Meintjes came to play!
Shame the risk didn't pay off but he had a good race none the less and still finished 6th in a rather tough field.
Congrats to Knockout and Skujins for the win

Martin so close yet to far in the B Worlds.
Meanwhile in the TTT, Cosnefroy gets himself a Silver Medal in the Worlds with that effort from the French team. They’ll be even stronger next year with Cosnefroy & Thomas maxed out and rearing to go!

So close for France. This would have been a very good year to take the win, as Coppel isn't getting any younger. Same applies for team members like Gallopin and Stelly Robert. I know that the likes of Cosnefroy and Thomas will become even better, but I doubt it will be enough to cover the losses, unless the likes of Paillot/Viennet/Lecuisinier receives training.
Supplement riders like Mottin, Bernaudeau, Sicard, Ivars and Kneisky are also on their way down. I suspect France will fight for top 3-5 rather than gold next season, and might even get below that in the future, where teams like Denmark could naturally take their place with Krigbaum and Norsgaard adding depth and only Steensen losing touch.
I thought Greece were fighting for a top 10, but eventually they dropped far back. Next season should be better with Vlatos and Tzortzakis still in their "A-Game" while the likes of Ioannidis, Kiriakidis, Farantakis, Spanopoulos, Mavrikakis, Giannoutsos and Stavrakakis all improving. Probably not enough to fight for a top 10 though, unless someone picks up Sakellaridis and Christapopoulos.

Nice win for Australia with three of our riders helping their country! Surely not the most prestigious victory for one's palmares, but still a great achievement in a fierce fight for glory.

Thanks for the great report, cunego! Was hoping for a Sterbini medal, but fifth it is for Italy. Munoz in last with Colombia as great preparation for finishing last in PCT with Los Pollos next season.

Remi Cavagna with a silver medal in the TTT!
Too bad Ganna couldn't quite make it two medals with the Italians, and Germany down in 9th ain't great as the lineup was 50% Puma.
On the other hand, having half of your home country's TTT squad come from your team, in a home Worlds, is a great achievement regardless of the result.
The same will actually be the case for the road race, where Herklotz should have a decent shot at the medal positions in what might be the second most important race of his career, and definitely the most important classic.
The B race gives me hope that the route suits a punchy climber like him. Congrats to knockout there!
On that note, Yikui Niu did very well again in said B race to finish 15th ahead of many more accomplished riders. He's always a joy to watch.

It's nice to take home our second U23 ITT title in 3 years, shame I haven't managed to have that translate towards senior TT riders in my squads ever doing well.
Mano is definitely looking like he will be the best one we've ever had.

I completely forgot about that to be honest
Annoyed Gamper isn't riding the road race by the way, let's see what he does next year

Nice 8th place for Fraile in the ITT. He didn't want the rainbow jersey anyways when he has the Spanish ITT NC jersey to rep for next season.

Was rooting for Wurtz, but as always Phinney is another beast.

Bernal comes through with the big performance in is his last U23 race. Congrats to Beagle.
McNulty badly outperformed by Champoussin and Valter, his contemporaries. Guess he will have a few chances to even it up in the future.
Thanks for the report.
