Halo dan selamat datang di kantor pusat Indosat Ooredoo!

Welcome to the HQ of Indosat Ooredoo for the upcoming 2021 cycling season. We're going to be riding in the PCT division after an immensely disappointing 2020 season in the PT. With a change of focus described below, we hope to remain competitive in the division whilst continuing to develop our young core of Indonesian riders.

Etos tim dan informasi proyek

"Team ethos and information about our project"

We're now going into our seventh season in the world of professional cycling. After many mishaps last year out of our control that determined the fate of our season before it had even started, the team sunk to the bottom of the PT rankings quickly and floundered around for the rest of the season and ultimately, we were relegated for the first time in the team's history back to the PCT division.

With relegation being secured and the surrounding disappointment subsiding so early in the year, the team took advantage of the spare time to determine what was to come for the future and how to go about it. We have always wanted to be able to provide a pathway into the professional ranks for Indonesian and SE Asian riders who would otherwise not be able to make it there themselves and lose their passion. Now that we've experienced relegation for the first time, the team is going to take advantage of the situation to strengthen these pathways and focus more on development of younger riders to help prepare them for a future in the professional ranks whilst still hoping to remain competitive. Our renewal strategy reflected that, with half the team departing.

Cycling has become a staple sport in Indonesia, where only a few short years ago it was relatively unknown - there was no race coverage, barely any participation in the sport and no care whatsoever for it. Since our inception, a sport that was ignored is now held in high regard and cherished. Not only has race viewership increased exponentially, but a country that once had only a few cycling clubs speckled across the archipelago has now snowballed into well over a thousand. The Tour of East Java attracts over 200,000 spectators that line the roads every year; not to mention the plethora of other races such as the Tour of Singkarak and Tour of Indonesia.

2021 Jersey Presentation
We were contacted by the ridiculously talented hillis91 with an update to our older jersey we had donned for a number of years. Would normally be hesitant to change from something that was already great, but his updated design was so fantastic that there were no second thoughts about the decision to ride in it for the upcoming season.

Renewals Comments
This year's renewals were very turbulent. As a relegating team with shocking results the previous season and multiple declined riders, they all decided to group up and demand more wages for riding in a lower division. The ringleader, Romain Vanderbiest (of course), was subsequently shot out of a jumbo-sized cannon into the stratosphere where we hope he remains.

Jan Bakelandts wanted a huge upgrade which was never going to happen for the 35-year old. We hoped to retain him on a much, much lower wage to use as a mentor to our younger riders but unfortunately he wants another mansion in Catalunya and shot down all of our offers. We wish him all the best and will always cherish his first season with us, which saw him win the Liege-Bastogne-Liege.

Gregory Brenes found a home here after the disband of Quickstep many moons ago. He has been absolutely fantastic for us as a support rider and a leader. His efforts in the grand tours the past two seasons have been immense and we will miss him greatly.

Age has unfortunately gotten the better of Matt Goss. We purchased the former world champion from Amaysim quite a while ago in our first PCT season where he was immense for us. He's been in and out of the team since, but has always remained a core part of the team.

Cheng Ji was also brought in for an absolute minimum from Amaysim again around the same time Goss arrived. He's been a legend and a cult hero ever since as the leader and chief organizer of our sprint teams. He has been passing his wisdom onto Bolor-Edene in the past season who hopes to take up the mantle he leaves behind.

Kenny Elissonde only recently joined the team. He constantly delivered sub-par results and wanted a sizeable wage to ride for us in PCT which we very politely declined.

Nurbolat Kulimbetov was the first rider we ever fully developed. He has grown into a competent puncheur and would make a great asset for any team.

Isaac Speirs has been the rider to lead the sprinters after Ji peels off for the past 3 seasons and also leaves the team alongside him. He was always trusty and super reliable, and hopefully Abdul Gani can take his place.

Ligthart and De Souza also leave. Ligthart after only one year, and De Souza after 4.

As usual, any rider is available for the right offer. Keizer will leave the team. He'd be a great asset to keep considering the makeup of the PCT calendar and his wage, but we're looking to move him on so as to bring in some younger blood. HE would be a great asset to a PCT team looking for that little bit extra to push for promotion with no risk considering his wage. Newly maxed Luchshenko is a very interesting rider who we're not too sure about yet, but will definitely listen to offers. Warchol would much prefer to stay, but *could* possibly be persuaded. Our Indonesian core and younger riders will all look to be staying again unless someone throws a few hundred gold bullion at us. We may look for a PT loan for Xandri.

@Darkwolf: Thanks! It's nice to finally see some progress with development in that area. All the best to you, too!

Very happy to be building a solid core of young riders that'll be able to ride together for many years to come. More importantly, having a solid group of Indonesians maxing out around the same is also great for the team and will hopefully help in attracting more local riders to the team for this coming season.

Nur Hasan will in the future lead the team in sprints. He has great energy stats and with a little bit of extra training will be able to take the next step.

Abdurrhaman's path isn't 100% decided as yet, but he will become the first fully fledged stage racer to emerge from Indonesia into the pro ranks and will be a very handy support in all types of stages.

Setiawa is also undecided as yet, but his last step will most likely involve more tt training as seen here prioritized over incline training. He's a super interesting rider that could have been developed a few different ways, and we chose to turn him into a hilly/tt hybrid. Setiawa will have a lot of money invested into him for future training with the hope of him being the team's leader in hilly races.

Luchshenko finished his development this year and has become a punchy sprinter hybrid. With great energy stats to boot, he is also a potential candidate for training in the future. We may have to begin searching for alternative fundraising methods outside of cycling to fund the newfound obsession with training, however.

Arif Prayogo and Wolf will form the basis of the team's TT squad. With the imminent departure of Keizer, a few more TT riders have been added to the transfer shortlist for the coming season. Arif Prayogo will also be getting used to making the national TT jersey his for the inevitable future as the only TT rider from Indonesia!

Xandri will add invaluable depth to the team's GC squad when he maxes next season.

Bolor-Erdene The Mongolian has been seen training heavily during the off-season with mentor and former rider Cheng Ji. He will become the team's new lead-leadout and sprint organiser.

Here come the Indonesians
We've successfully sealed our first three targets of the transfer season - youngsters Wibisono, Yudha and Rohendi. We are delighted for them to develop with us as we hope to bring out the best of their abilities and help them reach their potentials. This brings the number of Indonesians riding for us this season to 11! Over half the team's make up will be home grown for the first time ever - and 7 of them are unmaxed!

Wibisono will become a pretty handy stage racer following in the steps of Abdurrhaman who is also currently still in development. He'll develop great energy stats, which is a team focus Smile He's a future candidate for training, but are currently undecided on how to go about it.

Muhammad Yudha, Age 22, 50,000

Yudha will develop into a decent puncheur and will be a great asset to the team in future hilly races.

Rohendi will complete his development this season as a stage racer. He'll be a great all-round GC rider with no real weaknesses and decent energy stats. He'll add a lot of stability to our GC roster for years to come along side Arifin and Abdurrhaman.

@knockout: Yeah, so long as we can flog him off to the PT somewhere he could become a pet training project as well. Will never be great, but would great to see him competitive with the big guns one day.

@hoyle: Thanks! Hope to have a core that resembles Festina's Greeks one day. Next step is to have an Indonesian that could genuinely become a top rider, but we will see how that goes Smile

Nice talents! I had my eye on Wibisono but I'm very glad he ended up on Indostat. I admire the national dedication and any year you can bring in 3+ core riders is a good year, it will be fun to follow.

@ DarkWolf: I do too!

@ Ulrich: Thanks! I very well might do that, but will probably focus on those I already have and hope to improve upon one or two of them once their development is finished instead Smile

@ Bushwackers: thanks! And also thanks for not stealing him from us Smile I still have nightmares about Novardianto going to Xero many years ago  And yeah it definitely is, three decent national talents in one year is great.

@ bbl: Thanks Smile

Very great to see you developing so many Indonesian talents, many of whom I suspect you suggested yourself as well Smile Most of your talents also seem very well rounded and physically strong, which makes it even better. Little note to myself to start suggesting riders with a stamina higher than 71 as well Grin

Looking forward to see who else you have signed.
