a great day, and it didn't help probably that Warbasse was so bad there, ending up 70th.
So, in the end, we slip down to the rest of the second tier guys, but that's fine. Seeing the actually PT GC stars ahead of us is perfectly normal and proper. We're still in 4th. Assuming Morton easily passes us as things normalize, we still have an outside shot at a top 5, and a very good chance at a top 10, with a bit of a time buffer still on a bunch of guys. It will just depend on if this was a sign of bad recovery starting or just daily form.
Also nice to see AKA survived this one by the skin of his teeth, and happy to see Sulvaran continuing to go in breaks.
Congrats to cio! Worthy domination here.

That picture with 600m looked like this could finally be Van Poppel's day, but it was not to be once again.

Not even sure what to say about AKA anymore. Dude went from finishing 14th in CT sprints to winning 2 Giro stages in the span of a year, same stats. I'm just being blessed by the engine right now. No other way about it. He has gone from constant frustration to consistent beast. He is making our GT debut a very memorable one, that's for sure.
Loved seeing Sulvaran in the break again too. He's really made for those kinds of groups.
At this point the Eislers stuff is just weird. I've never seen a rider finish 6th-8th so consistently and repetitively before, especially in PCM 18-20. Just very bizarre.
Second time now that the finishing picture has contradicted the results. Does it seem like the game has the invisible, real finishing line earlier or later?

Well this might change things regarding the ciclamino...but it's not much fun chasing it when such randomness is the reason it's within reach.
I'm really happy for bbl though!
Tomorrow looks like an ideal breakaway stage, but we've had a few of those already that ended up with at least bonus seconds left to contest.
I wouldn't expect big attacks to take place in the finale, but we need to be attentive.

How is this not a gap?
Another good report. Thanks

Same shit, different day.
Sorry I'll stop commenting, as my outbursts doesn't do the reports any justice. Great work behind the scenes - I'm just annoyed that my team doesn't work one bit.

I think it's just my crappy computer that is at fault.

Good to see Hepburn as 6th from the break...
Though when you have options like Zardini or Ciccone, who are not even in the top100 GC, you really should go for those two on a stage like this. First clearly would be a potential winner in such group or in any group.
Not the best decisions so far from my team.
Carboni and all other stage racers losing another 2min just shows how bad my team probably is positioned in the peloton losing on any split. Can`t explain it anything different stage for stage. |

Great stage for us. Came close to the victory, but Roman understandably didn't have the sprint. Without the KOM topic this might have been the wrong team order today, but with it it was fine to sacrifice Villella for the KOM hunt of Roman. I really like how we use the starting position in the peloton with the KOM jersey to attack from the start to establish group presence, though it might be frustrating for those who can't make the jump.
Also a little sad to have the AI give no time gaps for Chiarello/Areruya, but that's always been PCM and pre-editing each stage would be very time consuming.
Thanks for all the great reports!

Been away for a couple of days, so a bit to cover here. In general terms happy with how we play our chances, mostly getting in the breaks and having someone delivering a decent result from the peloton. A bit of tough luck today, as the result could have been a lot different with someone other than Belevics in the break. But alright.
Sloppy from Sosa to get caught out and drop down in GC, but with the stages coming up, some more freedom might just be a good thing. Excited to see how the final week will play out, with some great looking stages.

Nice one from Quita! Finally we get something from this race. Hsu also with his first podium the stage before is great as well (although he got awarded 3rd despite clearly being in 2nd). Hope he can get over the mountains well and contest the last stage in Milano.
Reis' time loss is unfortunate but not too bad, the top 10 is still well within reach with the upcoming mountain stages! |

Nice stage. Sulvaran finally rewarded a tiny bit for his efforts with a GT stage top 10! Have to think that's the first one of those for Curacao in almost a decade, if De Maar ever even got one.
Chiarello and Areruya definitely deserved gaps there. This was a hilly stage too which usually has gap minimum set to their shortest, so surprising to see it not count.
Unfortunate for King Power to have a stage win sullied by Reis losing time.

Good to see Carboni finally showing up here. Good stage for a break. Obviously nothing bad to lose out on Areruya then and unfortunately also a day where the peloton didn`t sit up enough.
Still he showed strength and got a nice podium in the end plus being in decent position for the KoM which hopefully sees him attack again later on.
Minali out might not be too bad even though it`s a pity seeing his performances earlier on. But hardly seeing him doing it again in the remaining stages anyway.
Dombrowski making it interesting again by todays performance.
Regarding the stage design, not ideal to again having a piece of narrow there. Likely can second what SN said earlier in another race. Due to capacity and time consuming of testing pre season and lacking of enough people to test/edit etc., it might be better to "save" this time in future seasons instead of trying and still having some of those in then.
Thanks for the report! |

Areruya lovely performane!
Also quite interesting to see Herklotz struggling a bit, or rather Dombrowski performing this well. Really spices things up for the last few days.

I had really hoped for better from Barguil. I hoped he felt well when my team was leading the peloton, but just not strong enough... Hopefully his recovery will help him in the end now, if not this were alot of wasted racedays for him
