That final 800m was just stupid. Not even Veloso in the Grandíssima would do that

Forget the Vuelta, I want to see if Pogacar can do the same at the Grandissima this August now. Cool

Pogocar wasn't even trying.

Nice to see Dan get a stage top 5 after being pretty useless for most of the 3 weeks. No idea why he was even here and not saved for the Vuelta, unless this is some kind of training for the Olympics. Seems like bad team planning to me.

It feels like the TDF for the forseeable future will just be Pogocar in first and whoever Jumbo and Ineos decide to ride for as the podium.

Nice race for 2nd place you got there

the most hilarious thigs is that it seems Pogacar was not even giving it 100%. If he goes to the Vuelta, Bernal isn't standing a chance. Two worls apart completelly

Should be fun

Uran cracking kind of killed the race for the podium, and that was the only race around. Didn't seem like Carapaz cared much between 2nd and 3rd.

As funny as the whole Pogocar situation is, I at least respect that he and his team decided to go for the stage wins instead of just having endless mountain breakaway days that have become so common in GT's.

Kom ranking rule is a joke, you can top just two climbs in the whole tour and win the Jersey with comfortable gap. Poor Poels, he is fighting for three weeks...they should really think about to change the double points rule on stage finish

Arberg
Beautiful by Vingegaard. Impossible to do anything about the Slovenian Lance Armstrong.

iirc this rule was introduced exactly to prevent random guys like Anthony Charteau to hop into some breaks and win the polka dots, but I think it killed a bit the joy of this jersey, we had Poels, Woods and Quintana entertaining the race and in the end nobody wins. So much effort for nothing…

If you want to win the KING OF THE MOUNTAINS jersey, you should probably be the best in the mountains. It's not a race of effort, otherwise you may as well give Cav KOM since he's clearly riding sooooo hard to get over these mountains. Rules a bit silly, but the justification behind that should be more on the climbs being no more difficult, not bc somebodys feelings might get hurt. Get out of preschool lmao

I don't feel the point to prevent random guys to win it, with current score system you have at least to top on Tourmalet, Ventoux, Peyresourde and so on to win it, and if you do it you are not so random....you can't win it topping 3 or 4 categorized climb of first week...
didn't Pogacar win Kom Jersey on last real climb of the Tour also last year? (LPdBF in ITT)

Tourmalet and Ventoux gave less points than Luz Ardiden (much less!)...that's the problem, I'm not against Pogacar winning it, but actually he just topped 2 climbs in whole tour

Well, the system should be changed and have it be a mix between the old system and the new one. Having Charteu win it was an embarrassment, I feel like it should still go to someone who actually hunts the points on the climbs, not a GC rider picking up points along the way without really going for it.

But then again, Pogacar was the strongest climber (a true king of the mountains Pfft) in the race so I guess this is well deserved.

Of course it ain’t a race of effort, Pogacar just rode a Sunday stroll these two days. Pfft It’s just the points system that’s kinda unbalanced, of course it was put in practice to really crown the King of the Mountains, but I just don’t fancy it. Couldn’t care less how these guys feel, sure it’s frustrating for them, but certainly I’ll hopefuly learn more about this topic once I leave preschool. In the end, nothing against Pogacar winning; just the balance of the points system and perhaps how the climbs were aligned in this year’s edition.

And how many did Poels topped? I mean I get the point, but it's not like Poels won any of those big climbs. He was just there in breakaways picking up points, but never looked to be the strongest.

Pogacar is with no doubt the best climber of TdF, but if this is the point let's delete Kom points and give it to the yellow wearer, 95% of times is the best climber of the peloton

alexkr00
Actually now that I think about it more, the system shouldn't be a mix between the old one and the new one.

Drop the double points on the final climb or whatever the rule is now at all.

Give really big points on the big climbs such as Ventoux or Tourmalet. But big points only to like the first three with a good gap between them as well. That way you make you sure the jersey goes to someone who actually goes for it and can also be first at the top of the very big climbs, not just a points hunter.
